I guess I can give it three stars because that is "average" and that is mostly what this place is. You hear "Pike Place" and "Bakery" and think about some of the yummy stuff you can get at the Pike Place Market. I dont think Ive ever been to their location in the Market, but was excited to try the Renton location because its close to home. I grew up just outside NYC so I guess I expect a lot from a bakery. The pastries here are smothered in sugar and must be made with a lot of shortening because they certainly didnt use butter. Butter would have a lot more flavor. So bland with tons of sugar is what your get here. I have yet to try their breads but they didnt look very tempting.

Some of the things I have tried here are amazing. The chocolate-dipped coconut macaroons are always a good choice. I also think they make great peanut butter cookies. If you get the doughnut with custard, its better than any other custard Ive had in a doughnut. The cinnamon rolls are made just how I like them; a satisfying bread texture that isnt dry, with just the right amount of sugar glue holding it together. I saw another review suggesting butter, and I agree that several of the cookies are lacking in the shortness department. More butter please.

I was around the plaza and wanted some pastries. I wouldnt recommend this bakery at all.
