Overall, this restaurant is skippable. The food was not great, and overpriced. On top of that, the service was bad. I came in with a friend and immediately the service was oddly poor. Even though we were only a party of 2, the host ignored us when we walked in only to seat two parties of 5+ that came in after us. Finally, a different person (maybe the real host? It wasnt clear) asked us for our name to write down. We were confused by this because we could clearly see empty tables in the dining area, so we asked if there was a long wait thinking maybe wed needed to make reservations, but he just said, "I dont know," and walked away. Once we were eventually seated, no server greeted us for about ten minutes, and no one brought water either. Once we did have a server, he forgot to bring us coffee for about twenty minutes and then seemed offended when we said we didnt want it after all. I ordered the eggs benedict (a diner stand by of mine) but it was not good. The sauce was very lemony - to the point I would have called it lemon cream sauce if I had not known any different. If it was just a flavor I wasnt expecting, thats usually fine but the whole dish just wasnt tasty. I ended up scraping the sauce off the eggs and meat and eating those separately. My friend ordered scrambled eggs, but received over easy instead. Bottom line: I wouldnt go back! We were looking for a fun place to try on a rare morning in Kent, but this was expensive, slow, and thoroughly untasty.

Im not a breakfast aficionado; I typically prefer lunch or dinner fare, even in the morning. And Ive just figured out why: the VAST majority of the food served at restaurants for breakfast is of very similar quality and flavor. Most of it comes off the food suppliers truck, and is nearly ready to serve- just heat and eat. Not to say that its terrible, just that there isnt much variety, and theres typically a lack of freshness and flavor. I issue that diatribe as to give context to this statement: Wild Wheat serves the best breakfast youre likely to find south of Seattle, and is at least on par with the best in the city. Everything we ate was made fresh, using unprepared ingredients. I had a dungeness crab and asparagus omelette: the asparagus was perfectly cooked, still with a crisp to it, there was a copious amount of crab meat, and they even topped it with a REAL house-made hollandaise sauce, in which you could actually taste the lemon! Served with the best potatoes Ive had in some time- and I really dont even care for potatoes. The restaurant itself is clean with a nice decor, and since its attached to the bakery, youve got some great options to take home for later use. In short, the food here is in a class well above standard diner/breakfast fare, and the ambiance wraps up the complete package, making this place far and away the best breakfast option around.

Sorry Wild Wheat, you are not what I remembered. We arrived at 730 saturday morning and were greeted with an almost overwhelming odor of sanitizer? We were seated promptly, and if we didnt already order mochas I would have suggested leaving. After my own microbes quieted down or silently died I was ready to enjoy my meal. I eyeballed the bakery case and thought the pecan roll looked good so I ordered that along with their 2 egg breakfast: 2 eggs over easy, with hazelnut currant toast and home fries. I also ordered a side of bacon. I was very disappointed with the pecan roll - I only ate the top off, the remainder was bland and tasteless. Toast was good but arrived cold, buttered it immediately but no way would melt. Eggs are eggs. Home fries were good but also not hot, but warm upon arrival. Mocha was good and decorative leaf in the foam was very nice.

Several ladies I work with went to WILD WHEAT for lunch a few weeks ago. We had wonderful service, the food was outstanding. I recommened it to several other co-workers. This time we called the order in for pick-up. The person I gave my order to was not very professional and was rude. While picking up our order, again not treated very nice, a big contrast to my first visit there. Our food this time was not good. The preparation of the food was rushed. My sandwich was missing part of the ingredients, the pasta salad was dry. We were disappointed and I was felt bad for recommending it to others.

Stopped in here during one of Kents street fair event days. We were still able to get seated quickly. Theyve got quite a few seats. The place could use some sound dampeners though. Its quite loud in there and theres nothing to catch the sound on nearly any surface. Staff was a little shorthanded for the amount of traffic they had that day. The food was served in large portions and was very tasty. Though Im giving it a 3-star rating, Id be willing to go back to this place again and try them when they are heavier staffed.

The front entrance and waiting area are a complete mess. The floor layout is so congested might as well have cafeteria tables. A friend and I ordered, food was brought quick but I think they should of took there time. My order, a omelet with toast and home potatoes, was sloppy on the plate, overcooked and under cooked. My friend ordered their breakfast plate, and it looked no better then Dennys. Also ordered pancakes that were dry, not fluffy, burnt on one side and no taste. Overpriced over hyped and inedible...

I love this place for lunch. Their Smoked Chicken Salad with Goat Cheese Toast is my favorite. We enjoy their dipped Macaroons, Lattes, Lemon Waffers and breads. Their breakfasts are good too. We usually get the Eggs Benedict. I personally think it could do with an extra tablespoon or two of Hollendaise sauce on it, so we order extra for $3.50 which is like 1/2cup of extra sauce. But we take it home and make our own eggs benedict the next day at home. But everything has been so yummy here. High recommended.

The bread and food is generally of high quality. However, today my friend got an omlete that was missing all the stuff inside, which had to be sent back. Staff did not offer much of an apology or any compensation while she waited for it to be re-made. Then, the waiter dropped all my carefully counted change, and tried to bring me back more coins because he had lost one. Overall, the service today left much to be desired, and despite us being loyal custimers, not sure we will be back.

Good Food, Deplorable Service. I want to love this place but Im am challenged to especially lately. The food has always been really good and worth the typically very long preparation time but it has been going downhill a little lately. Also, the service has always been slow but each time I go in it seems to get worse. It is also frustrating when you are seated first and the two couples after you get served before you, this happens often.

Excellent breakfast spot in downtown Kent at the corner of 1st & Gowe St. Great food with fast and friendly service. I was surprised how quickly the food came out with the restaurant so full. I recommend the Eggs Florentine. The hollandaise sauce is so good over the poached eggs and spinach. And the breakfast potatoes are some of the best Ive ever tasted.
