What a lovely experience we had at Toscanos on Wednesday evening. Firstly, walking into the restaurant gives you an immediate feeling of comfort. The ambience is so different than the large chains of restaurants that are so common in the area. We were greeted and seated immediately, despite the fact that the restaurant was extremely busy. It had been a while since we had dined there and it was such a nice surprise to see new items on the menu from the last time we were there, apparently Toscanos regularly make changes to their menu, which really is a nice treat. We took our seat at a bar table, where Lee quickly greeted us. What is so nice about the staff at Toscanos is they make you feel so comfortable without feeling like they are hovering over you, which I, personally, find intrusive. My adult son ordered Puntenesca Chick & Prawns, and not only was the presentation of the meal pleasant to the eye, the actual meal was delicious, cooked to order. I ordered the New York steak and prawns. There just arent words to describe how savory it was. Once again, cooked to perfection, the presentation second to none. It was the most enjoyable meal that I have had in a restaurant in years, so much so that I felt compelled to write a review and share our experience. The steak was tender and prawns spiced just enough to make this meal absolutely delicious, savoring every bite. The cocktail menu which is created specifically for the Martini Madness Event drinks was brilliant! The description on the menu representing these speciality drinks was so funny and interesting that you had to read it out loud and talk about it. It was humorous and brilliant and I found myself ordering a martini purely based on the funny description. I would recommend Toscanos to anyone. It is fine dining, with an atmosphere so laid back and friendly, the staff truly do you make you feel like youve just walked into your favorite Aunts house to experience her favorite family dinner with fun conversation and everything that comes with that.

Attentive service, some really good, interesting food, and lovely wine. I was seated immediately; waitstaff were friendly and informative. Food and beverages were kept on the table constantly. I had a seasonal appetizer of winter squash sauteed in olive oil with garlic and (I think) basil; not a combination I would have thought of and it worked very well. My entree was fat, full-flavored fresh-tasting oysters, very lightly breaded, and fried just enough to warm them through and give some crunch to the breading, seasoned with fresh oregano. This was another combination of flavors I would not have expected and it was absolutely delightful; I had no idea oregano would taste so extraordinarily good with oysters. These are likely the most delicious oysters Ive ever had. They were served with lightly sauteed spinach in olive oil and garlic, more of an old standby but done very well. The only reason Id say the food wasnt excellent (instead of "merely" very good) was that the bread, although fresh and served with a nice mix of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, was not particularly chewy, crusty or strongly flavored; it was the only part of the meal that was even close to boring. I had a flight of three delightful red wines, a sangiovese and a barbera from Italy and an Argentine malbec. Instead of ordering off the dessert menu I had crostini with figs and parmesan, which was just right. This restaurant is somewhat expensive but worth driving out of the way for. Total cost including drinks (and limoncello with dessert, and espresso after the meal) was $65.

For my last night in Puyallup, I wanted something I hadnt already had. Theres not too much to choose from according to Yelp, but Italian sounded the most promising. That said, Im glad I chose Toscanos. The second you walk in, you feel rich. The atmosphere of the room feels super fancy (soft lighting, wood decor, etc.), and though it looks small, theres a second story as well as outdoor seating. We were seated immediately as there werent many people in the restaurant. With the exception of the music, which was every now and then a pop song instead of Italian music, it was nice a peaceful. While our waiter wasnt necessarily the most knowledgeable or excited, he most definitely did a great job serving us and I would not hold the negative comment against him nor the restaurant itself. I ordered a tomato salad and the Seafood Fettucini. The salad came rather quickly, which was a delight. It tasted delish, and was a perfect opener for the meal. The seafood was great and had an excellent a variety to it, not to mention the cream sauce which was perfect (didnt get hard or gross when it cooled). Needless to say, I was stuffed after the meal, so no worries about serving size. When it comes to Italian food, an Italian such as myself knows his stuff. As I always say, not the best, but pretty darn close!

The atmosphere was very inviting and cozy. Unfortunately the food didnt taste as good as the restaurant looked. I had mushroom and artichoke stuffed chicken and another had the rockfish. Both entrees were so-so, not much flavor, noodles had no sauce, looked as if they were taken out of the pot and just placed on the plate plain. Rockfish entree wasnt much better! Service was very slow and waitress never came back once plates were placed in front of us! We had to finally ask for our check after waiting at least 15 min after we were finished eating! Will never go back, too many other places to try, especially for that price point!

The chefs always deliver with great options and pairings with seasonal offerings. This has been a place Ive gone for a nice night out a couple of times and always get something different, usually off the Chefs menu. They recently started a weekend brunch that is wonderful. I had Strawberry Amaretto Crepes and the Strawberries drizzled in a Butter and Basil sauce was a new flavor for me, but one that was delicious beyond description. The prices reflect that this is a finer dining establishment, so this isnt a place to go when youre on a budget. If you do go, you will find it is worth every penny and then some.

Moved to South Hill (Puyallup) last year and found our new favorite place for happy hour / dinner. Great food, awesome drinks and when the weather cooperates get out on the patio! Views of the mountain are great. Staff is outstanding, friendly and attentive but not overbearing. If you like Rum, try "Puyallups Best Rum" a mix of rums and juice, just be careful if you have more than one they kinda sneak up on ya. Summer months they have a nice patio open with fireplace seating and glass walls to keep the breezes at bay in the evenings.

Loud and busy but I like the food and I go back. A little too much salt in mine but they would probably not use as much if I remembered to ask. They are very accommodating on requests. Service was good. Although we used to get a server that was a bit condescending. I am sure some would enjoy his attitude. I ask for help on selections sometimes but like to not always have the big dollar item pushed. The other night we got good suggestions (less the salt).

Super awesome place for happy hour. Me and the lady got excellent service, food was amazing, portions were larger than expected for the happy hour price. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars is the Spicy Brussels Sprouts and if I could, Id give this place a 4.75 instead of just a 4. They were rushed. The smaller sprouts were cooked perfectly, they were seared and tender. The large ones were just seared and still tough in the middle.
