Went to The Winery a few weeks back on the 7th of July 2016 and had a great time. We arrived later in the day and had a peek around the winery and the hotel and we were really impressed and decided to come back as soon as possible. We then returned the next week, Wednesday the 13th of July, after seeing the Wednesday Night Summer Special Advertised, as $1 Wednesdays for oysters. Below, is the exact special described: "Wednesdays are now OYSTER WEDNESDAYS at Wedmore Place and the Café Provençal! In addition to our regular Happy Hour specials from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, well be serving up delicious Virginia Oysters for $1.00 all night long each and every Wednesday at the Pool Terrace and Wiley Minstrel Lounge at Wedmore Place, which is located on the property of The Williamsburg Winery!" Sadly, the power had gone out but the Manager (who was nice and very welcoming) recognized us from the week before and asked us to please come by the next week and we assured her that we would. The next week came around, we headed out once more to Cafe Provencal, and arrived at around 7:30 pm having made a reservation for 8 pm, planning on visiting the Wiley Minstrel for their "$1 dollar oysters served all night long" for a quick appetizer. We were promptly told by the server that $1 oysters are only served until 7 pm and so we left. We will not be returning anytime soon due to obvious confusion between workers, management and advertisement of "all night long" Wednesdays. Two stars for the friendly manager but as for the restaurant we have yet to try.

Why anyone would rate this amazing little gem less than a 5 is beyond me. We have eaten here perhaps a dozen times and never been served anything but the finest French preparations. We live in the DC area, and Provençal would cost multiples more inside the beltway. Moreover, we have been to Paris numerous times, and this restaurant would be right at home there. The food is fantastic, the service is impeccable, and the quiet, unpretentious atmosphere only heightens the experience. We ate there this evening, and the entire meal was splendid. This is the best restaurant in Williamsburg, hands down, and one of the best anywhere. Those who dont appreciate what it offer do not appreciate fine cuisine. Highly recommended!!!

Came in for our ten year anniversary and left debating whether that was the worst meal we had eaten during our marriage. My husband ordered the clam appetizer and the broth had a strange chemical taste, which was unpalatable. I ordered another appetizer which ruined my ability to enjoy my entree. The entrees were adequate but not on par with the price tag. Our waitress was nice, but that was one of the only redeeming qualities of the meal. Very disappointed based on the price and quality of the experience.

Could not tell you how the food was. Waited 1 1/2 hours without being served. Got so hungry that we had to leave before passing out.
