I really like this place online, but I wasnt in love when I visited for the first time. I think there is somewhat an identity crisis -- its a pretty small space (maybe the photos were taken with a wide lens or else having people inside really changed the space) but its almost as if one wall acts as a cafe and the other wall acts as a restaurant. There are a few cute little nooks by the windows where you can sit and study for a while. Unfortunately, I didnt really enjoy studying here because some people (restaurant style) were talking super loud while the cafe people were more quiet and relaxed. So, its really not an appropriate study cafe and I dont think they have wi-fi if I recall. The bathroom is somewhat small and right next to the eating area, so I felt kind of shy using it. Not much to do about it though. The coffee is somewhat sour (I think they ship it from Brooklyn which may affect the flavor) at the standard going rate of $2. Also the cinnamon buns were $5 which were a little too pricey for me to enjoy but it looked good.

Dovecote Cafe is a charming spot in Reservoir Hill where both local residents and visitors to the neighborhood converge over fabulous coffee and hip, welcoming atmosphere. Dovecote serves only drip coffee- no lattes or other frilly drinks- but their selection is large and the flavors are rich. The coffee is probably the best I have found in Baltimore. Dovecote is a great place to meet with friends or colleagues, and also a spot where you can get independent work done. However, it is important to note that the cafe is so popular that it is sometimes difficult to find a table. But-- there is plenty of outdoor seating and other patrons are always happy to share their tables! If you are looking for fantastic coffee, inspiring art, an upbeat coffee shop vibe, and diverse group of coffee lovers, Dovecote Cafe is an absolutely necessary place to visit.

Went here for a meeting one Saturday morning and was in ahh of this little oasis right down the street from where I live in Madison park ON MADISON AVE. I moved here five months ago and was in a sort of envy of the mount Vernon and Bolton hill folks who could walk to cute places like this. Now I know I can do the same (or preferably bike) and its even better that it is black-owned. I had the frittata that was the best that I have ever had. I also loved the coffee system with the color flip book because most people go by color anyhow! The workers were so nice and pleasant to speak with. One of the owners walked in and was hugging and loving everybody which just made it even better. Cant wait to return. They might even get sick of me :)

They only place where Javatone is a way of life lol. If youre looking for a place where locals, creatives, entrepreneurs and activists alike can congregate over delicious food and relaxing (and sometimes) jumping music, youve found your place. The owners, Cole and Aisha, are personable and literally greet almost every guest by name. Baltimore has yearned for a place like this. In my 11 years living here, there truly is no place like it. Enjoy a chai tea latte with a slice of spinach pie, peach upside down cake or frittata. Or get dine on something hearty like the breakfast panini or chicken chili. Order anything on the menu and you truly wont be disappointed!!!!

I appreciate that I was able to eat a hearty meal that wasnt stripped of everything tasty. The area has either horrible fast food or horrible "everything" free (no gluten, no milk, no meat, no flavor). However, Dovecote has a happy flavorful medium. The cashier was very nice. The environment was pretty peaceful and I see that theyre a stop for the free traveling community farm; so, youll be able to buy fresh local veggies some days. They also have clear signs that everyone is welcomed in this cafe. They seem to be working on developing the brand more and I hope for the best and continued refinement. Im LOVING the delicious desserts from Juicyapplesco.

This is the best coffee shop in Baltimore City. The atmosphere is great and always personal. The owners attention to the community and promotion of local food, beverage, produce and community groups are just some of the best qualities. The food is always good and the coffee is amazing. My favorite is the cafe de los sueños and the raspberry filled corn muffin toasted with butter. They also host a number of great events such as but not limited to (free) community yoga.

Not only is Dovecote a beautiful little haven in a charming and historic Baltimore neighborhood, but every bite of food is magic. Dont leave without trying the peach upside down cake! The ownership and staff are so friendly that you will leave with your spirit filled as much as your stomach. Give yourself time for this experience as it is often bustling and best enjoyed when you have more than a few minutes to take it in.

Everything about the place is fantastic. The people, the artwork, the lighting, even the f---ing chairs. Its the kind of cafe you wish you lived above. Im actually literally still waiting for my food but its so nice I had to write this right now. Will update once Ive eaten. Edit: as I posted this one of the ladies who works here brought me a blueberry muffin for my wait. It hadnt been ten minutes yet. Love it.

Cornbread muffin and this here raspberry preserves is what you want!! Did I mention that they have the Sheila Bridges Harlem Tolie French Wallpaper in Black as a mainstay of their magnificent art collection? Flyiness and city swag! Love it here! Where else can you be surrounded by amazing art from Bmore and National artist and hear playlists of UGK, Solange, and Stevie Wonder... And eat yummy vittles!

All the food is amazing. Great frittata and empowering environment. The music is always on point and the powerful black community makes for productive lunch meetings. The neighborhood is full of artists and families which makes this cafe unique. I love the chicken chipotle sandwich during lunch. Plus its the best place for our monthly book club meetings! Fave spot in Baltimore

Good coffee and good atmosphere. I like that people are usually sitting and talking instead of working on their laptops. The pastries are tasty and I love that they sell random vegetables and fruits too. Service can be a little slow, so if youre in a rush for some Joe this probably aint the place. But this a place to chill and talk with the cool staff and enjoy life I guess.

Definitely a hidden gem in the city! Will definitely begin spending some summer days here! So excited to be able to support a black owned business!

Stumbled across Dovecote Cafe today in need of a cup of coffee. This place is legit! Such an incredibly cool atmosphere and genuine local vibe. Coffee is pretty good and they gave a wide selection of teas. Would make a great casual breakfast spot. This is the kind of Baltimore business that needs our support. I only wish it was bigger!
