We have been in VA during last July 4 weekend and thought of having dinner in this restaurant after googling a little about this place and we were pretty convinced with the reviews before going there. We reached there around 10 pm and had to wait in queue for about 15-20 min before got the table. The ambiance was OK but the service was terribly poor. They didnt even served us plates and spoons before we asked them to give so. The waitress was not clean and she was stinking literally. After settling down and calling for someone to take the order, ultimately a guy showed up and tool the order. Again another saga of waiting started. We were very hungry by that time and it took them to serve three main courses and one appetizer about 30 min. The quality of food is better to not describe here because there is nothing to describe..it was most third class indian food we have ever had in VA. It was tasteless and without any sort of garnishing and above all they have charged 18% gratuity on total bill without even asking us for it. Certainly it was not an upscale place but these guys are so greedy that they serve poor quality expensive food and take illegal gratuities from all tourists. they even asked for additional tips but I had to stop them at that point. I would request every VA visitors try to avoid this place as much as you can and try some other places for your satisfaction !!

This is my first visit to Nawab at Hilltop. I recently visited (and loved) the one on Military Hwy in Norfolk. As soon as I walked in the door and smelled the aroma of the food - I told my friend - this is going to be great! Inside was neat and clean and decorated nicely. I saw the buffet area and thought - looks small. When I got close and saw the dishes - I knew I was in the right place. Each dish looked delicious and fresh and loaded with the things I like. This kind of buffet looks and tastes healthy - fresh veggies, lean pieces of chicken, sauces that dont look or taste loaded with fat. - It is pleasing to the eye. Wow!!!! What flavors!! Everything I tried was so packed with great flavor! There was a dish or 2 that was spicy and I loved them too. Im not up on the names of these dishes yet - but Ill learn them. There were 4 of us that met there for lunch (including one vegetarian) We all were of the same mind - the food was awesome and the price was right and the place was cool. The staff was helpful and friendly. I will return. I took a few photos and they are posted on here

If you have self respect, you should never go to Nawab at virginia beach. The main person-not sure if she is the owner or the manager, but she has absoutely no sense of what customer service is. Not sure how would anybody go in this restaurant. We were waiting for 10 mins and the main person, who would take the customer to there table was busy talking to some other people seating inside the restaurant. After us 7-8 more people came in and yet that lady had no sense of taking us to the table..and it was not that there were no table. Absoutely nonsense...There were 2 other waiters, starring at us but has no sense of asking us or atleast asking that manager will be with you shortly--Absoutely rubbish management staff. Also--Owner of Indian restaurant should learn customer service and also learn to respect fellow indian--should not just be concentration on American customers.

Ok, some of the reviewers on here must be on crack. Especially the person who compared Nawab to Rajput. Rajput is pretty inside and the servers are nice, but the food is no where near comparable to Nawab... not even close. While Ive not been to India (yet), I have had friends who have cooked Indian food for me, Ive also tried Indian food in Boston, Dallas, Amsterdam and London and so far Nawab beats them all (sorry friend). Im taking my mother here for New Years Eve and I cant wait! Ive eaten here 4 times so far over the course of a year and a half and have never been disappointed. My husand and I decided that we wanted to use Nawab for our wedding dinner (just the two of us - nothing fancy) since we had eaten here before and were so impressed with the quality of the food. A bit pricey, but if you have the extra dough a night at this restaurant is well worth it.

First off, the pricing is way to much for the quality of the food. You are essentially just paying for the indoor decor and their foods "presentation ". $4 for naan, are you kidding me?! The food itself may have looked good, however it lacked any flavor or any spice. I could cook better tasting food than them in my sleep. The Channa masala had hairs in it, yes, hairs. The naan was still undercooked and so was the chicken tikka. The portion size to price ratio was much unbalanced, $15 worth of chicken tikka masala fed less than 1/2 a person. I wish I could give it a half star however I can only give it one and that one star is just for their water and mango lassi. Overall I would not recommend this to anyone unless it was the last restaurant open on earth, even then you would be better off eating dirt.

I was initially unsure about visiting here due to its somewhat lower rating than other Indian restaurants in the area (Virginia Beach), however, instead I have found my regular restaurant for authentic and delicious Indian food! With dine-in and take-away options, this restaurant was welcoming and the service attentive. The best part, though, was the tantalizing array of appetizers and curries. Both curries tasted by my guest and I (Lamb Roganjosh and Chicken Tikka Masala) were incredibly moreish with beautiful flavors and generous servings. We also enjoyed the assorted appetizers and, of course, fresh garlic naan. The entire dining experience was a joy and I highly recommend this great local business!

They are extremely rude and impatient. They should not be representing the people of India. They were at the Taste of India event at the Ted Constant Center. There was a man in front of the line. While he was counting. They tried to give the plate, that they were originally handing to him, to someone else who was just inquiring. The person who was inquiring thought that was rude and decided not to take his plate. And yet the man still paid and took the plate after that. If any restaurant originally offers me a plate that I am paying for, then tries to give it someone who isnt in line, Id walk away. Next time I should document this behavior and expose this so you will understand what I saw.

Pretty standard Indian fare. Menu selection for dinner was somewhat restricted (ie, relatively few curry sauce types per meat), but also had some curries Id never heard of before. Ended up going with that old standby, chicken tikka masala, and expectations were met. Definitely less spicy than I had hoped for with a "medium" spice rating, and my capsaicin tolerance is not particularly remarkable, so if you like spicy definitely order at least medium-hot. Samosas were good, and my familys palak paneers were good. Naan bread was unusually light / fluffy. Good decor, attentive staff. Somewhat expensive, and the servers kept trying to upsell us more rice, but overall pretty good.
