I have been eating at this establishment for at least the last 2 years religiously at least 2 sometimes 3 times a week. I go there so much they open the door when they see me coming. I went there on January 25, 2015 around noon with my son. I was eating and my son wanted a couple of bites of my buffet to hold him over until I could get him something to eat when we left, he only had a couple of bites of rice. When I go up to pay for my meal I was informed I was going to be charged for 2 meals because my son had a couple of bites. I understand the rule dont get me wrong but I thought since I go there so frequently I would have at the very least been given a warning or tell me at the table I will be charged for 2 meals before I get up to pay. I didnt confront him who I believe is the manager because I was more stunned than anything. I hope that extra $10 he got today was worth not me going there any longer. I will never step foot into that establishment ever again, there are more than one Indian restaurant. Lets see I spend about $20 a week eating at their place on a regular basis so again I hope that extra $10 he got today was worth all the future money I would have spent to eat there. This is how establishments like this go out of business, I will spread the word.

I went with a very good friend of mine. It was a all girls day out. I had never tried Indian food before but love anything spicy so we decided to go here and try their lunch buffet. The line is long, but thats with ANY buffet at between 11:30 am-1:30 pm. The tables were set up very nice, folded cloth napkins, wine glassware. I felt a little under dressed with a long-sleeves shirt, jeans, loafers (my normal buffet wear)-next time I will probably dress up a little more. Their food was great. I really love their chicken dishes and vegetarian dishes A LOT. But my favorites were the never ending pita-like bread AND the spinach with the spices. The service is nice. Youre drink glass and pita-bread basket will never be empty. The only reason I didnt give it a 5-star because the waiter at the end was kind of hurrying us up and I found it rude since I left a very decent tip even though it was lunch buffet. We also had our purses in our hand and were about to get up from the table and a waiter asked up if we were done so we could leave. Yes we paid our checks, but we felt shooed away. I had my keys in my other hand at the same time he asked us to get up from the table. Other than that, I felt like I could go back again. Just NOT on a Friday during lunchtime.

The House of India is my favorite place to eat as it is by far the best Indian restaurant in Maryland! 5 stars!! My wife and I have been eating at this restaurant for at least a year now. I am from India so I know my food….they have very tasty food and very authentic!! We have been here to try the lunch buffet as well as at dinner time. The quality is superb! The only thing better than their food and ambience is their management team!! The manager is a true gentleman and he always comes to talk to us and we love chatting with him! The service is also fantastic! The serving team always greets you with smile and looks genuinely happy working here. I think this is an indicator of how well the place is run by the manager. Kudos! I’ll recommend this to all my Indian and American friends!

Me and the wife are avid Indian food fans, so we were happy to find out that a place with generally good ratings was within delivery. We ordered two standard dishes, the Chicken Tika Masala and the Chicken Saag with the Tandoori Assorted Appetizer. The sauce was ridiculous. It was runny and looked as if someone had tap danced in it wearing only dirty socks. On the plus side it did have a lot of flavor... on the downside it really wasnt that great. The appetizer was one of the more expensive ones and didnt really have that tandoori flavor one would expect from a quality Indian dining experience. And the Naan? Forget about it! It was droopy and sad, as though it wept and longed to be put out of its misery. Do yourself a favor on this one. Skip it. Dont sacrifice convenience for flavor.

Wow! Im guessing that the last two reviews came from other Indian restaurant competitors in the area because House of India is absolutely amazing. I have been to almost every Indian restaurant within 30 miles of Baltimore and this place is by far the best. There lunch buffet has the largest variety of any Indian restaurant I have been to in the area. All of their dishes have big bold flavors all the way across the board. If you are not looking for big bold flavors then go eat English food or something. In short, anyone who says this place isnt awesome does not know Indian food. Go get a plate full of their tikka marsala, mattar paneer, and goat curry then you will see what Im talking about. Happy eating!

Having traveled quite a bit and eaten at many of the finer places in cities that are known for their excellent restaurants, I was brought there by my wife for a quiet night out. I was floored immediately by the classic style and attentaveness of the staff. My glass was, literally, never less then half full. They are true to the cuisine at its roots and the taste is VERY high quality. I was a regular for about three years, having the front attendant know your name, favorite table and the exact drink and appetizer that you like is always nice, and have been away for way too long. Do yourself a favor. Leave the kids at home and ENJOY some wonderful food.

We had eaten next door at Akbar several times over the years, which is indeed good, but after reading the reviews here, opted to try House of India. Went before the movies, sat down at 6:00 and were done by 6:40. Fast food that couldnt have been much tastier. They started us with some free veggie appetizers that were great. My wife had Tandoori Salmon, which she oohed and aahed over, and my Lamb in cashew sauce was delectable as well. The garlic naan bread was piping hot and delicious. And the servings are such that you have lunch for the next day. All this, with no alcohol, and we walked out for a shade over $40. Fantastic!

I have been a regular customer here for many years. The place is under new management and it is better than ever. There is always available parking . The staff are friendly and offer great customer service. I would get a mango lassi if I went there - they seem to make them much better than many indian places. Buffet is best, It comes with naan bread. They vary the buffet slightly each day and sometimes they will have a really good zucchini dish - make sure you get it if its there. Dinner orders will be enough for a full days meal if you take the leftovers home as well.
