The waitress here was very rude on 8/25/17. I came in to ask for the crab cake special which I found out that was not on the board because the rude waitress said "Do you see it on the special lunch menu board and we have never served crab cake specials here" I myself did not look on the board because I had just came in prior which was Tuesday and the waitress at that time told me that the crab cakes were very good and not imitation crab cakes so I thought that I would try the item today. I would have been okay if the person would have said," It may have been there Tuesday, but we change our daily specials on certain days or each day depending on our cook, etc.... She could have also said I did not know we had crab cakes on the menu but its not on there today since I did not work on Tuesday(which she was not there I will tell you). this was a convenient and great place for me but now I will not be going back.

this resturant is always packed, because the food is unique and well executed. the duck prosciutto has a very lovely flavor. their soup selection is usually inspirational. they give their food a lot of passion. Richmond isnt a great town for food. typically the food in Richmond is either poorly executed hipster garbage, or chain restaurants. in a food oriented town the galley would probably be middle of the road, but in Richmond its a big fish in a small pond. the staff seems to actually give a damn about food, and makes a good effort, so it ranks head and shoulders above boring mindless hipster places like the black sheep... instead of trying to reinvent the wheel and failing the galley manages to try something different and hit home runs.... or at least solid triples. well done guys.

May 2017: Editing my previous review. Food is still good but the service is so slow that we have decided that we can never come back. Great food and a nice environment. After moving from downtown to the southside, it was a relief to have an option that provided good and interesting food for us suburbanites. The breakfast salad may change your life but it will change your view of salad in the morning. For dinner we rarely order off the menu, usually the specials board has something interesting. There are also a few good beers on tap most of the time. Portions can vary from reasonable to huge so ask first if you like sharing and you may get to enjoy your selection for several days.

Mediocre food, not worth the wait. No ambiance. TVs on during brunch. They serve cornbread (thats probably not gluten free) thats gotta be days old- its hard and dry and sitting in a bowl up on the shelf where the food comes out. I asked for nondairy creamer and they had none. Not even the powder stuff. My salmon frittata was greasy. Menu doesnt have gluten free or any other specific dietary indications. Plates are pretty cheap and menu variety looks appealing. Waffle special was nothing special. Crab cake special my dad liked.

Weve been twice and enjoyed visiting both times. A cozy little place tucked into a shopping center. You might miss it if you werent looking for it. But oh what an interesting menu. Sandwiches, eggs, seafood, Latin inspired dishes, the best cheese fries you will have, huge desserts. Everything is delicious as far as we can figure, even the paella! This place gets busy during the rushes, but the staff is always friendly, patient, and accommodating (even with children testing their patience).

Food was semi reasonably priced, but our meal took an hour and a half to come out, and it took our waiter 15 minutes to even get my Coke for me right off the bat. She also didnt ask my partner how he wanted his meat, so it was served to him rare with no option of being able to be cooked more upon our request. This was a Monday night, it wasnt insanely busy. One waitress was just standing around most the time. Wont go back.

Really solid food, decent atmosphere. Like a Main Street fan restaurant - but in an older South Richmond strip mall next to a nail place and a terrible bar, a pet wash pavilion, a record store, a beer/wine store, a huge multi-level antiques collective , and a recently closed very old Chinese eat-in emporium. See my two word review of the strip mall (Stratford Hills shopping center).. "Its... diverse. "

I dont understand how a restaurant that advertises "Carry Out" provides no website menu, no ability to fax you a menu, and worst of all doesnt seem to GIVE A DAMN ! When we called to place an order for our office, the woman answering the phone when asked replied "Yeah, we know thats not good, but what are you gonna do" SERIOUSLY ????? This is how you run a business?

Brunch food was good but the kitchen was the only part of this restaurant on its game. Service was slow, rude, and dismissive. Our food sat at the hot plate for way too long, our drinks were not refilled. Asking for things seemed like a dire burden to our wait staff. This place has a busy brunch, add a waitress if its too demanding for the crew there.

Get the Mitchell Burger! It was phenomenal! Onion rings are great! Staff was very good despite the heavy crowd. My husbands chicken fried steak was very chewy though. Ive been here several times. 4 of 5 times they are 5 stars. (Lentil burger is very good too.) The other 1 time is a 2ish. Worth the gamble though.

It was cool until the waitress got snappy when someone in my foursome asked when the food would be out. "I am doing the best I can" is not an appropriate answer". Say instead " I will go check on that" versus also adding you got here when everyone else did" is not very polite.

Great food for a very reasonable price. Unique design with laid back atmosphere. Good beer selection. Went with group of 4 and everyone loved their meals - carnitas, fish tacos, blackened salmon Caesar salad, and lentil burger - plus dessert.

The retro-dinner vibe is fine but the place feels a little old because of it, and since its new, Id like to see more "new" in the facade. But the service was quick and the food was pretty good. So I still think its a worthwhile destination.

Long wait times when busy. Service is friendly but waivers from good to mediocre. Our server was busting her behind while the other was regularly seen just standing. Food is good and the mango habanero hotsauce is awesome. Avoid when busy!

Favorite after kayaking spot and brunch! Yes it does get busy...the casual come as you are atmosphere, and amazingly yummy food, make this a favorite. Second only to their other restaurant Kuba Kuba! The boys know how to cook!

Perfect for lunch! I went there with a friend to celebrate accomplishments in their business. The food was great, portions were good, and the aromas were exhilarating. Dont judge a book by its cover, you dont want to miss this gem.

I split the Cuban sandwich and duck proscuitto sandwich with a friend. Both were good but the Cuban was my favorite. We also split a spice of chocolate cake which was delicious. Great diner with friendly service.
