I decided to go here upon a recommendation from another restaurant owner. First off I would like the say the food is fabulous, absolutely zero complaints on quality, flavor, atmosphere..etc, staff was very kind and friendly. I was looking for a nice place to take my son upon his graduation from ODU. It would be tough to say anything negative except that the portions (for tapas, and this is the only place I have had them other than in Spain around 15 years ago) were extremely small and the impression from our server it seemed like you could share family style (this may be possible with two people, definitely not with 5 people); for example: I have no idea how we shared between 5 people the Lobster Mac and Cheese, we had the impression it was a sharable item and each person got about a maybe a teaspoon to taste it, so the portion size to price is high, $9 dollars doesnt seem like a lot , but if you really wanted to have only this item as a starter you would probably have to order at least 3. Another item we got by recommendation was the Mixed Game Sausage Trilogy, again the way it was described as a good sized three half sausage links, but when it came to the table there were three small quarter cut links about the size of a hot dog cut in half then then cut in half down the middle (so with all 3 pieces it was about the size smaller than an average hot dog), I feel with larger groups that have never been here the server should make mention that the portions are not enough for more than 2 people to share and then it is only enough to get a a taste, other than giving us the impression they were decent sized portions to share (especially with a group our size). Even when she mentioned the soup, which was amazing and flavorful, I was thinking for the price it would be a nice bowl, nope was very small, smaller the a regular cup of soup. After the meal I had the impression this was more of a place to go and have drinks with friends or a date and taste some unique, flavorful and different foods, not a place for an actual dinner meal, not saying you couldnt but for me it would be way out of my budget. The price on the google search has two dollar signs ($$) out of 4, making you think it is reasonably priced. I think this is a little deceiving in regards to portion size and price, I would say if you were really going to rate the price on this it is a lot closer to 4 dollar signs ($$$$) for the amount of food your getting for the price. Again, dont get me wrong, the flavors and selection are outstanding its just a lot more than I think that someone who has never had tapas here before would expect, and the servers should be a little more direct on portion size. After $200 without any alcoholic drinks we were still hungry when we left.

One of the best restaurants I have been to. It has a rustic and cozy theme. Woody. Perfect lighting. Not too bright. Not too dark. When you walk in to the restaurant you get the vibe of just some bar and tables although as you walk in to the back and sit down and look at the menu then it all changes and you get the vibe of pure rustic and dense food with hearty ingredients, whiskey and scotch theme, good wine and employees allowed to express their expressions (didnt hide tattoos). Had several different appetizers and entrees and a few things an he decor can use a couple of upgrades (tv with the sound bar and old curtain hanging in there back) but the quality of the food and the effort put into the differences from different cultures and flavors is absolutely bulletproof. I commend the Chef for putting their hard work into their food and this Chef shows their uniqueness and personality by putting out the quality of the food they do. Besides the Portobello mushroom topped with the thick layer of Ranchy spinachy dip stiff everything was flavorful and quality. Im really impressed and if I lived here they would get my couple hundred bucks per month of business. Thank you for a wonderful experience and keep doing what youre doing!

I like how they are trying to attract a more upscale clientele to the Portsmouth area. I rated it to be "OK" for a few reasons. 1. It is overpriced. 2. The food is not that good. The presentation was alright, but it lacked a lot of key flavors. Those flavors that were there were a bit unbalanced. I dont want to say that the food was bad, but it wasnt that good either. 3. The floor staff was generally pleasant to be around. 4. The atmosphere is nice, but I feel that it was a little confusing again. Is it a tapas joint or an old country inn? Ive been there a few times, but I think thats all Im worth. Again, I like what it is trying to bring to the area, but Id drop the prices, use more local, wild ingredients, and Id stick with what it more resembles...a southern Virginia inn.....come on, the name is "Still" for crying out loud.

This is a wonderful place located in the basement of a historical building in olde town Portsmouth. The idea behind the place is it is representative of the prohibition era and serves drinks in relation to that period in time! The atmosphere is very quaint and the staff is attentive, efficient, and friendly. The food is wonderful and I would highly recommend the duck tacos, wings, and the bread with house made butter that changes week to week. The drink menu is excellent and I have yet to find anything I dislike. I will say this is a tapas bar so the prices can tend to be a little steep in comparison with the portion size, but it is well worth it if you are looking to treat yourself and/or others. I recommend you give this place a try, and I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I do!

With the very eclectic feel of this place and favorable reviews, we wanted to love Still. So much so, in fact, that we visited three separate times spaced a few weeks apart, and on different nights. Apart from the duck tacos, which were good( not great), our dishes were consistently disappointing. And at $30.00 plus per person without drinks we left with both our pallets and wallets feeling uncompensated. As a local we wish this establishment well. Sadly, it will need to happen without us. To the proprietor: you would do well to pay attention to all of the negative reviews, ( which are somehow relegated to a back page)and answer them. Literally everyone we know who have dined at Still report similar experiences to ours.

Outstanding Prohibition era whiskey bar and TAPAS restaurant. Ive been here three times and seen all the same staff. Thats a great sign. Not a lot of staff turn-over usually means a very well run establishment. Tapas = Small food portions. Highly recommend you come to this place with a) friends/date b) about 2 hours to kill. The atmosphere here drives meals that are spread out. Recommendation: This is the kind of place where, if youre feeling ambivalent about what you want to eat, you can let the chef pick your plates. Ive done this twice and gotten an awesome diversity of great foods. Pros: Staff, Food, Social atmosphere. Cons: They can really crank the A/C sometimes. Bring a light jacket.
