Let me start by the only good thing about this place..... The reason we choose to eat here.. The view... Which is awesome. It would be 100 times better if everything else was good.... So now let me explain my experience. We went inside, got our table.. The drinks were in plastic cups... while the table next to us got actual cups. We did not understand that, but it wasnt a big deal. We got our menu and there was not many choices, I do not eat seafood but my husband does. Then we look at the prices, they are a little pricey, but it was okay in our minds it would have been awesome food probably... YEAH WE WERE WRONG. The fries tasted like they got them out of a frozen bag.... dumped them in the fryer and then pulled them out right away. I did ask our waitress and she said they were hand cut. so my only explanation for the fries was that they were not cooked all the way. Lets move to the burger, it was okay not the best ive ever had. Now we are moving to my husbands food. He had the crab cake sandwhich. He did not like it very much. He did not eat much of his food and was going to bring it home, maybe to make it a little better. As he was packaging it up in the box... A GRAY HAIR! EW im sorry no matter what another persons hair in someones food is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got our waitress over I explained a hair was in the food, he barely ate it and I would not pay for something he did not eat and had a hair in it and then I passed the check back to her. She then preceded to get rude with me saying I was getting rude. I am not a rude person and have a very up beat attitude. ME RUDE I was then outraged. She got the manager over to me when the manager on duty came by she preceded to get rude with me and cut me off when I was explaining it. She then said she would only discount it because he ate half of it. Well let me tell you he had 3 bites out of it the most and there were not big bites. it was almost the whole sandwich left and all the fries. why would I pay for something that had a hair on it and he didnt eat. UNACCEPTABLE! And while me and my husband were driving home, we then realized the straws were put in our cups with no cover on the straw. so what does that mean? she probably touched it with her hands.. who knows if she washed them... After all of this my husband then gets sick... from what not totally sure... AND THE BATHROOM DISGUSTING!!!!!! THE SERVICE SUCKS THE FOOD SUCKS. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK THERE. And I will make sure everyone I know does not go there! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Should have known this would be a poor experience when as soon as we were seated on the half empty deck, the hostess said "umm let me see if I can find your server". Our food came out cold, after watching two tables had been seated after us, get their food. Server was unattentive and had to be asked three times for extra silverware after two of our sets fell on the floor. Then when she finally did bring them her remark was, "I rolled six when you got here, you just cant count!", and dropped them down. My wife had dropped a piece of lettuce with dressing on the floor before this, the server picked up the bleu cheese covered lettuce and threw it at my wife. I immediately asked for out bill and paid it on my card. My reciept was brought back by a different server, I then asked for the manager. After waiting 10 minutes for the manager that never came over, we got up and left, because we were on vacation and had other places we wanted to be. This place has about a 100 yards of docks before you get to the parking lot, mind you. As we were almost to the concrete pushing our one year old daughter to the car, the manager whom had been out of sight the entire time we were there, stops us and accused us of not paying our bill and threatened to call the cops after I had a few choice words for her about the service at her restaurant. I would give this experience zero stars if not for the bartender and the weather for the day. Overall Id maybe recommend going to have a drink at the bar for a sunset but dont order food, unless youre ok with paying $16 for fish and chips and $4 for a cold side of broccoli or any other side.

Well, let me start off by saying that I use this place as my get away from the Richmond area for many years, just to clear my head and spend some "me" time alone. With that being said, over the years the service continues to go downhill. Very rarely do you see the same faces serving during the summer time. I think that has lead to the demise in quality of service, the lack of training and passion for such a wonderful spot. The food is a little pricey but be-careful what you order. The fried oysters are great, fried fish has little to no seasoning but its lightly breaded perfectly, just not much on the flavor side. All the shrimp variations are good, but all in all the menu is a little out dated, it hasnt changed at all over the years. The alcohol drinks are priced very high, but they arent stingy with the amount of alcohol in them! If your not in a rush for anything and want to enjoy a great view on top overlooking the bay with a fairly okay food, this place is for you.

I am new to the area so I cannot compare to the issues that were reviewed in 2010... But the OV Pier just reopened its doors for the 2011 season and I was really impressed. My husband and I came for lunch and were greeted by an amazing and friendly waitress, Alyssa. She was so sweet to fill us in on the area and give tips and advice for places to go and see. Now, for the good stuff - THE FOOD! WOW!!!! I read that the pier had just hired new chefs from the Freemason Abby and it SHOWS! The lunch specials were out of this world good. My husband got the $6 special, which was a Patty Melt and it was juicy, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned. I ordered the $7 special, which was Shrimp Scampi over noodles. I cannot even DESCRIBE how good the Shrimp Scampi was. The shrimp were massive, fresh, and tossed in a butter-herb sauce. I cannot WAIT to go back. And to top it all off, this little piece of heaven is right in our backyard! It cant get much better than this!

Went there loving the view and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, but unfortunately I was met by questionable service. Initially the server was pretty friendly and very bubbly, however, I went for the purpose of having a drink on the pier but was denied because I had a paper license. I had ordered a replacement license that I was awaiting in the mail so I had yet to received the hard copy so I offered other cards that had my name and photo on them, even my insurance card! Still I was denied and realized the offense to my integrity because the waiter openly did not believe me, my legal license, or the supporting documents. I left and went to a higher class establishment who accepted my paper ID and found the fact that I had experienced this issue ridiculous! Guess it worked in my favor nonetheless because the food selection was very poor and would have been a waste to order without a drink.
