Ill start by saying it was restaurant week. I say that because Ive heard that the quality of the food sometimes suffers during this week. None the less, the food at Sotto Sopra was nothing short of disappointing. The first course of 1) Caesar Salad & 2) Polenta were both disgusting. I rarely use this word to describe food. However, even though I was paying so much for the first course, I refused to finish it. Second course included 1) Duck ravioli and 2) Gnocchi. Again, I refused to finish my food. Well, you would hope that the dessert would make up for it. While the 1) Apple turnover was fairly good the 2) espresso creme brule was another disaster. All in all, some of the worst Italian food Ive had in Baltimore (for a $$ restaurant). I would go back to try their food when it is not restaurant week in order to make this a fair review. Ill be sure to update this then.

I wanted to leave a review for Mike who was our server yesterday. My wife and I have been to Sotta Sopra on several occasions and yesterday for the first time we brought our 8 month old daughter for lunch. We were giving our daughter some lettuce because she is teething and after seeing this Mike brought out a bowl of Strawberries for her try, thinking she might enjoy them more. Awesome service! After we finished our meal, which was fantastic as always, Mike came out with a small cup of ice cream for the baby to try. It was a very small and simple gesture but in my eyes it was a total class act that will have us returning for years to come. Thanks Mike for a great experience!

Pros: restaurant week menu includes their entire menu, overall good food, great wait staff, good atmosphere for a date, overall we like the place. Cons: My mother believes they served her regular oranges instead of blood oranges as advertised on their menu for her appetizer. We understand when you have to substitute an item but they should have said something. Overall the prices are high for the small portion sizes, however, the prices for a bottle of wines are terrific. Good location and Italian food. Not the top of Bmore Restaurants list, but def a good one to try out esp if in the area.

Wonderful experience even for Restaurant week. This restaurant offers a wide variety of choices in each course during restaurant week which makes this one of the best dining choices at a very reasonable price--particularly given the quality and taste of the food and the gracious and well-paced service. As for one of the other reviewers statements about seating if youre black, I have to say that I have dined here on multiple occasions and I have never experienced anything less than top notch service and I am quite unmistakably black. This is one of my Baltimore favorites.

If you are looking for an intimate, romantic, classy authentic Italian date spot this is it. Once a month on Sunday you can enjoy a 5 course meal while listening to a live opora performance. Sit at the bar and enjoy a rich glass of wine or hand crafted cocktail. If a meal is what you are looking for there is a menu full of handmade pasta with homemade sauces or hearty meat and seafood dishes.... my only downside is that the valet messed up one of the custom wheels on my sports car.

We had a delightful lunch here. We had just finished the interesting tour of Americas first Catholic Cathedral that is just across the street from Sotto Sopra and we were ready for an early lunch. This restaurant is classically beautiful that I seldom see in the US but have seen in Paris or Rome. Excellent service, wonderful food. Treat yourself to a dining experience when you have the time for a long lunch or dinner at an interesting restaurant.

My wife and I always wanted to try this place. Saturday night everything worked out. Great karma.Found a parking space directly across the street, walked in to an extremely crowded room and they just had a cancellation. We had an excellent meal! The service was top rate. The Pork Osso Buco was the best. To me it was a great twist on Veal Osso Buco, savory fall off the bone tender and delicious. A must try when available.

Waiter was rude and inattentive, service was unbearably slow, they were out of the bottles of wine we ordered and the recommended substitution was dreadful. All of which could be taken in stride had the food been remarkable, but Ive had better Italian at chain restaurants! The atmosphere of the place is its only redeeming quality, however it fails to justify the not insignificant price tag. Will not be returning.

Quaint little restaurant on Charles Street in Mt Vernon. They serve high-end Italian fare with an associated price tag. The bufala caprese is recommended. The wine list is large, but not overpowering and the wait staff were very helpful with the selection of both food and drinks. Reservations and dressier attire are recommended during busier times, though you can get away without either most of the time.

The restaurant was quite tacky with horrid wall murials. The menu consisted of several three course options. I assume the limited selections was due to the ability of the chef to make anything outside of his book of receipes lifted off cans of Chef Boyardee. The Restaurant had many customers, I imagined never had italian food before.

Embarrassing, I WAS NEVER GREETED. The waiter saw me, it wasnt like I wasnt dressed in a tailored suit and black shoes shirt and tie....UMMMM.. maybe I wasnt on the list. However the first time I went it was great, but I made my reservations online then. I just dont understand what happened the second time. Maybe Im crazy.

We had a group of six people and decided to try the Charleston restaurant. I had seen it many times from the highway but never ventured off of the highway to eat there. So, we all decided that it was a convenient location for the six of us to meet. The service was slow from the very beginning

In the interest of full disclosure I had my first date w my fiancé here 2 years ago. However Ive been here many many times since and it remains my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. Nothing but the best in service, food, and atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and make yourself a regular.

Would go back indefinitely! The staff was very nice and all the food was amazing. The foccacia bread was to DIE for. All the entrees were fantastic. The bartender was great as well, we are coming out of fall now but we got to try their seasonal house infused bourbon! Mmm!

Sotto Sopra is a delightful place, innovative cooking and menu selections, gracious service. And a nice selection of wines by the glass -- served generously. Try the salmon panini on the lunch menu, or the apple streudel for dessert. Good expresso. Recommended.

The renewed hottest restaurant in Baltimore. Maybe best from DC to Philly. Dont miss the new menu from Tuscany. Fresh, exciting and outstanding flavors for the value. Riccardo is back in the kitchen with his all star staff! Valet the car and love it!

Just left. 4 staff at door area. Had 2 people sitting at a table with menus with nobody else in the place. We stood waiting for someone to even acknowledge us for several minutes. Then left. We had NO desire to beg for service!
