After reading the reviews my wife and I decided to give Gurus a shot. As an aspiring chef it is important to me for a restaurant to meat certain expectations and to be perfectly honest we were ready for a good, fresh, Indian cuisine experience. Based on some of the mixed reviews here we were not sure if this restaurant was going to meet our expectations. It not only met them but Gurus fresh, authentic Indian food was delightful to say the least! We went for lunch so the prices were amazing the portions were perfect and the food was to die for. Fresh Indian cuisine at its best! We had the Lamb Korma, Chicken Korma, and Lanb Vindaloo and we highly recommend both of these selections. For Lunch they also have a buffet our for $8.99. Trust me, that is worth it for this nice Indian food. For our lunch entrees we payed around $6.00 a plate. For dinner the dishes are around $12 and up, these prices are amazing for Indian find dining. The other thing I would like to address is the person that said this was not authentic Indian food and they said to try the "India Queen", well that is incorrect, this is indeed authentic Indian food, and the other restaurant as gone out of business. To me as a chef that speaks about quality of food and service. Dont take my word for it, go to Guru for lunch or dinner and give it a shot yourself. You find an amazing, relaxing, comfortable atmospher, and incredible Indian Food!!! 5 Google Stars from me because I love it!!

The biryani was way too spicy, even we ordered medium spice but it was basically inedible. My husband is from Pakistan, we are accustomed to authentic and spicy food. We complained and the waiter refused to take it back to the kitchen to adjust. He also refused us extra rice to blend the spice down ourselves. He didnt apologize but instead tried to explain it away. Very disappointing. The paneer mugalai was good and not too spicy but I felt the seasonings were dull. The riata was tasty but too watered down and runny. The naan was perfect. The chai masala was good but the waiter didnt seem to know what milk tea was. Food was way over priced for the suboptimal quality. Service staff were polite and attentive if unsatisfactory to resolve our issues with the over spiced food. We wont return. Baba ganoush on Route 1 has better Briyani, fresher tastes and better prices.

On our recent Thanksgiving Day visit to this cozy out of the way hole in Central Park, we were greeted by a Latino waiter who did a fine job refilling our water drinks as a teenage Indian supervised from afar. As we began to dine with traditional Indian music and decor accentuating the moment, we were disappointed to learn that the very small buffet lacked the traditional Indian seasoning, aroma and flavor.

The lunch bar is always good, and I enjoy trying the new foods. The service is always excellent, the atmosphere surprisingly upscale, and the food is fantastic. They are very good at listening to you to find out how spicy youd like the food. The salmon with yogurt sauce is great! I love the fresh baked naan! Wish theyd put the licorice and anise seed back out front again....

I have eaten at so many Indian restaurants around the country and this remains one of the finest. I may be a little biased since it was my first, but their lunch buffet is unbeatable in price and quality and their evening entrees (especially the chefs special paneer dish) are excellent. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the food is tasty.

I am sorry to say that the food here was very bland and did not taste like true Indian cusine. My mother-in-law is from south India and ate there once and swore she would never come back. If you are looking for real Indian Food in Fredericksburg - try India Queen a brand new place off of rt 3. That is real Indian food.

Great mango lassi thats heavy on the mango - seems to be a rarity around here. Butter chicken was smokin spicy, and the staff gladly prepared it again. The second round was awesome! Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Lunch buffet was scrumptious! Every dish was good. Not as hot (spicy) as I like, but they brought out their hot sauce for me and it was perfect. Great price too
