My girlfriend and I have been here a number of times and have always enjoyed the food and the service. It may not have the best appearances, inside or outside, but I feel really comfortable every time I go here. The last time my girlfriend and I went I actually took off my shoes without thinking about it; I just felt so cozy. We usually wait about fifteen to twenty minutes for our food, but it is always steaming hot and delicious when it comes out, so we dont care about the wait time. Were pretty certain they cook meals as theyre ordered. They are usually empty inside, as mentioned in previous comments, but we have noticed that they do take-out orders a good bit. We typically order the dumplings and then some kind of a meal with chicken. Not that theres anything wrong with beef or pork or anything, we just really love chicken. Last time we ordered sweet and sour chicken and chicken lo mein. The sweet and sour chicken was more on the sweet side, but nothing too sweet, and was very delicious. The chicken lo mein was good, but we felt like it could have used a little bit of salt and pepper, but that may just be us. It was still delicious and we ate it up. The woman that works there is so sweet and we absolutely adore her. I have a hard time hearing her on the account that I struggle to hear in general, so I just follow my girls lead in responses because otherwise Id just smile and nod. It may just be me, but she was a soft voice.

This place is SKETCHY! Now that the psychic reader down the street has been arrested, this is the next mystery in town. Went there once for a work lunch. Will never go again. I had to fill up a cup of water at the bathroom sink to pour into the urinal in order to flush it. The wooden bowls that they serve the dry crunchy appetizer noodles in were sticky and had ants crawling on them. The whole place is darky and dingy with hardly any windows. I can only imagine what other critters are crawling around the kitchen. I saved the best for last though... They run a taxidermy business out of the basement. One of our guests walked down on accident looking for the bathroom. Makes sense seeing all the stuffed animals in the restaurant. They have a ton of caged animals in the backyard. Ducks, chickens, who knows what else. Look through the little window on the back door. I can only imagine some of the meat substitutions going on. Just look at the backyard on Google maps. Gives me the creeps thinking about it. I dont know how they stay in business. The parking lot is nearly empty when I drive by. The food we were served was OK, but I couldnt get over the ants and everything else I saw.

Very poor customer service. I called to ask if they deliver - was told no and then the lady hung up on me. I called back and advised that I was going to place an order and was hung up on from the previous call - no apology given. I asked when they closed and advised I needed a moment to get my order together, she said call back in 10 minutes and hung up on me again!!!

A hole in the wall kind of restaraunt. They have great Korean food. The place looks sketchy, but it really isnt. Im not sure what the place was before becomibg the Bamboo House. The servers give me a feel of a home cooked meal and I love the side dishes (kimchi, sprouts, etc.) I recommend trying it out.

Like most awesome places the outside is very plain, and like the other posts it had to be somethig else before it became bamboo house. The waitress was very nice, I had the Korean dishes and they were on point! I loved it all... More people need to come here! Defiently a great place to eat!

Tried to eat here at 6pm on a Friday night. The restaurant was empty except for one table of women who carefully avoided ever making eye contact with us while arguing in Korean. After 10 minutes of standing and waiting patiently, we left.

While its not all that authentic (the Korean food at least), it is still tasty. Its also more authentic than the other places in and around Charlottesville. The service can be very slow at times, but Ive never seen it crowded.
