I didnt realize it was part of GAR which in general are clean places. I expected a lone star type place but it was nicer than the couple of lone stars Ive been in before. There was a choice of chips/salsa or buttered rolls to start with, free of charge, of course. I wanted one thing and my wife the other so they were nice enough to give us a couple rolls and chips/salsa. Both things tasted really good. The salsa is how I like with no chunks with a consistent texture - is pureed the right word? It wasnt spicy hot, which is fine with me, I like taste over heat. My wife and I kind of over ordered amount-wise because we had never been there before (at least that is our excuse.) We shared a combo (chicken/steak) fajita and I also ordered a baked potato and my wife ordered a chopped salad. There was a larger size fajita platter for two but we didnt need that, with all things on the table, we were just fine and I am no light weight. Weve still only been there the one time but my wife mentioned how this should be our go-to place from now on. We live in N. Springfield and usually dont go over the other side of Little River much for food. Too bad, we could have discovered this place sooner. For some reason we had a waiter and then a waitress even though we saw the waiter later on. Hope I didnt offend the guy or anything. hehe. Our waitress was very nice and after awhile told us her name and asked for ours. Very pleasant. One funny thing, I am a bit of a cheap SOB. When I first saw that the fajias were $17-$18 I was thinking how some places only charge maybe $13 for fajitas but by the end with the chips/salsa, the service, etc. the price didnt concern me at all. Oh yeah, the fajitas came with beans and rice. My wife loved the beans and I liked the rice so it worked out perfect that the combination of the two of use liked everything they brought out.

This place is another hard hitter from the Great American Restaurant chain. Firstly I’d like to say how well GAR keeps the quality of their different branches so high. I’ve been to the Artie’s in Fairfax Circle, Ozzie’s in Fairfax Corner, and Mike’s American Bar and Grille in Springfield. All of them blow me away. I’m very pleased that Silverado in Annandale is still around. Aside from some fast food chains, there are very few American restaurants around in Annandale. Don’t get me wrong, I love Korean food and Peruvian Chicken, but I don’t want to have to drive 20 minutes out to have to get a top of the class steak. Thankfully I don’t have to! All thanks to Silverado. Silverado has a great date atmosphere. So my significant other and I like to come here on special occasions. I know it’s terrible of me, but I really like getting burgers here. I know there are so many other better things but I have my reason. Now that Fuddruckers is gone, I have to get my gourmet burger fix here. When I’m feeling ambitious I really like to get the chicken tortilla soup of the day if I’m lucky enough to be there when they serve it. And when I’m feeling like a champion, I get the bread pudding desert. Sometimes I’ll get take away for just the soup and the bread pudding when I’m feeling exceptionally decadent and lazy. I almost forgot! The little bread balls that come before the meal! They are one of the greatest things to have ever been created. The bread is tender and fresh out of the oven. They have a slight sweet taste to them which sets them apart from other restaurants’ bread. Then I slather on the butter… BECAUSE I CAN. I hope you never leave Silverado. I’ll miss you too much.

I do enjoy the food at Silverado but they do not do pick-up orders!!! This is most frustrating, especially because I work in the complex off Evergreen Lane about a 2 minute walk to Silverado. Why would I want to carry-out if I work so close?? Every time I have been here I am never out in less than an hour, regardless of how many people I am with. When I called and asked if I could place an order for carry-out the person put me on hold a couple of minutes, then finally came back and said they dont do that as their food doesnt travel well. She recommended I go to the bar, order, wait for my food to come out then have the bartender box it up for me. What?!?! Are you serious??? The point of me calling in is so that I dont have to waste me time 1. waiting and 2. WAITING! I really dont understand what the difference is, because I can go sit down and order and then order an additional meal for carry out..... how is it that when I do that the food travels well??? Really upsetting!

First thing you will notice is that very one of the staffers is very friendly and proficient. Table service may come from any staff member which speeds things up greatly. The design of the building was very nice and not over done. The facility had the aroma of burning mesquite wood. Quite welcome. As for the food, I had the Bubble & Squeak. The biscuits had a texture common to homemade versions from a cast iron pan. The chicken was crispy and drown in just the right amount of gravy. I am not a fan of their version of french fries -- the slices of potato with a strange batter. We also tried the Brunch portion of fajitas. The heaviness of the eggs was nice. But their claim of good fajitas is laughable. Any Mexican joint in Texas, even the cheapest, has better fajitas. People on the east coast just dont understand good TexMex.

Seriously? Every great american restaurant is exactly same food. Just typical american. Not to mention same geriartric crowd. Im sorry but its just boring and depressing. Only reason despardo does well is that there literally is no other non asian restaurant for 5 miles. Same drunk faces at bar always and food is average at best. They have done a great job at marketing their brand and creating hype around it. I can cook a better steak at home any day. Cocktails are weak. Do yourself a huge favor drive few extra miles into DC and get something original. Great american hasnt changed in 20 years and its one notch above a fast food restaurant.

Wow!! My new favorite place for margaritas and fajitas. The prickly pear margarita had a great taste. The steak fajitas were superb, but the best part of all was the service. They treat you like you are at an expensive 5-star restaurant. The staff was very friendly, but more importantly, they had just the right amount of visits to the table to see if you needed anything and when a plate was finished, the dirty plate was quickly wisked away! Everyone moved with purpose. Everything was very fast even though the place was full. The management staff at Silverado run a tight operation! Congratulations! Ill be back.
