Mt Airy Tavern was closed, so my parents and I tried this place while they were visiting for the day. Figured it was worth a try. Well, anyone else who is figuring the same, just say no. The place doesnt look bad, but the food and service sure is. Not one of our four meals was served hot (even the pizza). When we told the waiter, he asked us if we wanted him to heat it up...Haha. There was nothing we liked about the meals, except for the proportions. Asked for coffee, no coffee given. Waiter said he forgot; no apology. Then we sat and sat, waiting for him to come ask if we need anything else, like the check. The place wasnt even busy, but he struggled. When he finally came around, and we commented on the food and service, the prick said, with attitude, that he was "sorry for the crappy service, but I couldnt help it." He then walked away while we were talking. Came back with the check and still acted prick. Ive never been to a restaurant where the waiter acted like he did. We should have talked to the manager, but we just wanted to get out of there, as my parents had a two hour drive home. Anyway, this turned out longer than I wanted it to be. Shows how unhappy I was with this place. Go to the Mt Airy Tavern. I love that place.

My husband and I stopped in for breakfast this morning (Sunday around 8 am). The place was busy but not swamped. We did wait for a table. We were seated and proceeded to wait 15 minutes for anyone to even notice that we were sitting there and ONLY after my husband asked if there was a server for our table. At this point, we were ready to leave however we really wanted to try the food. After placing our order, it took another 10 minutes to receive our coffee and water...then our food came out. The food was very good. Our waitress came back ONCE during the entire visit and we asked for our check at that time...it was another 8 minutes before we saw the bill. We paid and left...not sure we will return as the entire wait staff seemed like they were trying NOT to be noticed...many tables were complaining either about the wait time OR about incorrect orders. Sad as this town needs restaurants....perhaps as the staff ages together it will improve. The ironic piece of this entire visit...as we left, the staff was very friendly and several told us to have a nice day, etc...geez, too bad this much effort wasnt applied to the customers entering the restaurant.

As much as we like the place and the staff, we dont go out for the place and the staff. We have been to the Inn 8-9 times over the past 5 months in hopes that it would become our go-to neighborhood bistro. Not happening. Still have hope and I only write this to encourage the mgmgt to take some action. The food has been poor. Last week, Chicken Cesapeake was dry and tough, the Md. fried chicken the same, mashies were cold, weve also had mediocre pizza, dry roast beef, turkey platters and fish and chips that werent good. On a non-busy night, the bartender actually told my wife that it was too much work to make the drink she wanted . DONT DO THAT! .. and had an extreme attitude as she thought about what she liked that he could make. DONT DO THAT EITHER! To the mgmt: Youve got great potential here, please train your staff and acquire a chef that cares. Thank you.

Staff is friendly, nice atmosphere, pretty decent beer selection. The food was poor and overpriced. We went in for Sunday lunch. I ordered a prime rib sandwich off of the specials menu for $12. The meat was burnt and dry, the bread was soggy. It was served with a small pile of potato chips (looked like Lays) and a pickle spear. The sandwich was small and left me hungry. My wife ordered the crab cake platter for $17. It was a single cake and she reported it was average. It comes with two sides, the vegetable was overcooked. The mac and cheese was the best part but nothing special. Portions were definitely on the small side given the price. The beer was definitely the highlight, I had a milk stout from a local brewery, a pint was $5. Overall disappointing, probably wont return.

My wife and I came here for Fathers Day and It was everything that I wanted in a good food experience. I come here monthly with the Mid-Atlantic Networking group so I tried "something different". WE had the Chicken Oscar (Bearnaise sauce on the side) and it was VERY good; not excellent because the chicken was a bit over cooked, but still worth ordering again. Our appetizer was a spinach dip with sliced pita bread and it was a meal in itself. We were too stuffed for the dessert; but I really wanted to try the Chocolate frosted, Chocolate whipped Chocolate cake. The staff was always ready to serve us and Shannon was VERY pleasant (as always). Its a shame that we live 45 miles away or we would eat there more often. Thank you Mt. Airy Inn

My daughter and I went to the Mt Airy Inn for lunch--and it was TERRIBLE...She had a chicken pot pie and mashed potatoes that tasted like GLUE-- no seasoning at all, not even parsley does the chef taste this stuff?. I had an au jus beef sandwich--0h my the beef was dry-flavorless and the au jus was barely warm...best thing about the entire lunch was a good pickle. Asked for the top of the sandwich on the side--came NOT as I requested--the so called swiss cheese was barely melted. Prices are not good, service ok--NOT good choices-- does everyone want a TURKEY Reuben??? Duh. WILL not go back--couldnt even get a price on the Chesapeake eggs benedict...hmmm...me thinks youll be outta there before long unless the folks have NO palate.

We had a family birthday party here. They werent ready for our reservation when everyone arrived. The kid who set up the table as we were seated had a wad of chewing tobacco so large in his cheek, we were all amazed he was able to contain it. It was not a very apetizing start for a meal to have this kid serve us. The service was VERY slow, and only those who ordered the Chicken Chesapeake were happy with their meal. The Steer Tips were so over done, the chef could have been arrested for arson. Too bad the memory of a 60th Birthday Dinner is a bad one because of this restaurant!

The wife and I went on a Sunday ~1pm to watch the games and get a bite to eat in the bar. Agree with the other ratings on here, we had a pizza, it was flavorless. Service was lazy at best, staff seemed content to sit around talking amongst themselves, while rolling silverware and watching the game - mind you, this is right on the bar as soon as you enter the restaurant. The place is new so hopefully management gets the hint and whips it into shape. Only bright spot is interesting beers - though the average price is probably $9/beer.

The food selection was very good, along with the choice of beer. I was greeted with smiling faces and a warm welcome, but I must interject that the atmosphere seemed very unprofessional. One blonde haired lady in particular, who seemed to be a manager, was constantly texting on her phone at the hostess stand. At one point, I was waving to get her attention, but she was too occupied with her phone to notice me. Overall, the food was great but the little things like that changed my opinion of the restaurant.
