After 2+ years of Honey Pigging, I finally write this review. My first trip to Honey Pig was in early 2012 and this place has had its ups and downs since then. At first, it was my go-to Korean BBQ joint due to its meat selections, lively atmosphere, and hours. Nowadays, I typically tell friends and coworkers more about Kogiya than Honey Pig, and I think thats because in the last 2+ years, Honey Pig has been rolling down a slippery slope. The quality of meats was at first pretty decent but once 2013 came, I discovered that the quality diminished. Its gotten a little better in late 2014 but still not on par with Kogiya. Order thinly sliced beef brisket and thinly sliced pork belly (my favorites). Spicy pork belly is also pretty good. In the past, the soups (doenjang-jjigae and steamed egg) were included when you ordered your grilled meats. However, thats no longer the case which is disappointing seeing that most other Korean BBQ joints include both soups in your order. Also, the banchans have changed and not for the better. The portions are much smaller now and with less variety. Honey Pig is pretty notorious for getting that Korean BBQ smell all on your clothes. My clothes used to stink of BBQ for days after visiting Honey Pig. To be quite frank, the only reason why I come to Honey Pig anymore is if theres a longer wait time or its past closing time at Kogiya. Otherwise, Kogiya all the way. Service here sways from somewhat competent to downright rude. Servers frequently speak in a terse, condescending tone and theyre clearly trying to get you out ASAP so they can accommodate the next group. Also, if youre in a big group, they only split 4 credit cards so bring cash if you can to make things easier. Another complaint: In the past, Ive seen signs on their walls that say that even if youre above the legal age of drinking, if you have a vertical drivers license vice a horizontal one, they will refuse to serve you alcoholic drinks and will refuse to even LOOK at the license. Is that even legal? Can they do that? I dont know, but it seems ridiculous and downright lazy. The last time I went, I didnt see these signs so perhaps they changed their minds. Even so, it was absurd to suggest such a rule in the first place.

CENTREVILLE LOCATION Please note that this review is 100% about the service my friends and I received tonight. I walked in about 9:30PM and asked for a table for 5, no problems. Friendly greeting as usual. We all ordered and out tab was close to $100. We gave the lady 5 credit cards and she promptly said "no only three". I looked at her, and asked why. She said the machine will only take three. Which I knew was a lie, because I have come here with larger parties and it has never been an issue. She left the table and sent another waitress over who was very smug and rude for no reason. She claimed it was the manager who changed the policy. I pointed out to her that it was posted no where in the restaurant nor did they inform us when we came in. The thing that was the most frustrating was I have been coming here with either my boyfriend or other friends since the location opened. It was the WORST SERVICE. She was so nasty. When i thought it was resolved she had left and no one came back to take out money. So I had to go to the counter and tell her either they take multiple cards or we leave and they lose a $100. She argued with me further and then told me she would take 4 cards. At that point I was fuming, I told her what she was doing was not right and she needed to split all 5 cards right then and there or get a manager (who was not there). A little advice Honey Pig. If you are going to change something to your policy you should put up one of those cute little signs you do when a living social deal comes around that points out all the exclusions. Otherwise dont expect a great reaction from customers. Post it on your website, or menus. Even have the waitress tell tables that are larger than three people! You should probably reconsider your staff too. I wish I recalled that young womans name. She is the reason I wont be back for a very long time. Which is too bad because I live right behind the place, and have brought in multiple friends and family members. On a more positive note the food was delicious, again the one star rating was for the poor experience.

What welcomes you to this new hot spot in the middle of nowhere in Centreville is the throbbing music heard from the parking of endless loops of sugary sweet K-pop songs. The entry grants a preview what is inside videos of 10 troops girl/boy band gyrating to the synthesized music of fun! The restaurant is an open interior, loud and bustling with groups of people and of course more K-pop music filled with round and square tables all each with a grill in the middle because after all this is why one has come to this. The service is friendlier if not quick(only after peak hours. During peak forget it) We went once during dinner time with a line out the door and a late night where it was a bit more relaxed and actually more enjoyable experience. Ill stick with the later. An as the name states this is not for time to bring your gluten, vegan organic friends to eat. They do however use Himalayan salt! There is the usual assortment of starters like seafood pancake and dumplings. Then on to the main event. Here they cook for you from Bulgogi(beef), Kalbi, Prime rib and pork belly which Im sure most will stick too. For the adventurous pork neck, beef tongue, intestine or even tripe. The banchan is a bit lack luster but steam eggs is also part of it. The seafood pancake was a bit thicker than Im use to but not bad. The meats looks fresh but portion vs price is small. The waitress will cook it for you as you wait ever patiently to grab the meat. It smells and looks delicious. Was I excited to try Honey Pig as NoVa is lacking in late night eateries and Korean BBQ Honey Pig seeks to fill the spot. It is fun spot with groups after a late night of revelry on the town(Im not sure what out on the town is in Centreville but lets go with that) but as most Korean food goes it is still over price small portions but a sacrifice for open 24hr with a smile(that is only included during after peak hours only).

I have been here twice and both times the food was very good. My only criticism of the food is even though I have only been twice that the food is not consistent. I ordered their bulgogi both times and one time the bulgogi was spicy and the other time it wasnt. The decor isnt much, but this restaurant doesnt boast itself on its decor and it is by no means a high class restaurant were you would expect to have this amazing interior, so you really need to take it for what it is which is a Korean BBQ place that is open most days 24 hours day. The service is horrible. In fact their service is so horrible that I will NEVER return. My husband and I went with another couple this weekend, and the other couple arrived a little late. My husband and I were already seated and we ordered drinks and an appetizer. The second the other couple arrived our waitress came back to take our order; however, because the other couple had literally just sat down we were not ready. The waitress proceeded to roll her eyes at us when we told her we were not ready. Her behavior was beyond inappropriate. After we finished our meal we were sitting around talking and finishing our drinks. The SECOND the last person finished their drink a waitress (a different one from earlier) walked up to our table and said "I need this table--you need to go." I have NEVER been asked to leave a restaurant. I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect and udder rudeness anywhere. And for the record when we left after being so rudely asked to leave there was NO ONE waiting for a table. The food is not worth the horrible customer service this restaurant has.
