Easy parking, with convenient side drop off for seniors who have difficulty walking distances. Greeting was friendly, reservation honoured promptly. Tables are small. We were at a 4 top with 5 people , chair added at end. Tables and booths on raised section less crammed in and noisy than on the main floor. Patio dining available in season. Lavatories clean and well serviced. Waitress was bubbly and upbeat, paid close attention to special requests, offered alternatives and honoured special requests. Knowledgeable about the wines by the glass. Their bread is freshly baked and outstanding. Unfortunately, the basket of a half loaf for a table of 5 with a small ramekin of delicious creamery butter is inadequate, and appears stingy. They replenished happily and repeatedly, however, a little common sense (and an extra half loaf) is warranted for three or more diners. I believe that the expression in the food service business is: just give them the pickle The prices are fair for the exceptional quality of food, and the menu is current, extensive and vegetarian-friendly. Meat eaters will love the prime rib on Friday night. I hate mashed potatoes everywhere but here. The kale served with the crab-stuffed fish was the only disappointment. Limp and bitter. The server was quick to offer peas instead. I suggest the kitchen switch to broccoli.. The courtesy and genuine hospitality is evident in the thank yous from all the staff you pass as you leave. With many dining choices in the Stowe area, The Whip is a classic that never disappoints.

The Turkey Dinner was poorly proportioned for the price ($20); half a plate of peas, 4 large slices of turkey, then a small amount of mashed potatoes, even smaller amount of stuffing (about 4 bites worth), and about twice as much cranberry sauce. For the price, there should have been more stuffing, more cranberry sauce, and less peas. The Burger was ordered well done, and came out somewhere between medium rare and medium (very pink throughout). When brought to her attention, the waitress gladly took it back to the kitchen to have it thrown on the grill for a bit longer. When it came back, we were informed "they put it on the grill with the thing on top of it", which I could only assume meant it was microwaved, since there were no signs of a "thing" (which I figured meant the "grill press") being used on the burger. Even after this, the burger was still pink in the middle and nowhere near well done. Add to this the fact that the waitress was in such a rush everywhere that she literally finished her sentences while walking away from the table, and we had ourselves a very disappointing experience. The only two redeeming qualities were its oatmeal bread which unfortunately was not served warm, but was still quite tasty; and its Sac de Bon Bon dessert which is a chocolate bag filled with chocolate mousse. I dont foresee us returning for a sit down dinner here; the experience was simply not on the same level of the exorbitant total price of dinner for two. Dessert to go, however, is a very likely option.

We are staying at smugglers notch and was recommended by a friend to go to this restaurant. So we were excited to go. So upon arrival the restaurant was nice and clean. We sat down and ordered two apps, salad, and a main course. What we thought we order wasnt really what they brought. For example first, we order the Jumbo Chicken Wings. They were not Jumbo Chicken Wings. They were small undercooked wings that that didnt live up to their description. Second, duck confit quesadillas. They were okay and only when you added the cranberry chutney. Nothing to rant about. The salad was roasted beet salad and if you like roasted beets you most likely love how sweet they are when roasted just right. Unfortunately, It was bland and not seasoned well. The main course came out. It was the chicken and biscuits. That was okay. I would describe it as an inferior deconstructed chicken pot pie. Through out this experience the service was unsatisfactory. The waitress was too busy and there were many staff members, but no one helping each other out ie. keeping up with drinks and delivering food promptly. Finally, unsatisfying meal plus overpriced food (2 apps, one salad, one dinner, one glass of wine) equals $70 (tip not included). Overall I do not think I would recommend The Whip Bar & Grill seeing as I will not return myself.

My girlfriend and I came into the whip after 11am in hopes of a nice lunch. The brunch menu did not entice us and when asked for drinks was judged from asking for a breakfast stout. My girlfriend ordered a salad in which the waiter had to talk to the chief if they could make it. When given the ok I proceeded to order the soup of the day where the waiter again looked at me in judgment, when he is the one to suggest and tell me what the soup of the day was. After our orders the waiter came back in less then a minute and asked if we would like to order off the lunch menu. We did so with my girlfriend still getting the same salad and myself getting a soup and half sandwich, again judgement from the waiter. The soup was awful and had inedible stems and bones in it, which it was a Italian wedding soup. The beer was the only good item I ate and the service continued to judge myself andy girlfriend until we left.

Very disappointing experience here last Saturday night. The server was nice but forgot to bring us bread and butter (not a huge deal but when we saw everyone else eating theirs we wondered why we didnt get any). When listing off the specials she forgot to mention the lobster special, which we only heard about after hearing her offer it to other people after we had ordered. Our calamari was way over cooked, like chewing rubber bands. My fillet was perfectly cooked but my mashed potatoes were cold. And my girlfriends Mussels Marinara tasted like the sauce came out of a can. Very unimpressed with the Whip. WAY overpriced for what you get. I spent $75 for 2 people for a dinner I could of cooked much better in my own kitchen. I will never give them my business again.

Have eaten here in the past. Has always been excellent. Very disappointed this time. Waitress was very lax. Did not come back for refills etc. Rib eye was very greasy and fatty. My friend had a Ruben and was disappointed as well. Our salads were very good. Was very disappointed in the atmosphere as well . There was a party of 5 on the other side of the room. They were very loud and using very foul language. So loud that my friend and I could not carry on a conversation. Very disappointed that the management did not address this issue. Very sad. This was a first choice for me when I come to Stowe. Will reconsider.

The food here is very overrated. Mash potatoes were cold and clearly from lunch and warmed up. They say garlic mash but lacked any real seasoning and for some reason had carrot shavings on them to make it look more appealing?!? Lamb was inconsistently cooked as if they were cooked at different times. Some were medium (as ordered) some were medium rare and one was well done. Not sure where these cooks got their training but when I go to a restaurant it should be food that is better than what I can cook at home. This was mediocre at best and I am being generous. Very disappointed.
