I cant comment on the food... terrible customer service prevented me from even trying it. I made a reservation for two on Jan 14, 2017 for 7:45pm. I arrived on time. I was greeted by nobody, because there was no receptionist to be seen. After standing in the waiting area for 5 minutes of being ignored by all the staff walking by me, I approached a waitress and told here I was here for my reservation, which was 5 minutes ago. She said "Ok well get you seated soon" and basically brushed me off. No "sorry for the wait" or anything like that. I waited by the door for another 10 minutes, then another waitress walked over to that area (there were about 3 other parties waiting there also), and she yells out "Ok, who got here first?" Thats a terrible seating system to rely on (hire a dang receptionist!!). Some people spoke up, and she started walking them to a table. As she walked past me, I told here "I had a reservation for 15 minutes ago." She then responds, in a rude, annoyed, and condescending voice "Yeah, were super busy and well get you seated soon." Again no apology, just rudeness, this time with a healthy dose of condescension. Heres the kicker: THE RESTAURANT WAS NOT VERY BUSY. Half the tables were open! That was the last straw. We left and went to Simply Sushi (which was great). Im never rude to restaurant staff, and I expect the same in return. This was a reminder to me of the power of customer service and what NOT to do. If you condescend to me, then Ill politely leave and never come back. And Ill leave a bad (and honest) review online.

So its ten till 11:00 on a Friday night. You want sushi. Where do you go? My answer USED to be Ahhh Sushi. But tonight, we walked in and they told us to try back tomorrow. Disappointing since we stood and waited to be seated for five minutes. I digress. So we get on google and say, "ok, Google. What sushi restaurant is open right now?" Google only named one place. "Same Sushi". (Its not pronounced "same"). Our eyes widened. So we said "navigate to it!" And off we go! Same sushi is about six blocks away and OPEN TILL 1:AM ON FRIDAY! Keep in mind that this is Pride Weekend. There are people everywhere. But Same Sushi is almost missable, tucked in next to the entrance of the Homewood Suites Hotel and there is no crowd to speak of. They also have patio seating. It turns out that this super classy little sushi place that is open past 11:PM also has amazing prices on excellent sushi!! I didnt find a single roll over $9 and these were the prices printed in the menu! Not the "half off between ten and eleven" prices. I know, cheap sushi can be scary. But this sushi was amazing! Each roll was about 9 inches long! Talking to our adorable server, we discover that she is the co-owner. The chef behind the counter is her husband and partner. Such a classy place! Im a little torn about writing this review. On the one hand they deserve all five stars. But on the other hand, I dont want to inadvertently create the crowd that results in my having to wait outside the restaurant for a table either. Yes. Its this good.

Dangerous workers. Dont eat here if you want to get attacked by the sushi chef...I was causally waiting for my friend to go to the bathroom and standing next to the there kareoke audio board. To pass time i was admiring and observing it and touched the side of the board frame where the model number is, then i stood up and the short red jogging suit sushi chef ran over and aggressively grabbed my arm and shoved me..i then proceeded to grab his hands off me and tell him never ever touch me like that again and to use your words if you need something than to resort to aggressive physical behavior cuz i have ears and can communicate! Due to his heavy accent i didnt know what he said and the staff and manager stood there doing nothing ...as he walked away the waitress that was serving us kindly came up and apologized for his behavior. The next day i emailed the store and got no apology for the situation. Im sad to say they lost a customer and i lost a sushi place to eat late at night.. being born in utah and knowing pretty much everyone in small lake city, when others always ask me where to it great asian food and sushi . I will be sure to make it known with all my social and social media power! to all where to never eat

I have really mixed feelings. We showed up an hour before closing on a Wednesday. They had just finished with a large party but otherwise it was not busy. It took a few minutes before the hostess acknowledged us. She seated us and then we waited probably about 15+ minutes before anyone came to talk to us at all. Not even any waters. The server didnt ask us what we wanted to drink, I had to ask for waters, and we ordered. It then took until about 10pm (their closing time) for us to get our rolls. We ordered six rolls total for four people. We didnt have food until an hour after we showed up. The food was good, and the server apologized for the wait but didnt explain why anything was taking so long and didnt do anything to make the situation any better. Honestly the sushi was really good and a good price, but it took an appalling amount of time considering it wasnt busy. Not sure if they were understaffed or what but I expected the service to be better.

I drove into downtown to get sushi on a Saturday night (1-7-17) and walked in the doors at 10:45. The entire staff was sitting at the bar chatting and didnt acknowledge us until they were done with their conversation. After that one of the staff members yelled from across the restaurant that they had "closed a little bit early tonight" and told us to leave. They decided to close the store 45 minutes early and declined us, leaving us no place to get sushi that night because we wasted our time driving to downtown for a terrible staff experience. My 3 friends and I will never be attending Same Sushi again.

What a disappointment. I stayed at the Homewood Suites next door and I, along with 5 of my co-workers opted to just run next door for dinner due to adverse weather. While the restaurant atmosphere was nice, the service and food was awful. Several of the items we ordered were not delivered. Those that were served were bland or overcooked. I asked for a Kirin beer and theyd been out for a week.. What Japanese restaurant doesnt have Kirin. Although very convenient if youre staying at the Homewood I recommend passing it by and finding somewhere else to eat.

Excellent service in an easy to find location! We thought we were gambling because Same Sushi opened recently (not much history in the Yelp, Urbanspoon and Google reviews)--but all reviews raved about the quality and service. Ive never seen great sushi priced this low--a real bargain! Even the salad was phenomenal! The decor and atmosphere also cant be beat--date night for us, but also flexible and spacious enough for a gathering with friends and business associates! My soon-to-be wife is already begging to visit SLC again just to dine here.
