There are restaurants out there that I dont like. But then there is Milagros which I loathe. I really wanted it to be good. I live a few blocks away and by all indications this will be an incredible restaurant. Atmosphere is great. The menu is unique and diverse. But unfortunately that is where my compliments end. The prices are overpriced (even if I assume that the food was delicious, which it isnt, it would still be overpriced for what you get). To sum up the food basically think of Food that looks Mexican and looks delicious but lacks any flavor profile other than sweet. Everything is drenched in sugar and honey. But even then the flavors are just simply sweet, and have no depth. Even the salsa for your chips and salsa is sweet. Its the weirdest thing. My favorite food in life is a chili rejeno. Ive eaten them everywhere, and when they started advertising "the best chili rejeno in the world" I was definitely interested. Unfortunately one bite of my food and I realized the mistakes I made spending $20 on this thing. I muscled up the strength to try another bite and convince myself it was at least "ok" but I couldnt do it. I sent the food back and explained my complaints and the waiter said it was a common complaint and seemed fairly used to sending food back. They made me a quesadilla instead. Once again disgusting. Something as simple as tortilla and cheese and they found a way to make it gross. They put peppers on it that had been soaked in sugar water or honey. The cheese had no flavor. I dont even know if they used salted butter on the tortilla to grill it, it tasted like sugar soaked cardboard. All in all I was pretty upset with my experience. I dont mind paying good money for good food. But this food was horrible. I felt like I should send the restaurant to collections when I was done to try to get my money back. Anyway save yourself the trouble. This place makes the Taco Bell thats across the street look like 5 star food. Heck, its been years since Ive been brave enough to step into a taco time which is also next door but If forced to go to Milagros again, I might just muster up the Courage to break my record at taco time and try it again before I try Milagros.

Unique Mexican Food! We just discovered Milagros the other day, and we were really impressed. Its a great little Mexican restaurant. First off, I was impressed with the decor as soon a we walked in. Its really unique, and fun. Not your typical dark Mexican restaurant with traditional decor. The place opened with high ceilings, windows and light. The place also had a South West feel, with a bit of vintage flare. One thing that was interesting was the sink in the lobby. I thought it was odd at first, but then liked the idea. I usually visit the restroom when I go into a restaurant, just to wash my hands. Thats a great little service. The atmosphere was really fun, and they had the a talented kid, singing and playing the guitar. He was amazing. The service was also very good, Our waitress attended to our every need, and was very friendly. My only complaint was that our food was a little slow coming, but the place was busy, so I understand. Thats the only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars. As for the food, it was fantastic. Honestly, it was the best Mexican food I have had since we have been in Utah. My Chimi Changa was excellent, loaded with the flavor. The meat had a unique sweet taste. The lime rice was also really good, and the vegetables were fantastic. I cant really describe it, but this place was quite unique. A mix between Mexican, South West, with more of a high class touch. There is a place in Arizona that it kind of reminds me of, but I cant remember that name of it. But it is very good! My wife had the chicken Mango salad, and said it was fantastic also. Overall, this is a great reasteruant. I dont usually write reviews, but I thought I would give this place a shout out. Its kind of in an obscure location in North West Orem, so I thought it deserved a mention, and that they could use some good word of mouth advertising. If you are looking for a good Mexican. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely go back.

I am surprised to see all the positive reviews on here. First, I think it is strange that the first item you see is a sink with a sign that says "Wash Hands." Hopefully that means they are clean there. They have an open style kitchen, however, they are lacking the vents to remove the smoke from the kitchen. Because of this, it was very smoky in the dining area. Decoration is mainly live plants, all of which were dusty by our table. Onto our dining experience now. Let me first say our server was great. He welcomed us nicely and asked if we had questions. Brought our water and chips/salsa out promptly. There are 2 salsa choices. The first is a green sauce which is overly sweet. The second is a red sauce that is lacking in any flavor. The consistency of their salsa is strange. When it was first brought to our table, they have a gelled top layer, similar to that yucky school pudding. It also needs to be said that their chips taste like old cooking oil. My husband ordered Shrimp Tacos with black beans and their spicy rice. The shrimp tacos did indicate that they were cooked in a honey sauce, but it was unexpected that the entire plate would be swimming in it. The sauce soaks through the tortillas (making them soggy) and again way to sweet. The rice is NOT spicy. It is typical spanish rice. My daughter ordered a childs beef taco with rice. Our server recommended that she get their sweet rice because the spicy rice would be too hot for her. She liked the meat from her taco, the taco shell was soggy, and her rice was gross. I ordered a Chicken Taco Salad (lunch special). After my first bite, my appetite was gone. It tasted like fish. I dont know where that could come from, unless they have some cross contamination in their kitchen. We obviously will not be back. If you love Mexican food, like we do, I would recommend that you go to a restaurant you know you like.

Mexican restaurants in Utah county are a JOKE! Los Hermanos is dog food, I still dont know how in the heck theyre still in business. Along with every other joint out there that is either soaked in grease, covered by 5lbs of cheese,(Mi Ranchito) a complete hole in the wall, or a Bajio, Cafa Rio, or a Coasta Vida. Whos sick of eating at Cafe Rio?? I AM!! Its good food, but I get tired of being rushed through a line, yelled at in broken english, and then fork out an extra $2 bucks for guac to sit in a loud glorified cafeteria ... call me crazy. I have been waiting for somewhere I can take my wife, sit down, and enjoy GOOD chips and salsa, with a damn burrito with actual meat, and not chopped up horse lips. Can you tell Im passionate about Mexican food? :) Enter Milagros, which I had high hopes, but was skeptical. They had a few kinks to work out with service, but now that they have been open for a couple months, its pretty dialed in. However, its the food. Thats why Im a fan. And if you dont think their food is good...Stop by there anytime around lunch or dinner, its packed. Why? Because its the best tasting food. Environment and ambiance comes in second, but when I can actually taste pork, beef, and chicken thats been marinated, and tastes awesome, thats where Im going.
