The worst! I have eaten Chinese food all over the country and this was the worst. The Walnut shrimp was like eating corn syrup with a dab of Mayo! My husbands food was horrible, pan fried noodles with a sauce that tasted like saltwater thickened with cornstarch, and the flower soup was white, hardly anything in it, tasted like cornstarch and salt too!....the egg rolls were dry as was the fried shrimp, both tasted like something I would buy from the grocery store! Fried rice tasted like it was a leftover! Try to get a cold beer....my husband was served one at room temperature, he asked for a cold glass...never came. The snippy little waitress acted like she was doing us a favor...she reminded me of the soup Nazi! NEVER will they see our big family there again! If you really want wonderful Asian food go to the Dragon on 39th and 13th. Best ever! How anyone could like the Asian Star is beyond me!

I have been here several times in the last year and always have been served promptly with good food, good potion sizes too, and fare prices. Last nights visit was no different however parking can be difficult and they dont handle crowds well. We were told the wait was 1/2 hour but the sushi bar was in sight and only 1 out 8 chairs was occupied. When asking if we could sit at the bar we were spoken to tactlessly and told that we would have to wait for a server to come and seat us. During our meal we could count 7 empty tables that no one sat at during the duration of our visit. On the way out I opened the door into a women waiting in the foyer to stay a bit warm... not really a smart place to stand on her part but there is no light and she could barley be seen and on a crowded night I would imagine this is a frequent problem. I would recommend this restaurant, but with some hesitation.

My wife and I came here after a long time... after reading the description of the food we order what we thought is good and they served us totally different things that did not matched the description. I didnt care and started eating mine but my wife had allergy to some of the nuts in the food. When she mentioned the food is not what she ordered the waiter said "make sure you order correctly!" We were like what? How can we order correctly next time when the description says chicken the food comes with broccoli, it mentions no nuts and the food comes with nuts. We will never go back there. And it is a shame because the restaurant has a nice ambiance and view. If anyone knows of a good Chinese restaurant in SLC, please let me know. So far I like Sampon on 7 E, but it doesnt totally do it for me.

3 of us ordered pan fried noodles with brown sauce, nothing complicated. We got pan fried noodles with white sauce. We told the waitress that it was wrong. She brought up a bowl of brown sauce. We told her that was not acceptable, we wanted the order to be corrected. So she brings up a big plate of pan fried noodles with chicken and beef (we all ordered shrimp) that the 3 of us can share (instead of the dinners). We ask for the manager, another waitress asks us if he can help. We tell her the problem. While we are talking to her, manager comes to our table. Instead of manager listening to our issue, he asks the waitress the issue, then walks away. The 2nd waitress apologized one time. It isnt overly busy. We wont be back.

When you come here, if you dont order the lettuce wraps, you may as well have not come here. Same thing goes for the Walnut Shrimp. These are the two things that hooked me on the Asian Star. I have been coming here since they were located north of the old Cottonwood Mall. Then at the Snowbird Canyon Racket Club. And now this, the current location. The actual building is extremely well done. If there is no parking, do not despair!! Overflow parking is located at the Episcopalian Church a few hundred feet down the road. The staff is exceptionally friendly. The owner is always there to greet you with a smile and a warm hello.

The waitress didnt ask us if we wanted drinks. They just brought out water and walked away. A different person came back and said two words to us to take our order, and then we didnt see anyone until the food arrived. Neither of the rolls we ordered were right (and tasted horrible) but since no one showed up again except to give us the check we didnt have a chance to tell them. When she came to give us the check she just grabbed the card off the table threw some fortune cookies down and walked away without a word. After hearing so many good things about this restaurant we were very disappointed. Wont be going back.

Went in for a work party. The servers were especially grumpy and rude, asked only one person at my table what they wanted to drink ignoring the other 3 sitting at the table. Not to mention the food was cold and there was a hair in the food. My Co worker had left her phone at the restaurant when she had called to get it back, they informed her that they couldnt find it. She later found it on the counter of the bathroom, where the manager assured her that they checked. I had high expectations for this place as all the girls were going on and on about how good the food was.

We have been here probably more than 5 times and have the same issues every time. The sesame chicken is great! The Vegas roll always gets to our table cold as if it was sitting up there for 10 minutes without someone bringing it to us. The service is the worst part. We ordered a Saki and 4 people came over to look at my ID when I was over 21 and stood there for 5 minutes yelling Chinese at each other talking about my ID, like they couldnt figure out how old I was. And your water glass is completely empty before it gets filled. Food is alright, service sucks.

Asian Star used to be amazing. Now the food is awful and the service is worse. The Broccoli Chicken was slimy. The Beef with Green Beans was ok. Nothing that said it was spicy was more than mildly hot. The sushi smelled like old fish and was falling apart. And the manager told us he wasnt able to let us have any additional lettuce (we had 2 people with us who wanted to substitute lettuce for the white rice) because it cost at least .50 cents a leaf. He told us this cost was because it takes special skill to cut iceberg lettuce. We wont be back.

BE CAREFUL THEY WRITE THEIR OWN REVIEWS TO MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK BETTER Having a reservation does nothing for you and the food was cold, ill presented and overpriced. There were many tables available and we got shoved into the back corner with all the heavy foot traffic from the waiters who do not speak English. However the ones that did speak English seemed very put out that I wanted a new plate of food since mine was cold. If you are an out of towner I do not recommend this place. I will not be returning.
