My husband and I used to frequent this establishment but keep having less than desirable experiences. We will not be returning. For the purpose of this review, Ive only been to the location in the Forum (Selma/Live Oak). The food is actually pretty good but keep in mind their hottest wings will burn your mouth. The server never mentioned this so we found out the hard way. When my husband received his hot wings, they were too hot to consume. We told our server we would like to order another set of not so hot wings...we even said wed pay for them. The server took the wings back to the kitchen. They came out within 5 minutes and were on the same plate (we had ranch on the side so we know they used the same plate). Apparently the lazy cook rinsed the wings and re-sauced them; he then put them back on the same plate. We did speak to the manager and he took them off our bill but he never did apologize. The other food items weve had are pretty good. The service has also gone down hill. The pregnant manager is rude as is some of the wait staff. No personalities at all! I asked the prego manager when her baby was due, she was semi-polite to my face but....I overheard her talk to the wait staff about how rude it was that I asked when her baby was due. She stated that for all I know, shes not pregnant. The girl wasnt overweight, just had a baby bump. The last and final trip I heard an older couple ask her when she was due and she was super polite to them. I hope this place closes down...there are too many choices out there to accept sub-par service. Plus the women arent the greatest looking. I think we will start going to The Tilted Kilt....its a much better experience!

OK, I had given a stunning review before, but yesterday my wife and I went for our favorites! I had been bragging about the Nachos at this Pub! They were good original Nachos! I loved them! My wife is on Weight Watchers and always ordered the French Dip Sandwich! Yesterday we were told BOTH these items were no longer offered??? As we were already there I ordered the Fish and Chips! They were not crisp and guess what, they no longer the Cold Slaw with the plate! We will not be back! Bad Choices by Management! Previous Post:I am glad that this restaurant does not allow Handguns! Just because you have a carry permit in ,"Texas", does not make you a responsible citizen! Especially if you walk into a Bar with a Gun!! Went there today and hand St. Pattys Day lunch! Outstanding! They could use a few more Wait Staff but all in all, Outstanding. The Ambiance, the food, the Beer, all superb. Got the Draught Sampler and the English Beer, second from the top of the menu. Was the best i have ever had! Fish and Chips, Awesome! Wife had Corned Beef and Cabbage, Awesome! I dont know why the place wasnt full, but I bet it wasnt because of the no hand gun rule! I know this is Texas, the land of the Blithering Idiot Rednecks, nut I was brought up, No Guns in Bars! Its common sense in other States!

My wife and I enjoyed Lion & Rose for a long time but the location in Selma has gone downhill. Weve had several bad experiences with service from one member of the wait staff. We tried to overlook it thinking it would improve but it did not so weve stopped going there. Another issue has to do with the restaurant itself. For some reason they started having some rude idiot come in with a trivia contest. He walks around with a microphone, speaking loud and rude. The service issues have to do with bringing items at the wrong time or bringing the wrong items then putting the blame on the customer. On one occasion we went for dinner and ordered salads with our entrees. We waited and waited then noticed people that came in after us were already eating their salads. Eventually our food showed up WITH salads. Another time we went there for lunch and ordered Fish and Chips assuming wed get the lunch portion. She brought us the full-size entree and we were shocked. Fish and Chips are shown on the menu twice so she should have confirmed what we wanted. Our lunch was almost $40! We gave up and will not being going back.

Service was good as always. My issue is that the the new owners have changed some of the menu items that I enjoyed in the past. I will be back around St. Patties day to have the corned beef and cabbage. .. if that has changed, I will not be returning to this once great establishment. Well , as I said, was going to return on St. Patties day . The "Hostess " told us we had to wait for a table outside and it would be about 15 minutes. Ok, no problem. Fifteen minutes pass and she tells us it would be another 30 minutes. So needless to say, I ordered food to go at the bar. Which will be the only way I will enjoy the food from there anymore. Btw, the Hostess sat 2 tables outside to people that werent there before us. Now this place has attitude as well and not the place I enjoyed before. Anyway, if anyone knows a place serves this same style of food. Save yourselves and bunch of grief and steer clear of this establishment. Unless of course, you enjoy punishment.

Went to the restaurant for the first time today and order the Tour of Britain with a substitution of the mushrooms for the beans. The fish was awesome! I was thinking that I wasnt going to like it because I need crunch but this fish had crunch with a nice size white flaky fish. The homemade substitute for tartar sauce was spot on. The mushrooms were nice and the banger was ok. Ive got half Louisiana blood so compared to a creole sausage it stood no chance. The shepherd pie was a no-go. Despite being made of everything I like to eat, it was bland and really had no taste. I will definitely be back for the fish and chips and to try a dessert. The staff was very nice (thanks Carra for being so nice to a newbee!) and the atmosphere of the pub was nice. The only thing I was point out about the pub is that if youre not a size 12 and below - dont sit in a booth! I thought about moving after I wedged myself in one but I was to lazy to move.

Still great service but the menu options have changed. Fish and chips are still consistent but instead of the traditional style English "chips," they are serving American style fries. There is an option for "crisps" but I assume these are thin sliced fired potato slices - not English chips. The American style fries are certainly good, but just "not the same" as they used to offer and was one of their selling points. One of the reasons we decide to go here was our recollection of their English chips. Never fear however, as the Fish and Chips entree still comes with the traditional remoulade the Lion & Rose is famous for. They have added a mint pea puree on the side. I tried it but wasnt a fan. Maybe you are, but just be aware there have been many menu changes over the last couple of years. Different I know, and maybe you will enjoy it, I just wanted to make you aware.
