Well Miss Baker, I find it funny, to say the least, how your memory seems a tad fuzzy about the ACTUAL events that occurred last week during your evening at the Whale. Perhaps the amount of alcohol you had to drink has corrupted your memory. As a patron and witness of these very events that evening, allow me to retort: 1st. You were there MUCH longer than "about 30 seconds" as you stated. I could hear your group, and particularly you, at the front right of the bar for quite some time before you and your cadre left that table an approached the bar. Upon your approach to the bar, the female bartender "suggested" that certain members of your group have a glass of water because as any responsible bartender will tell you, over serving any patron can end up costing them their license, and will result in a severe fine. After suggesting you and your friends "have a water and then a beer" you verbally took offense to it. As the bartender walked away, you chose to say, and I quote, "that f***ing b***h has it in for me" and may I add it was hardly a statement you made under your breath. Dont recall that? Im not surprised. Your belligerent remarks continued every time the bartender would walk back and forth up and down the bar and after a few minutes (your friends had finished their water by now) the bartender asked your friends if they would like a drink. Immediately you piped up and ordered a drink to which she replied "sweety, I asked you to drink a water first and then Id take your order". She then turned to your friends and took their drink orders. Upon returning with those drinks, you made more comments (I couldnt fully understand them as you were slurring--I was a scant 6 feet away) and THAT was the moment that she chose to tell you that she has a right to serve whomever she chooses, followed shortly after with "I also have the right to ask you to leave". This just p*ssed you off further and you launched into another loud, obnoxious round of name calling and profanity. (Kiss your mom with that mouth?) It was at that point she confronted you for a THIRD time, was yelled at by your male companion and she asked you all to please leave the bar. You "left on your own" only to the extent that you were physically able to stagger out the door. Memo to yourself- most bartenders are responsible servers and when one asks you to "have a glass of water" before your next drink, instead of acting like a spoiled, entitled brat, perhaps you should be thankful that someone is looking out for you and trying not to jeopardize their job, their establishment, and the lives of others in the community. But hey, I get it, in your eyes you have a right to get as drunk as you want. Perhaps you should go hang out at establishments that are more concerned with just slinging drinks than actually taking care of their customers.

Our group of 6 came in and the bartender was incredibly rude and condescending. She was targeting myself in particular because I was speaking loudly. She was unnecessarily telling me "sweetie I could ask you to leave". We were not being rowdy. We were not being crude. We were just talking with friends. We were only here for about 30 seconds before she continued to share her sense of authority and telling me she could ask me to leave again when I questioned why I would be asked to leave. It was unnecessary and had no reason. We left on our own because she obviously didnt want us there to begin with. Ive never in my life been asked to leave a bar or been treated this way by a bartender. It was absolutely absurd.

Intimate booth seating is nice. Kind of an ugly biergarten out back that faces the rear parking lot. Kinda feels like hanging out in your friends garage. Looks like there is a heater back there. Their bloody Mary is massive and delicious but full of all kinds of vegetables. Its like a meal in itself. They always play old music here, typical of the older party crowd, sometimes you get something good like rolling stones, dire straits, or pink Floyd but Im not really into the genre as a whole. Tends to attract an older 40+ crowd but its new braunfels and I dont think there is a bar that really caters to any other age group. I think they play sports upstairs.

Some places dont try to get to know you. At the Whale youre extended family and its a good feeling. Shilo sets the pace and keeps the drama to a minimum and the bartenders are very attentive, one and all.I hope to have this comfortable establishment always there

Our first bartender holly (i think. Tall blonde) was great then the bartenders changed to a bearded guy that passed us by 4 times and served around us. Lets say we are else were and to bad for holly as we would have stayed longer and tipped 30%.

The Bloody Mary here cant be beat. Seriously, you wont be able to ever order one again anywhere else. As in, the disappointment that you will experience is so intense that you will be physically incapable to complete the order.

Good prices. Low rating due to a bartender letting me order and pay for a top shelf vodka drink and serving well vodka - the other bartender told me they never had the vodka I was mislead about by the first. Very disappointing.

I prefer this place only because it feels like a pub. Its dark and has plenty of places to sit in privacy with a friend. If you are looking for a place to watch the World cup or UEFA, this will usually be a sure bet.

I wasnt here long, but the service was fast, the bar tender was helpful, and the other people at the bar seemed chill. If Im in town again, its very likely that I will swing by for a pint again.

Kind of a small and dumpy place but they have a really good selection of Belgian ales in bottles. Thats really the only reason why I drop in. Bartenders are friendly and service was good.

Ridicuously overpriced. I understand bar beers are a bit costlier than a your average case beer. But 3.75$ for a bottle of budlight is extremely overpriced.

Awesome little pub in the corner of one of Town Square buildings. Nice wood interior makes you feel like youre on the inside of a boat hunting whales.

Great selection of beers. They usually have my favorite brewery on tap. (Middletons) The bartenders are great and its a place locals frequent.
