Great place for Chinese food. The restaurant is very clean. 100% health report score posted right inside the door! The staff is very nice and the the guy (I am terrible with names) working the front register is completely awesome. Always has a smile on his face and good humored. Always double checks my order and makes sure I get everything. I think he works 24/7, he is there every single time I go! The food is great, hands down. The consistency, flavor, and portions are all top notch. You get a lot for what you pay. Sesame Chicken is the best I have had outside of San Francisco. Yes, the side dish rice is pretty bland, but if you are in the mood for rice, order the combination fried rice, it is great. Their egg rolls are always crunchy and fresh. All in all the best Chinese food place for the money. My other favorite Chinese place here in San Antonio is about 3 times the price and only minimally better. Try them out for lunch, you wont regret it!

What To Order: Combination Dinner. Sesame Chicken Chin San has some excellent items, one of my favorites is the sesame chicken. Ive tried a few items over my visits, some were excellent, some not that great. But I once took several combination plates back to an office, and everyone commented they should have just ordered the sesame chicken and nothing else, and it has remained my absolute favorite. Ive eaten inside Chin San, as well as placed orders to go, and the time from order to table or pickup is always surprisingly fast. Its a great place for a quick lunch if your in the area. Dinner combinations are around $8 and include fried or steamed rice, family orders $10, and lunch specials $6-7 with soup, rice, and appetizer. Portion sizes are good, and very filling. If your looking for a new Chinese place, try Chin San, its quick, cheap and they have a few amazing items.

I eat here for lunch all the time. They offer good value dishes with lots of vegetables in their stir fry dishes. Try the Chicken in Garlic Sauce, my favorite. They also offer the usual sweet and sour and sesame chicken my boys love as well as good Almond Chicken. Their lunch specials are great. We also just had them cater a Cub Scout event for 107 people. Everything was perfectly cooked - I still have no idea how they got 25 trays of food out at the same time, all piping hot, but not over done or dried out. Our guests were thrilled with the quality, taste and quantity of the food. We will use them again in the future.

We were in town for Christmas and new years vacation, and our last day we wanted to try the local Chinese eatery. After seeing several reviews of several restaurants we set our sights on this place, and boy are we glad we came. From the outside it looks lacking, and the inside might not be all glitz, and glamour, but the food and service make up for the atmosphere. The service was fast, quick, and the servers were kind, and pleasant. Would recommend this place, just dont expect five star dining, but do expect exceptional food, and service.

My new local Chinese Food Restaurant for the win. They have a solid egg drop soup and sesame chicken. The portions are really large (especially to-go orders) and the customer service has always been good. Meals come with an egg roll and two wontons. Seems like a nice local operation and Im happy to support a local business. The girlfriend likes their lemon chicken as well, so I think they are good all around. It isnt a high class restaurant, but its the best Ive found for a small local restaurant.

A MUST, TO EAT HERE! Food is & was outstanding, hot, fresh & great flavor. Very nice staff and hospitality is 2nd to none. Every other non chain Chinese Food restaurant tastes the same, same ingredients, same flavor. This place is different. I dont know what they do add or what they dont add but I do know that I have not had 1 bad experience out of maybe 10 visits in regards to the food or staff. A true gem when it comes to Chinese Food restaurants in San Antonio.

Update on review * I had previously given them 3 stars because the food was decent however after a couple of recent orders I am giving them 1 star. Not only has the food gotten worse, the staff has become very rude. When trying to order I was told to hurry up because they were very busy but then it took 5 minutes for me to repeat the order to him because he had written it down incorrectly.

We ordered for pickup the other night and I loved the food! The lo mein, egg rolls, shrimp with lobster sauce were all delicious. The beef broccoli was different than what I was used to but it wasnt bad, meat was still tender and the broccoli cooked to perfection. The people were incredibly nice according to my mother who went to pick up the food. We will definitely order again!

Really good food and excellent service. I was truly surprised because this establishment was located in a non-descript strip mall. The food was better than some high end resturants here in San Antonio and the prices were great for the quality. The menu was amazing and I was able to try some Chinese food that I had never tried before.

Ive been coming here since I was in highschool & I havent been disappointed. I do miss that they use to give you a side of sweet & sour pork with your dinner (now its cheese rangoon), but thats only a minor complaint. The foods great, portions are big, & the price isnt bad either. Won ton soup is one of the best Ive had.

I have been coming to Chin San for many years. Their fried rice isnt very good but they have great variety and you can pretty much get anything you want. Hot teas, fried and steamed dumplings etc. They have great staff who are pleasant and good at their jobs. Pick up is easy and Ive never had a wrong order.
