For starters, the food was decent. I do enjoy it because I can assemble my own salad as desired. I also enjoy their baked potatoes and breadsticks. There is one lady there in particular (I feel awful I did not get her name) that never stopped moving in the restaurant. She kept getting refills and cleaning and making it look the best that she could. The negatives comes from the gnats, the freshness, and the overall appearance of the restaurant. I understand gnats happen but it should be controlled. The door being slightly opened does not allow for things to stay out or for them to be controlled. The seats in the booths are duct taped to keep them together. The design has not changed any in years and the place can definitely do with a make over. The breadsticks were cold. Wasting food is bad but there should be a limit on how long something can sit out before they switch it out. Ive read other reviews discussing the lack of eggs and the lack of pizza. Both were available when I went. And in times when they have not been available in the past they have been made available by simply requesting them. It is sad to see a good place go down hill but their service seems to have declined. If they arent willing to give the place a makeover and do something to try get back on top and stay there, they should hang up their hat and get out before it totally sinks. I like the place, but I think it has to do more with loyal patronage rather than quality.

Beyond dissatisfied!!! While dinning we watched as a young girl, there with her family, started choking and coughing. Her parents handled the situation wonderfully and calmly beat on her back to clear her airway. Then gave her small sips of her drink once her airway was cleared to help calm her irritated throat and stop her cough... What I am dissatisfied with is the way a fellow patron felt it was her place to approach the family and very loudly and rudely tell the family that she does not want to get sick and that they shouldnt bring a sick child out in public.... And then when the family left she proceeded to speak very loudly with several of the staff members including the manager as well as other patrons. Regarding how horrible it was that they had the "sick" child in public. The staff encouraged this woman in her ugly commentary and snide remarks. Never once asking her to please tone it down out of respect for the other patrons. Instead I had my appetite ruined and was unable to finish my dinner. If you go to this location, good luck. And heaven forbid anyone in your group chokes... As we heard this woman is a regular and she might think your "sick"

Although hesitant to go to a hotel restaurant, especially not staying at the hotel, I am so very thankful I did. This is the very best dining experience I have had in quite some time, irregardless of location. Both service and food were above typical quality standards. For example, I even questioned whether the yolk served with the steak tartare appetizer was raw or just slightly cooked due to the creaminess of the consistency. It was procured from a a local cage free chicken ranch that provided these quality eggs. The beef quality was extraordinary. I did send the wild salmon back because it had not been prepared medium rare as requested however the next piece was prepared perfectly. Of note was the exceptional service of Kristen who took special attention to my dietary needs and made substitutions throughout the meal as appropriate. Additionally, the restaurant showed exceptional customer service with regards to the error in having my salmon overcooked initially and comped dessert. Good business! If you appreciate fine dining, do not miss Belvedere! I will be back the next time I return to Bakersfield.

I went into the Souper Salad on 8/14/2015 at about 8:30 pm I ask about the sign at the register that said 10% for seniors he stated they dont offer that. I asked why is it posted if you dont honor it. He became angry and rudely told me talk to the owner. He gave me my plate for my take out order and as I was getting my order he continued to walk around and watch me as if I was going to take food that I should not take, he made me feel very uncomfortable. When he had to go back back to the register he had a female employee come out and stand where I was preparing my plate and watch me. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and no one should be treated in that manner. I am an Afro American female and I am hoping that was not the reason for his rude behavior. I dont have any reason to to steal any food I have plenty of food at home. He really could also use some customer service skills I ask to speak with a manager but he told me he was the manager so I just left.

This place has the rudest manager ever. I went in to eat lunch with my boyfriend only 4 days after getting my wisdom teeth out. I proceeded to say to the "manager" that i was only wanting soup and before i could even finish he interrupted me and said its all same price. I said excuse me i spoke to the girl.... he interrupted again... " who? Who did you talk to?" I said i do not know but i called last night before we were going to come and asked if i needed to pay for to go soup or i could take off the buffett. I dont know what kind of customer service souper salad trains there employees to have but i can assure you that you wont find that at this location. I will never step foot in that place again. I am also a restaurant manager and would never treat someone like that. So instead of offering me another option he chose to be extremely rude and loose 20$ plus alot more for the times we would have gone back in the future.

If its 8:30pm dont even bother stopping in unless you chew fast and can eat your entrée, meal and desert in thirty minutes. Also dont expect good service. They are more worried about cleaning up than servicing your needs. I wouldnt of said anything but we paid full price for a third of service and food. We only got to eat our salad but no bread since looks like they stop cooking and serving it half hour early. Expect to serve yourself with items out of there slots and surrounded by all crumbs and towles they wipe down with. Serve your plate while utensils are still available to. Oh and no ice cream or desert since gets cleaned up and put away. I truly doubt we will ever be back. Tho I will admit First time I went I enjoyed it and service by a young man was great. Ignoring the host at front of course Im sure she hates her job. But there where truly more bad actions than good.

The salad bar was the best thing about this place. Signs on windows said loaded baked potatoes, ice cream fresh baked breads and hokmemade soup. The potatoes looked like they had been sitting there. There were 4 soups to pick from. I picked the lemon chicken to share with my baby and it was aweful and did not taste homemade. The soft serve ice cream machine looks like it has been broken for a while. I didnt see any fresh baked bread. I saw little muffins. I wont come to this location ever again. I think I will just stick with Sweet Tomatoes! Just as soon as I left and got to my car my stomach started to cramp. Finally made it to the bathroom. I now have diarrhea.
