I ate here not too long ago, and the food was amazing! The staff were very efficient and extremely polite --consistently refilling water and ensuring everything is OK. I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi and something similar to an onion bhajji. I also ordered their garlic naan bread. The Jalfrezi was outstanding. It was extremely flavorful and the chicken used was white meat and not the greasy dark you sometimes find. I asked for the Jalfrezi to be spicy, and it ended up being relatively mild, so if you like spicy, make sure you ask for extra hot --either that or they thought I was a wuss :) The restaurant itself was located in a strip-mall and had a bit of a grimy feel to it --though Ive only been in a couple of Indian restaurants that didnt feel grimey. The tables/seating wasnt exactly 5 star material, well, not even 2 star for that matter, and the Indian decor was pretty tacky. However, you can put all that aside as the food itself was extremely worth the visit --just pretend they dont have a kitchen in the back and youll be alright... The next time I want Indian food and Im around this area, Ill certainly be stopping here.

Went to Dhakshin on 12/23 @ 7pm or so, my wife is pregnant and was craving Indian food. I have a close friend who is from India and she wanted me to drive the hour plus drive to Sugarland to his house and eat with his family unannounced; so this was the closest alternative! It was very busy, and I thank God that it was after reading the reviews. We went for Biryani, and it was fresh! Surprising after reading the reviews after we left. The wait was long; it was to go and everyone had to wait... everyone LOL. Many customers were upset and impatient and very demanding, I guess they are not used to waiting for what they have asked for! Overall, first time experience was enjoyable, cool staff! Shared some laughs with the main host who took our order. The food tasted nice and we did not get sick after eating it. It was not top notch compared to the home cooked authentic Indian food of my friend, but a good median! Gonna visit the local Indian grocer an make the next dish myself, not brave enough to risk going back after a buffet day LOL! But if my wife has another craving, I am sure I will be back.

I went there with my wife for Lunch Buffet. The menu was full of sounth indian breakfast dishes including Medu Vada, Idali, Sambar, Dosa, Rassam, Upma. Idli was smelling badly, Rassam and Sambar were having lots of oil floating on them and taste was bad. We tried veg options only but nothing was good. Curries Veg moglai and Palak Paneer were having bad taste. Veg rice was having some sort of bad smell. Naan were horrible, they were so thick and tasteless, that we could hardly eat that. We ordered 1 coke for the drink and that was charged separately. The price of the Buffet is very high on weekend, it is $13 + Taxes = $15. It charges $32 for 2 of us including 1 coke, but the food was not at all worth of it. Ill never recommend this for Lunch buffet especially on weekend. We have previously had dinner there and that was much better than the Lunch buffet on weekend.

Ive eaten at the finest Indian restaurants in Houston and this has won my heart. We started with the vegetable pakoras. I have never been served a heaping, piping hot platter like this before. And at $5.99 you cant pass it up. Next we had the most unusual and marvelous Indian dish Ive ever been served, Chicken 65 Masala. This is an exotic and spicy dish, a must have if you love fiery foods. Poking through the thick, rich sauce are exotic fresh herbs leaves. Just beyond exquisite. The Chicken Mughlai hit the spot as a classic Indian curry. Make sure to get garlic Naan to scoop up all the flavors. The staff are very friendly and the food is authentic as noted by the clientele. This is my new favorite place to eat.

I visited this restaurant on a Friday evening in Octorber 2016. I suspected as soon as I enter the restaurant as it was almost empty on a Friday evening prime time. We ordered Veg. and Non Veg Thalis. They served some papad to start with, while they getting our food ready. Papads were very cold. Food served a while later. All items on food was very cold and did not feel fresh at all. I asked the manager why the food is cold, he said they got late to bring my food table while they are getting others food ready..Seriously!!! there were hardly 4 tables other than our table. Bread served was very chewey, and I suspect thats leftover from lunch buffet!..Overall its a bad experience. I am not going again.

This place is a hidden gem! We found it by accident yesterday, and had a wonderful experience there. We tried several different dishes of curry, including the goat curry. The goat curry was so good, it had the right amount of spice and the meat was so tender it just dissolves in your mouth. We also tried an Indian beer called King Fisher, which is kind of similar to Shiner Bock, it was really good! We had the chicken curry and For dessert we had the Mango Kesari. Our wait staff was very attentive, they checked on us every few minutes, had lots of food suggestions. You wont regret eating here! We will be back as regulars!

Went there around 7:30 pm ... It was only me there. Should have left or read the reviews, but NO It was my destiny to experience BAD food. My chicken appetizer was nothing but salt balls, the biryani I got was stale and could use it to drug someone. I repent not reading the reviews below. Please save your money and avoid this place. Luckily I have a dog who had a good dinner, I would have punched me on the face if I has to trash it. If you are still there you better have a pet. Advice to management - please close down and open a gas station instead.

I cant believe how people think the food is good. It is like they attempt to make indian food with non-indian recipe and unrelated spices. The chef has no fundamental idea about what it takes to make Indian food (in fact I can cook better food than this). Briyani was a joke, they call it chettinad briyani. Manchurian was a criminal waste of money. The restaurant is at a prime location with too few people eating I should have known better. The waiter is a very friendly guy other than that this place is good for nothing.

Came to Houston on business trip. It was dinner time so I happened to see Dhakshin. What a treat: chicken tikka masala, Chana masala , saag paneer and and some butter and garlic naan. All were seasoned with flavorful seasoning and not to spicy. The service was very friendly and attentive. I found out that this is under new management and ownership. Dont know how it was before this but the new owners care about their restaurant. When Im back in Houston Ill be back here. Then Ill try the goat and Biryani

This was my 2nd time eating Indian food. Was a wonderful and peaceful atmosphere and the food was good. The Biryani was worth the wait and all the food was full of flavor. Definitely telling my friends about this place. Pulva Rice was excellent. This place has just come under new management and the food I was told has been completely reworked and made with a more healthy mindset. Previous customer who are with me said it only made the food better. Couldnt tell much of a difference. Great stuff!
