A once-in-a-while sort of place due to the price, but everything is top quality. Clearly better than Marks, and rivaling Tonys. We started with Les Noix de Saint-Jacques, which is a seared scallop dish. The scallops were prepared perfectly and came with an amazing lobster sauce, which we later sopped up with our bread. My wife got the new york strip, which was also just right. It came with a side of potatoes au gratin served in a cute tiny le creuset pot and the ragout was more a sauce made with diced tomatoes rather than pureed and were excellent. It was better than the bearnaise sauce, which I think she would have preferred on the side. I got the crispy rosemary pork belly, which stunned me with deliciousness at every bite. The side of creamy polenta was expertly prepared, and I also got root vegetables (beets, which were good though Im not a beet fan) and excellent brussel sprouts. There were also drops of a super thick balsamic reduction, which added a nice counterpoint to the rest of the flavors. I would have liked a bowl of that. We ended off with their decadent chocolate rum cake, which came with not enough ice cream for the cake, but it was also very good. Not the best dessert options in town (but remember the company Im comparing this place to), but some very creative options. Its also worth mentionig that our by-the-glass wine options (a Cote du Rhone with our meals and a Marquis de la Tour with our dessert) were excellent, though we didnt get help in choosing them (we didnt ask for recommendations) and many places nowadays have respectable selections.

We had a fantastic meal at Artisans, some of the best food I have had in Houston in quite sometime. My date for the evening remarked "the amuse bouche was better than the entire meal I had at Brasserie 19". We were given a mini-vichysoisse soup as an amuse - it was creamy and delicious! We shared the scallops that came with spinach ravioli and a delicious cappucino-lobster sauce. The scallops were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was so good we were cleaning our bowls with the basket of bread that had been brought out earlier. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and my date had the Beef Tenderloin. First let me say the portions were very generous - extremely hearty but not too much to handle. The sea-bass again was cooked perfectly and was accompanied by the most delicious risotto and an incredible beurre-blanc sauce. My date asked for her tenderloin to be prepared rare (but not cold) and it was again perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. We finished off our meal with trio of creme brulees - all good but the espresso one was the winner! As well as an extremely savory saffron poached pear with ice cream and a warm bourbon sauce. All in all Artisans is some of the best food we have had in quite some time - we are so excited that we no longer have to go all the way out to Le Mistral to get some of Chef David Denis amazing cuisine. They also said they are starting brunch - CANT WAIT!!!

My wife and I had the chance to dine at this restaurant for our 1 year anniversary. It had been on my list as well so the anticipation set the bar high. Artisans did not disappoint. From the impeccable service to the savory desserts, this place rates as one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Houston. A simple glance at their rotating menu shows that Chef Michael puts a lot of thought into the creative dishes. We came on a weekday, so there were fewer patrons which helped the servers with their attentiveness even more and that really clenched the night. Undoubtedly because of their prices, and the danger of desensitizing myself of the experience, I will not visit too often. But I will be certain to visit again.

A terrific happening place to get a fantastic meal and service. Great value for the quality delivered. Bar and wait staff are truly talented and focused on providing a wonderful evening for you and your guests. Ask for Kenneth to provide a recommendation on wine or drink with your meal. He is not only is a certified Sommelier, he knows the perfect cocktail to start things off for you. As for the meal, cant go wrong with the filet. Sauces are incredible as well. Atmosphere is top notch around the floor and especially at the open kitchen seating. Wont be disappointed with this choice. A nice touch is Chef Jacques Fox comes around and spends time with his guests to make sure their evening is meeting expectations.

First off I knew this place was a little dressy and I went with the casual attire. I am pleased to announce that with this waitstaff and hostesses it made no difference. They dont treat anyone different. I was a little concerned when I saw a lot of people in suits ties and dresses. But like I said didnt matter. We got the same amazing service as anyone. The food here is off the charts. Very good please dont be intimidated by the menu. The waitstaff will explain anything you want to know as well as make recommendations. Scallops prime ribeye and the pistachio crusted sea bass were all out of this world. We will gladly be back to try more of the menu! Thank you

Loved the atmosphere. The kitchen is in the middle of the resaurant so you can see your food being made. The food was great. I Le Mistral is a bit better, of course, but it was still wonderful. The fois gras was some of the best Ive ever had. The escargot was perfect. The sommelier knows his wines. He picked perfect pairings for our food. The Tuna was a bit lackluster, but it was more of a Japanese inspired dish, so not exactly the type of thing you should order at a French restaurant anyway. I will deffinitely be going back.

We thought we would try a place we had never been to for our wedding anniversary. It was absolutely magnifique! The staff was wonderful, especially head chef/owner Jacques Fox. We tried four different appetizers including the duck, the salmon, the escargot, and the scallops, and each one was pure perfection. We also had a selection of creme brulee and the chocolate mousse. The entire experience was divine. Even though we have made this our new special occasion place to celebrate, we will be going back soon.

Pretty cozy place. Open kitchen is very entertaining. Service is spectacular. Appetizers and soup were very delicious. Wine list is satisfactory. Unfortunately the entree was a big disappointment. And I mean it!!! I would have cooked way better. Waste of money in the entree. So i guess the other reviewer had a point when he stated that the food is miss or hit. I think I missed it.

Excellent food and atmosphere. Great for date nights. Slow service (but not in a bad way!) in that they arent trying to rush you out the door and arent at your table every 2 minutes but they make sure drinks and food are to your liking. Highly recommend. Pricey, but you pay for what you get. Never been disappointed here. One of our favorite places!

Amazing food and excellent service. The employees are friendly and genuine, and its a welcome, ambient atmosphere. Its not too noisy, and you can watch the cooks as they make your food in an open setting. The Brussels sprouts are AMAZING, and the trout lunch portion was perfect. Try the mango sorbet for dessert!
