This seems to be THE restaurant in a small town with maybe half a dozen restaurants tops. Service adequate, if somewhat abrupt. Our waitress acted put out when we asked if they could split the two entrees my companion and I were sharing on separate plates. She said, "We really do not have time for that." (This was at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon - wonder how she would have responded if we had been there during the dinner crowd!) We ordered gumbo as an appetizer. It was good - had fresh tasting shrimp, spicy. The waitress then brought out some hot sourdough bread - sure would have been good to have had some of that to lop up the remaining gumbo, but it was after the fact. The entrees usually come with a large side salad and either a baked potato or fried potatoes. The baked potato came with bowls with plentiful amounts of all your favorite toppings - sour cream, cheese, real bacon and chives. Unfortunately, my salad had a small bug in it which I discovered after I had almost finished eating it. For entrees we had the Red Snapper ala Greque, which was disappointing. It had a light batter on it which I thought took away from the fresh taste of the fish. The soft shell crab with meniere sauce, on the other hand, was rich and decadent. When we left, needed to go to the restroom. Was not clean at all, perhaps because this was 4th of July weekend and lots more travelers passing through than restaurant is accustomed to. Overall, a very average dining experience. This may be the best this area has to offer, but except for the soft shell crab, ordinary food, definitely less than stellar atmosphere and service.

Place was recommended by some locals. Went there and was about half full for a saturday lunch. Took about 30 min to start getting our food after we ordered, but figured it was "fresh" so ok. My sandwich comes out as well as my wifes. My friends didnt come out yet, but we decided to start because we were starving. For being fresh, my fries were cold, and sandwich was barely warmer than room temperature, and it was fried, so fresh should have been so hot I would have to wait to eat it. Well, we see my buddys food sitting there waiting to be brought to us. Waitress continues filling drinks for the new table next to us with 8 ppl. Delivers the drinks, then proceeds to take their order, all the while his food still sitting up there waiting, and getting cold. He spent $25 on a meal that sat there chillin for 10 minutes as she served the other table. Got his food, and guess what...cold too (not to mention we were finishing our meal). Maybe it has that small town hospitality to locals but they sure dont give a d@mn about other ppl. Ended up spending $45 for some cold food. and they didnt even apologize or offer warm food as a replacement even though I left 90% of the fries and made it a point that it was cold. We do not recommend and will not return. They probably think that people like us (30 yr olds) wont tip so why should they serve us. Well you are damn right I am not going to tip if you dont serve us...but if you had, the minimum would have been 18% if you were AVERAGE.

Well Ill start by saying that the food was ok, I was a little sad that they stop serving po boys so I had to settle for something else. Wasnt something Id write home about and definitely not worth the price. But thats not why Im giving it one star. The waitress we had was rude. She actually yelled at my uncle just because he was trying to talk to my cousin as he was ordering. Apparently he was asking if the crab was real and the waitress yelled at him saying "Its NOT IMITATION!" So he made a confused face and kind of rolled his eyes so the other waiter started being rude to him as well. I thought maybe the lady was having a bad night but I really think thats just how she is. When she came to get our orders, she was standing beside me so I thought shed start by taking my order. I just casually asked "Are you starting with my order?" She glared at me and said "No. Im starting down here" then walked away from me like she was annoyed with me. When she brought our food she just dropped it in front of us in a very irritable fashion. Also there were many people in our party that received only half of their orders. At the end of the night, we realized that we were automatically charged 18% gratuity which we wouldnt have cared if our waitress was actually nice. Im guessing since she knew we were forced to tip her that she wouldnt provide quality service. In summary: Dont go. Unless you like rude waitress, mediocre food thats way overpriced, and overall terrible service.

Not even a one star worth it. The waitress was rude and not very friendly. After we gave our order to a lady and then found out fifteen min ago I that our waitress was not going to take out order from her from 15 min earlier. Then she said Lynn the owner isnt around so it doesnt really matter. Our guest are friends of the owner for many years. The most embarrassing and worst experience ever. Then the waitress still didnt turn on our order and I asked for a different waitress after learning that our order wasnt turned in after 30 min. The manager or assistant tries to make it better but after being upset with service its really hard to fix at this point. Of course no one offered any comps but I will let everyone know to go to other places in Surfside or Freeport to eat. Try any place but this place.

Ordered the crab stuffed jalapenos for an app and they were good. My boyfriend ordered the snapper ponchatrain, it was gross. He kept saying the taste reminded him of something, a few more bites and he placed it. Said it tasted like one of his military mre meals...ewww. I ordered the crab stuffed flounder, a $23 meal plus 350 to sub a baked potatoe. I got a pile of flavorless mush, it was legitimately discusting. After a bite I gave it back to the waitress and told her how bad it tasted. She grabbed the plate and came out with our check, no apology, no offer if I wanted to replace the dish with something else, no nothing. Just a here is your check. 2 ppl and our tab was $61. I will NEVER go back. I am a waitress and have been for 7 years. That place was a waste of my time & money!
