Had to be the worst experience ever! Ive never posted a review before but this had to be done. We waited the 20 min they said we would have to wait, and then some. When we went back to ask if we were still on the list, we were told there was still a wait and "she didnt know how long it would be". So we figured we had been waiting this long, might as well continue to wait. Another 25 min went by and we approached them again to ask if we were going to be seated. I said that if the wait was going to be much longer we would just take our names off the list. The lady at the register didnt seem to mind us leaving, then a man stepped in and said that our party of 5 could squeeze into a small "4" table if we wanted... which we agreed to. Then a larger table came available and we sat at the dirty table and waited another 10 min before it was cleaned. Drinks came fast but the food took another 40 min to arrive. And it was only brought after I gave a look to our waiter because we were sitting there with we empty glasses and no food. When the food arrived it was barely warm, dried out and just plain gross. After food was delivered, we never saw our waiter again. No drinks, no condiments. .. nothing. We had to go to the front for the bill. $80 later and I was appalled. Our great afternoon with our family was cut very short because of the length of time we were in that rediculous place. Very disappointed. AND TO TOP IT OFF... stopping by the ONE restroom available in this place (another 8 min wait) was the icing to the cake. Sitting in all of my glory... THE LOCK DIDNT WORK! The lady entering the restroom and I both got a shock of a lifetime. Will definitely NEVER go there again and will definitely express my disappointment to anyone I know going to the area. Sorry guys... u need a makeover and to get your act together.

The low quality explains the moderate prices for that overpriced town. Ive been to Germany around twenty times and the food I had at this restaurant was not German, not were the goods from the bakery. The pancakes were undercooked, though the edges were browned, likely caused by a grill that was too hot. The maple syrup was flavorless, not even equalling most grocery store brands. The biscuits were cooked through, but not browned at all, taken from a cool oven too early. The morning omelette was overcooked and dried out with browned egg indicating a hot griddle and inattention. Taste was absent, save for a hint of soap in the pancakes. The cinnamon roll was made from dough leftovers with no body or flavor, although the cinnamon and sugar icing did help. Half the meals and 2/3 rds of the pancakes were left behind. The staff seemed less interested than the cooks must have been and no one even inquired about "how things were." I should have said something I suppose, but simply wanted to leave. A sad meal. Should have gone to Dennys, however, they had closed.

PlanetXploration World DeTour- After making a trek up to the top of Enchanted Rock, we stopped in Fredericksburg to grab a bite of eat. Being from German decent, I was craving some Schnitzel, so we stopped at the Old German Bakery & Restaurant. It was a quaint little place that was packed full of weekend tourists, probably from nearby San Antonio or Austin. I ordered the Jagerschnitzel Schnitzel, which was a enormous pork steak covered in gravy and topped with onions, peppers and mushrooms. And of course it came with German pan fries...and a salad. It was absolutely delicious...but so much for burning off all of those calories on my hike, lol. When we left, they gave us a big bag of pastries, which also were very good. I guess Ill have to find an excuse to go hiking again so I can stop in and try the Berliner Currywurst, Hackbraten (Germna Meatloaf), or Opas Bratwurst.

The food is tasty, but not excitingly so, just a great solid spot for a hearty meal. I had the chicken sandwich, and the pretzel roll really elevated what was an ok sandwich to something even better. My friend had the bratwurst and enjoyed it. The warm potato salad us definitely recommended! This place is crazy busy, even at 2pm on a weekday. We werent quite sure if we needed to wait to be seated or if we should seat ourselves... if youre a first time visitor it is a bit confusing. I had to track an employee down who informed me we seat ourselves but we had to stand next to a table waiting for it to be bussed from the last patrons. We picked up one of the pastries with raspberry and bavarian creme which was amazing. The atmosphere is casual, loud, and chaotic!

My in laws are in town from Colorado and my father in law is German - we read the reviews and said lets give it a shot.... disappointed does not give justice to our feelings. My father in law and husband both ordered the jagerschnitzel and fries - it came out it was not that but just a schnitzel with German potatoes And beets. When we corrected the young man who came out - our waitress came back and said "You ordered the schnitzel". We all clarified that was not the case. My mother I law and I ordered the chicken salad which sounded amazing with peaches and walnuts. Bottom line we were not impressed with food or the service. Bonus both bath rooms were out of service. It could have been an off day... but we will be checking others out others in the area.

I couldnt even explain the rude attitude we just experienced with our waitress. She was nice when we came and there were about 5 tables full in the restaurant. She asked for our drink orders and never came back with them. 10 minutes later she returned and said she didnt have our drinks yet (which consisted of waters and coffees) but asked for our food order. 10 minutes later, one of our party sweetly asked her if she didnt mind grabbing our drinks and she said in a very stern voice "I told yall I was coming back with them." When she came back with drinks, she slammed them down on the table without saying a word. I cant even enjoy sitting here for the remainder of breakfast because of how insanely rude she is.

Well we got here early and were able to sit anywhere we liked. My husband wanted the schnitzel and I decided to get what was supposed to be their famous pancakes. Upon ordering I noticed no specials for the pancakes and the prices were kind of expensive for basic breakfast food. Waited twenty minutes for a cold crepe pancake with no flavor that I was charged 3 bucks extra for and warm eggs. My husband had a dry schnitzel patty or whatever that was with lukewarm sides hash browns and eggs. Overall I feel that they rip off tourist in this place, food is subpar at best. I shouldve waited and just went to Ihop on my way to San Antonio. First and last time here. That is all....
