Came here because of great reviews, people loved it, ect. And….I just dont get it. 1/2 price iced coffee happy hour was cool, the study vibe was great. It was clean, and the employees friendly, but thats where my praise stiffens. The coffee was average, parking requires you to park down the road, and the guy with no shoes on the fabric chair who gets up occasionally to go outside on his phone, then returns, and never leaves felt rude. If you want to drink in, it is hard to find sitting because no one ever leaves and the limited space. The options for baked goods, and sustenance to accompany your coffee is scarce, and I was hungry. I wanted to love this place, it is close and I have the need to buy coffee and food often, but between the terrible parking, immovable clients, ok coffee, and lack of food options…I just cant justify coming back. If you live close, walk, and get here early to stake out a place for 10 hours, its a good choice, but for everyone else, I recommend going somewhere more convenient and comfortable. As always, just my opinion.

I have never reviewed any place before, but I felt compelled to do so by how great this coffee shop was. I was looking for a local coffee shop where I could work without feeling like people were waiting for me to leave. While the actual seating area is small this place does such a great job of creating a friendly community atmosphere that no one seemed to mind sharing space a bit more than you normally would (where we each need our own table with 4 chairs for us and our laptops). This was hands down the best service experience Ive every had. The baristas were incredibly friendly, down to earth, and helpful. They talked to all the customers like real people that they cared about, but also got your food/drinks out in a timely manner. I watched one barista redo a drink twice for a woman who didnt like how hed made it, and he didnt seem the least frustrated. The only downside to this place that I noticed is that they dont have much going on in the food area. I came around lunch time and the only meal option they had was a breakfast bagel sandwich.

Great coffee, chill atmosphere, very local feel. The coffee at oak lawn coffee is fantastic. Theyve got bold, strong coffee and dainty drinks for those who like lighter stuff. Im a huge fan of the tody ole, the ice coffee, and the shaken espresso. The atmosphere is super chill and local. Its a wealthier crowd, but still a good mix thats not dominated by one demographic. Ive seen older adults, young college students, people from the gayborhood, church friends, all ethnicities, people relaxing, and people studying for exams. They have a long wood bar against a window for those who want to study, a couch for relaxing, and tables for socializing. There are plugs, a decent amount of parking, and free WiFi. My only complaint are: (1) they skimp on the shaken espresso. That drink is awesome, but almost always comes like 3/4 full. (2) they need to fix their bathroom! The door is coming off the hinge and doesnt lock and all they have done is put up like three signs that say things like, be careful or this door doesnt lock.

Great wifi!! So, my wifi was on the fritz at home, and I drove to the Starbucks down on Cole to get some work done. I love that place, so many people busy working, unfortunately either because Starubucks wifi is not great, or because there are 50 people with their laptops up using it, it was super uber slow, the guy sitting next to me had the same blank look on his face, waiting for a single page to load. I drove over here, to Oak Lawn coffee, got an iced tea, and thank goodness, their wifi is blazing fast. I havent had their coffee yet, but their muffins are to die for. They ship them in fresh every day from Oak Cliff, never frozen, ohmygosh that Strawberry Muffin is just like heaven. The staff is also wonderfully friendly, great customer service, and the place is super sunny/cozy. Im a night owl, I wish they were open later, but Id wake early any day just for those muffins.

Have I not reviewed Oak Lawn Coffee yet? Man... its awesome. Straight up. Great coffee, although they dont roast their own beans in house. Great food... REAL egg, bacon, and great muffins. Have you had the strawberry muffin? Its amazing. Everything here is amazing. The walls, ceiling, seating areas, etc... all good. And the local art was a good time-consumer and helped move conversation along. I had the new Lavender Mocha... quite interesting. Like flowers in your mocha, but in a good way. She had the peppermint mocha, and was MUCH better than The Bux. Overall, Id say this is my new "go-to" place for morning coffee. HOWEVER, if youre going to meet with someone, or a group of people, go to Crooked Tree because the one thing Oak Lawn Coffee does not have is a ton of extra seating. Itd be a gamble if youre coming during peak hours trying to grab a free seat.

I tried Oak Lawn coffee twice after reading an article about alternatives to Starbucks in the Dallas area (Starbucks is fine, but I think you generally get a better cup of coffee at independent coffee houses). The first time I went, I got a latte. I couldnt swear that there was actually any espresso in the drink. It tasted like a cup of warm milk. The cash register wasnt working, so the guy gave me my drink for free (which I though was pretty nice) and a coupon for a free cup of coffee for my next visit (he didnt have to do that, but it was nice of him). On my second visit, I got a mocha. This time I asked for an extra shot of espresso. My coffee was still pretty flavorless. Sorry guys, I dont know what youre doing there at Oak Lawn Coffee, but I dont think Ill be back. I need my coffee to actually have some coffee flavor to it, thank you. Good luck.

I was at Texas Scottish Rite and needed some joe. Found this place on Google Maps and walked the three blocks so I could get my satisfaction. For myself, a quad grande iced americano and for the better half, a chai latte w/ add-shot. That chai was interesting. They brew their own chai from a tea bag. The wife said was great. Thanks guys. Youre real life savers. The place itself was quit, and bright. There looked to be several different meetings going on at the same time, yet the place did not feel cramped. Great use of limited space.

Heard some mixed things about this place, but the pictures looked interesting and my wife and I are coffee lovers so we have it a shot. And it was not worth it. My wifes latte had no flavor at all, and my Americano was one of the worst I have ever had. The inside seating area was limited and obvious to us that the other customers had been camping there for hours. We left our drinks half way through and went to Houndstooth instead.

Wish I could give this at least a four and a half, but no option. :( Either way- this is a great spot, great people, great art, great sunlight! I never get that pretentious vibe I generally get from being in uptown. My only complaint is the chai! Its pretty much my only drink and it needs work! I LOVE that it is actual brewed chai and not a concentrate, but we need to spice it up- add some flava!
