Normally, we have, a fantastic experience at this theater. We have seen many movies over the past few years at this location. Yesterday, however, the movie JOY wouldnt start. After two movie patrons went to ask about the start time an employee came in and told us it would start in 10 to 15 minutes. It didnt! The movie was slated to start at 10:35 am and at approximately 11:05 we, and most of the theater 5 patrons, left. We then asked for reimbursement. The employee at the ticket booth was quick to refund our money. We tried to talk to the theater manager but were told he was "too busy" to come talk to us. It is very possible that he was busy attempting to get the movie to play, however, he should have come and delivered more information to us and also offered us reimbursement and a voucher for the next time we visit. We asked for this at the ticket booth and we were told we could either wait for the manager to come talk to us (and we were told that they had no idea how long it would take) or we could leave our name and number and we would be called. We left our name and number, still waiting on that call.......... Im giving a rating of 3 stars (normally a 5 star location) because usually we love the place. Yesterday, though, left us wondering about where we will watch movies in the future.

The theater itself is GREAT! They had a lot of cool movies playing. It only takes one bad thing to ruin an experience though. I will say that the cashier at the upstairs concession stand (austin was his name) was extremely rude and impatient while I was deciding what to order. He looked as if he had something better to do. He was also talking to a fellow sales associate about "upselling" right in front of me, which is a big no-no. I work in the sevice industry and you should never discuss sales techniques infront of a guest. He never once said thank you, or enjoy the show. Nada. Very rude..very disapointing. Other than that, everything else was fabulous and I will definitely be back.

I was not pleased. Went here with girlfriend for our first time and probably wont come back. I purchased tickets online, no reserved seats like most theaters nowadays. I wanted popcorn and the machine was broken. The carpet looks old and dirty. The theater is a bit on the small side so when we got there were only floor level seats available. And there was a funny smell, a humid smell I cant really describe it. I guessed I was expecting something like a movie studio grill since I read they sold food and could eat inside the theater. Honestly i rather go to cinemark or amc for the price.

The Angelika is probably the best you can get in Dallas for independent and foreign films, but is certainly below par with other art houses Ive been to in other cities. The girl at the cafe and bar wouldnt sell me a beer because "they dont take out of state licenses. and SMU students try to pass off fakes". I understand that theyre trying to do the right thing, but discriminating against honest customers who dont live in Texas was a big turn off for me.

Exquisite! Every time I come here it is a memorable experience. I drive all the way from north Texas about 50 miles away to come here specifically. Great atmosphere decent espresso most of the time and great service. Oh yeah and anyone looking for a romantic make out spot? Here is the place! My only suggestion is for your website to list what movies are playing at your late night Friday showings. The events page is barren!

Five stars for the typically awesome availability of unusual films. They sometimes do group screenings of television shows too, which is nice if you dont have bonus cable channels like HBO. Bar downstairs, nice facilities. Snack bar upstairs is expensive, but thats par for the course for theaters these days. Id venture to say theres not enough seating upstairs, but theres also not much waiting around, so whatever.

Gorgeous, chic and classy place to catch an indie or artistic film before dinner or drinks nearby. Prices are what you would expect from a movie theatre, concessions are good but at typical theatre prices. Staff was very friendly and seating was comfortable. Café served perfect coffee and appetizers. All in all, a very good place to lose yourself in film for a few hours.

Great theater usually with hit and miss sound -- on several occasions including Snowpiercer most recently, the front left channel of the system was out. Worked perfectly during the trailers, but once the feature started, nothing. Nobody else seemed to notice, but to me, unacceptable for a movie theater that prides itself on being a place for film lovers.

This is the best theatre in Dallas. They have some of the best movies you cannot see elsewhere. Some of the best independent films are played here. Not to mention that they also host the Dallas international film festival. I just wish they had more bicycle parking nearby, its inconvenient walking your bike to the spots designated for Mockingbird Station.

An independent film theater that really feels like an independent theater. I always like the movies I see and I prefer The Angelika to any of the other theaters in Dallas and that says something since Dallas has one of the most sophisticated theaters that exists (I believe there are only three in the country with respect to the technology used).

Really enjoy the movies they book here. The atmosphere around the theater is nice as well, plenty of before/after places to eat and shop. Its not a perfect 5 starts IMO because the auditoriums have this musty-type of smell, and I feel like the seats are always a little sticky. The $11 alcohol and $10 glasses of wine dont help either.

I looked high snd low for a theater that was showing the movie (45 Years). We traveled fir ovet an hour to see this movie at the Angleika and my wife and I was not disappointed. My wife and I was amazed by the theaters atmosphere and charming surroundings inside and out. We enjoyed a phenomenal movie at a exceptional theater.

I really like that this theater is centrally located right on the DART line. They show a variety of movies; first run, independent, and classics. The theaters are freezing! They need to offer blankets! Ticket kiosks are not dependable. Refreshments expensive. Seats really comfortable. Very clean. Staff just there.

Great theater with friendly staff, great selection of movies, everything from big blockbusters to small independent films, to reruns and marathons of classic movies and movie series. The only downside, that is easily forgiven, is that the building is aging significantly, but besides that, the best theater in Dallas.

This is my favorite theater, as to convenience, movie selection, and staff. However -- we simply MUST convince them not to only offer yellow grease to serve as butter on the popcorn. It is nasty, and other theaters in the area serve real butter. Come on, Angelika. Classy popcorn, too!

This is one of my favorite places in dallas. The building is obviously a little old, but parking is super easy, the cafe has a great tea selection, and obviously the movies are always an incredible selection. Good way to spend an evening in the city- at the theater.
