Mothers Day at The Shack A few months ago we accidentally stopped into this location as we werent aware of the location on Cypress Rosehill Rd. So we basically walked in, sat down, got a call from our friends and realized we were at the wrong place and left. In the 5 minutes we spent there the impression I got was it was a cozy spot with a relaxed vibe. I noticed a table of board games near the entrance which sent a message that this place didnt mind if you came to hang out for the day. We ended up at the other location and had a great time and some fantastic food, so when Mothers Day came around, my lovely wife suggested we try the location closer to us. Compared to the original location, the outdoor seating area is smaller as is the kids play area (which is still pretty stinking good-swings, tires, old bus, sand) but it has a nice indoor setup which I did not see at all at the original location. I imagine the big fans inside would be nice once the Houston summer is fully upon us. The menu is the same and the food was just as delicious! The tap menu (draft and cider) was roughly half the size of the Rosehill location but still more than most places Ive been with lots of variety. Just like the original place, the ordering is walk up but unlike the other Shack where they bring your food around to you, you pick up back at the counter you ordered from so keep your ears open for your order name (we had George Strait). Also the food was ready super fast. We were eating within 15 minutes! Had the Slow Rock Fries again (brisket and cheese on fries?! uhhh, yes please!!) and the Bad Decision burger (2 grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun! AWESOME) We sat outside where we could keep an eye on our little ones while they played and occasionally ran to the table to grab a bite of food. Paper towel on every table makes cleaning sticky fingers and faces nice and easy. I love both places and will definitely go back whenever Im craving the best burger in Houston!

It was our 1st time at this Telge location. When we walked in, there was a live trivia game ending which is kind of a neat idea. Too bad we missed that! We walked in and stood around not sure what to do as nobody greeted us. We soon located a sign saying we should grab a menu, seat ourselves, and order at the counter next to the bar. We were charged $60 for 3 burgers, 3 drinks, & 3 fries (daughter ordered cheesy fries & husband ordered onion rings). I thought this was a little pricy for hamburgers but knew from experience that they were good. What shocked me though was when the cashier flipped around the screen and gave us an opportunity to leave a tip. A tip for what? They gave us a characters name for our order and we had to go pick it up ourselves when they called. The extent of the "service" was that right at closing, we were still there, a girl came around and picked up 1 of the 3 trays we had on our table. On a positive note, the burgers were great! And they now have a soda fountain machine, so free refills are now an option. Bottom Line: The food was good, people were friendly, but the "service" was non-existent so Im perplexed by the mild pressure to tip when the food is already expensive enough. Final Thought: Dont sit outside until after youve received your order. You cant hear the call telling you your order is ready and they wont come out to bring it to you, no matter how slow they are.

I have eaten at The Shack 6 or 7 times. This is the first time at this location. This location is an order at the counter, get called to get your food type of place vs the other one that has servers. I dont mind that. It was very clean inside and the kids had a blast on the playground. I do like their food, although I feel some of the quality has gone down since eating there the first time over a year ago. I was told there is new ownership, but I have not looked that info up to confirm. The chicken tenders were good. Sauce was good. The burger I had-kid size - the bun was very dry, burger was on the dry side too. The sweet potatoes fries were very good. The reason Im giving it 3 stars is because after eating there, and not even eating a lot, my son and I feel awful. My son gets it worse. I think they have some type of food additive or the grease is too much. Im not sure. We eat out plenty and this doesnt happen other places like at this place. Today after 10 min of eating 1/3 of a burger, my son said he felt very crampy. I only ate about the same (both kid size burgers) and didnt feel great. Im not sure what they put in their food, but if you have sensitivities, just be cautious.

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR REVIEW! Stood in a line only 3 deep to order but our bottles (Shiner Bock and 90 Minute Dogfish) while chilled on the outside but borderline warm. They give you a celebrity name and call you when your order is up, we were at a table where we could not hear the PA so after ordering at 1:45 I went to the counter at 2:00 and found our fries (only) were up but now cold. Also found others with the same problem waiting at the counter, they say after two calls they bring your order to your table but after how long? So I decided to wait at the counter to get our order hot which blew the ambiance of the afternoon as we wanted to sit (not stand and wait) and chill. A guy waiting ahead of me said he was waiting for the orders for four families who had spent over $400 and when he complained the waitstaff said he could go somewhere else. Another lady ahead of me showed me her time/date stamped receipt at 1:31, at 2:25 she was still standing so we left for another place else to eat. Whoever got our Holy Guacamole burgers, please submit your review!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! I heard this place had good burgers so I decided to try it. I went in and was not greeted wby anyone. I read the sign and grabbed the menu and sat myself. After reading the menu I placed my order. Then I noticed it didnt come with fries. I was in shock. $12 for a hamburger. $5 for fries and $ 3 dollars for a soft drink. I couldnt believe it!!! So I did the quick math and realized its a rip off. $ dollars for a hamburger meal. Seeing how it was me and my wife there was no way I was going to pay $40 for 2 hamburgers and fries.. EXPECIALLY when I seat my self, place the order at the bar, then pick it up. And get my own drink. I immediately canceled my order and left.. THAT WAS JUST RIDICULOUS! !!!!!! So I went to wills and had a chicken Strip WITH fries a kids chicken strip meal for wife a small fried mushroom order and 2 waters. FOR A TOTAL of $21.72 tip included. The service was great their to btw... good luck the shack. You need it
