My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for several years. We moved clear across town and still drove the distance because we always enjoyed it so much. The food was consistently good, the service was spot on and the atmosphere was fun, with the birds in the lobby constantly calling out to the customers it was just so much fun. But things have changed. Now when you walk up to the door, the bird (only 1 now) is outside looking sad and pathetic. When I asked why I was told it makes to much noise-STRIKE ONE. The girls at the entrance were busy chatting and not paying a bit of attention to who was coming in - STRIKE TWO. Of course we did have wonderful service from Melchor who is the best of the best. But the food was not good -STRIKE THREE. The fajita meat was tasteless. The shrimp was so overcooked you couldnt even cut it. So I didnt eat it. Which made my Shrimp Vallarta pointless. And everyone seemed so stressed out. The servers were not there happy, fun selves. They were not smiling or enjoying themselves which was a huge disappointment - STRIKE FOUR. But the biggest disappointment was the new manager. I had never seen her before in all of the times we have been there. When I told her that I had noticed the changes she actually said to me "there have been no changes." Does she think Im blind or crazy. She acted like how dare I make a complaint about things. She was very curt with me. When I told her my food had been so bad I couldnt eat it, not one time did she offer to discount it or make it right. She said that all of the recipes were the same as always and that the kitchen staff was the same. I found her to be rude and unprofessional. When we have family in from out of town (which is quite often) we would always take them to "our favorite restaurant". That will not be the case now. I believe that the food could be resolved. I believe the atmosphere could be resolved. But I do not believe that the manager that blatantly lied to me when I was there could ever be fixed. So as long as she is there, I will not be. Which is a shame considering the amount of money we spent there last year. So sorry that they have let someone come in and run off their faithful customers.

We moved to Cypress 13 years ago. La Hacienda was one of the few really good places to go out and enjoy a meal. We even had our rehearsal dinner here 10 years ago. We dropped by this afternoon to enjoy a couple of margaritas and share some fajitas. The drinks tasted like the powdered mix they were made from. When we ordered the fajitas for one and a beef taco on the side to share the waitress asked "is that all?". We said "yes, we are just going to share it". The server rolled her eyes and left. Less than a minute later she arrived with the taco. I informed her I wanted it with the fajitas and she again asked "Is that all youre having?". I said yes and told her that it was OK, just leave the taco. About 15 minutes later, another server came up and asked us for our order. We said we already ordered from another person. He said she didnt get the order. He then asked "What did you order again, beef fajitas for two right?". We told him no, we were just going to share the single entree. We shared the taco instead and asked for the check. We never saw the waitress again. It is a shame that a good restaurant can be ruined by a bad server, but it is more of a shame when a good restaurant starts serving bad food along with surly servers. My advice is to go to Alicias at Cypress-Rosehill or Sergios by the outlet mall. The one good thing I can say about our experience is that the busboy was extremely polite. His name was Erick. Cecillia was the surly server. We tipped accordingly. We gave the busboy 15% and the waitress 5%.

Unfortunately no option for "0" stars because this place definitely deserves it. I was close to going into the kitchen and making the rice myself because according the waiter, "There is no more rice." At a Mexican restaurant?!?! Really?!?! Wow... Completely blown away and without a doubt disappointed at the poor customer service, lack of "rice", 30+ minute wait to get our food and cold at that. With an hour left to close, they started picking up our food while I was still attempting to make a taco off my plate smh. Sad and sorry excuse for a "Mexican" restaurant... With no rice at that. Update... 20 minutes after writing the above paragraph... We had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get our receipts because the system was down... When trying to pay we were advised they were not taking credit/debit "but there was an ATM nearby..." -_- Somehow their system was not able to separate the alcoholic beverages to our tickets either so we had to split the ticket amongst us all, completely unnecessary and a total inconvenience for what should have been a birthday celebration.

First time here and I already know this is my new regular Tex-Mex restaurant! It has such a fantastic atmosphere in the main room with their wonderful village courtyard facade! Arriving just before 6PM on a Tuesday night, we were seated quickly and supplied with the customary and excellent thin and crispy chips with red (rojo) and green (verde) sauces that were thankfully NOT heated (which I very much prefer!) For the appetizer, I ordered the Eduardo Dip (queso and ground taco meat) with pickled jalapenos which was good and actually more meat than queso. For dinner, I searched the menu for what I consider to be the Holy Trinity of TexMex, a crispy beef taco, a beef enchilada and tamale with rice and refried beans. The closest match was their Vera Cruz where I simply asked them to replace the cheese enchilada with beef. ¡Muy bueno! All in all, absolutely great and I will definitely be back!

First, upon returning from the restroom my son noted an employee dipping and eating chips from the communal storage container....disgusting! Then; was charged for extra food items that were not ordered, delivered, or consumed. Not once... not twice.... THREE TIMES! A $42 dinner ended up costing $163. We spoke to the person in charge wanting a refund, they said they would credit us for 1 item. They insistently ran my credit card 2 more times. When I returned home, I checked my bank account, my account was charged 3 separate times, all for different amounts. I then called the restaurant, asking for a refund, they replied stating there was nothing they could do. Lastly, after several Inquiries without return calls (as promised) I requested a face to face meeting with the owner and was told " I will check his schedule and get back to you". Of course no return call and still no credit.

When this place first opened it was THE thing around town. The food was made fresh and it was great, the play area, and the place was spotless. Then after around 3 years it became so popular that they had to expand, they made the outside area and extended the back parking lot, then the quality of their food started to diminish to what it is today. It seems like they get packages out of the back, defrost it, and add some seasoning. I miss the days when the food tasted fresh and was the best around. One thing that doesnt seem to have lost quality is their margaritas. So if youre out with your kids and want to have a good margarita while your kids play in the play area, this is a good place.
