I never even knew this place existed until recently! This use to be the Austin cake ball restaurant. For the cocktails, I had one of the "Candy Girl" which was cotton candy vodka, champagne, homespun cotton candy, and a peice of pink rock candy floating at the bottom that made the drink fizzy and bubbly looking. They told us that they had a baby shower there just a few days before and they put a peice of blue rock candy in it to make the drink blue for the baby boy shower, what a creative idea! The second drink I had was "The Ginger" which had ginger liqueur, vodka, ginger beer, and a peice of white chocolate shell as the garnish. Both drinks were very sweet which is how I prefer my drinks. I personally like the Candy Girl just because I am a champagne girl :) The third drink that I tried was the Lychee Martini. Its not as sweet at most lychee martinis that Ive had at other places but it was very delicious. Visually, it was amazing. Now on to the noms! My favorite was the crab balls. Mainly because I am a big fan of crab. They use real lumps of crab meat and much of it! Another favorite is the hummus. I prefered the roasted pepper hummus compared to the edamame one since it was a bit more flavorful. Now on to the BALLS! They are visually beautiful. My favorite was the strawberries and cream! The cake inside was very moist. I ended up buying 2 half dozen boxes to-go to take home and give as a present. They had a baby shower designed box which my friends loved as a present, and for 16.99, it was a nice little gift. I would def come back to this place and bring many friends for happy hour. As for the cake balls, it would be hard for me to buy all the time just because of the price. For 3 bucks each, it would definitely be something that I can do to treat myself every once in a while :)

I went here under extreme protest on their second night of being open. I am fundamentally opposed to cake balls (and cupcakes also), but since I am married, I seem to end up at these types of places more often than i would choose. I wont mince words about the service. It was hellaciously bad. Our server was well-intentioned, but in a restaurant that was virtually empty save for 2 other tables, something had to have gone terribly wrong. After 20 minutes of waiting for our apps, we received notice that there had been a mistake and the order had only JUST THEN been put in. Later, when we ordered cake balls for dessert, it took a full 25 minutes to receive them. Bear in mind we were seated about 5 feet away from the counter where all the cake balls are, and we ordered things that were present in the case. They simply plop them on the plate with an accompanying drizzle of sauce. Obviously openings are rough, but 2 sandwiches and 4 cake balls is hardly a challenge. The worst part is that the food was actually pretty decent. The truffled deviled eggs were good (and I stole the recipe for a party the following weekend), my grilled cheese and bacon sandwich was merely ok, but my wifes smoked salmon tartine was both generously portioned AND legitimately delicious. I also got the ruby wine flight (it was called something slightly different at first i believe) and was very happy with the 3 wines. The cake balls themselves were good, but Im not sure that they stood up as a restaurant dessert. In all fairness, they do have more elaborate composed desserts on the menu. All in all it was a fairly pricey dinner, but not unsatisfying. Im sure they will work out the kinks in the service, but I will never admit that cake balls are the dessert of the future.

was here yesterday at 2:00 for a late lunch and sat myself at a table immediately outside the front door in full view of the interior. Only 1 other table outside and 1 inside were seated. ISSUE #1: I sat at the table for 16 minutes before I finally went inside to see 1 male staff member stocking the counter. He sees me and says Ill be right out. If he saw me, he should have stopped stocking and come out and greeted me. ISSUE #2: All the outdoor tables were covered in leaves and pollen and the waiter brings me a glass of water and a menu and puts them on this dirty table. He doesnt ask me for a drink order and starts to walk away. I have to ask him to please wipe off off the table - this should be common sense, you dont set a dirty table for a customer. ISSUE #3: Same waiter comes out with a rag that looks like it had been used to clean the floor. It was filthy and disgusting and he wipes my table that Im going to eat on with this germ-infested rag and then walks away. ISSUE #4: I proceed to wait and wait and then seriously after 35 min of sitting at this table with awful service and no one to ever take my drink order or food order I left. Management: I understand 2:00 may not be your "peak" time but you need to staff adequately and better train your employees in hygienic practices. I used to go here frequently but the last couple times I have been to your restaurant, the service has been awful or no service at all (twice). With all the other options in the Domain, if you dont step up your game, you will vanish.

HAPPY HOUR REVIEW: Happy hour runs from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. daily all night Monday and Tuesday and from 9:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. They have $3.00 beers, half off appetizers, $6.00 cocktails and wine and discounts on wine flights. Cocktails: I had the Jam Jar Margarita and the Seaglass Cabernet which were on the happy hour menu. The margarita flavor was good and the sweet and tart rim was unique but, I question how much tequila was actually in it. It tasted more like juice so, I switched to the wine. Little disappointed on the wine as well because the pour was definitely under a standard restaurant pour. Food: We had the pimento cheese and it was just ok and honestly the presentation was just way over the top. It looked like a windmill and I think they are just trying to be overly creative. I have had better pimento cheese dishes at other restaurants so, I would skip this. The crab cake flavor was ok as well and I would order it again during happy hour but, wouldnt pay full price for it. I do have to admit that the remoulade was impressive. The truffle deviled eggs were the shining star of our ordering. The presentation was beautiful and the roasted red pepper and basil aioli was the perfect compliment to the flavors. Unlike most restaurants that claim the deviled eggs have truffle in or on them, you can really taste it on these. These may be the best deviled eggs that I have ever had.

So I gotta say...this visit to Copper was night and day from the first one! I went on a Tuesday night to reap the benefits of their all-night Happy Hour was so pleasantly surprised with the array of choices! I had the truffled deviled eggs and fried lavender goat cheese balls w/honey to start. Both were absolutely delicious! I accompanied these w/a Lychee Lee which has an edible orchid ice cube floating in it and was fantastically refreshing! I then had the fried shrimp tacos for my main dish and these were a revelation! They paired surprisingly well with the Candy Girl cocktail! The sweet and spicy went really well together! And, the best part of the Candy Girl was the rock candy "twist", luv it! I ended my HH foray with a super delectable Mexican Chocolate cakeball, which was the perfect balance of sweetness and smoky spice! The presentation was also abfab! From the plating of each dish to the attention to details of each cocktail to even the decorative plating of my cakeball; everything tasted as good as it looked! Another honorable mention goes out to Taylor, my amazing waitress! From the moment I sat down she was so gracious and attentive! I also like that she knew the menu and was able to make informed suggestions when I asked for preferences between items. Will definitely be back with company for another Tuesday all-niter HH binge!
