New Jollyville location: Went there the other day for a late breakfast. They have done nothing to the place but ad a new sign. Im guessing the place now has two owners- one for the bar business and Austin Diner for the food. The management needs to train the waiter staff to be more attentive. Check the table and make sure I have everything when my order is delivered- thats restaurant management 101. Took forever to bring my bill and settle up. Food in general- Meh I really hope they improve the ambiance too. Late morning and the had tv audio on with loudy crappy music blaring over tvs- not really what patrons at that hour are excepting I think. If you want to escape the loud music and the bar area and its not good outside, there is a separate room with terrible, bright overhead lights. Im being nice here giving it 3 stars (more like 2.5). Im hoping they make some changes- will try it again at some point to see!

Okay for the service, food is typically great. Been eating here for a few years and I gotta say the service sucks just about every time. We went this last Sunday and when I asked the gal what the specials were, because they were too far to read, she just points at the sign. Then she took our drink order which she got wrong, as always. The other waitress who took care of us after that was really nice and attentive, but we overheard that she was just filling in. She should fill in more often as she was fantastic. They have tablets to take the order, which speed up the process, but the issue is with some of the employees who seem to have been there forever. Two things here are consistent, good food, shitty service.

Its not a fancy place: diner atmosphere, you seat yourself, booths could use a makeover. But the service is good and its a solid breakfast choice, which they serve all day long. I like the "two egg" plate: two eggs your way, toast or even better I substitute a pancake, bacon or sausage, hash browns (nicely crispy and browned on the top), home fries or grits. The generous-sized fruit cup is usually a mix of fresh and canned fruit: berries, honeydew melon, grapes, banana and pineapple. The coffee is decent.

First time at their new location... actually went to Omelettry first but didnt want to wait... (large crowd) so driving up Burnet I remembered Austin Diner. Went in ... only a few people ahead of us... waited only about 10 minutes even though all the seats were taken so we were waiting for a table to open... overall the toughest thing was decided what to get. Anyways, the service was good and the food delicious. Nothing amazing but good as an Omelettry substitute. Give them a shot.

I have lunch here on weekdays with my brother, who is a chef. Its a great diner, lovely staff, rarely crowded, good, fresh salad options, and theyre happy to customize your plate (my brother ordered fried chicken on pancakes last week, and it was awesome). The California griddle plate & the Cafe Salad are two of my staples. The migas are legit (hash browns over breakfast potatoes, IMO), the milkshakes are awesome, and the biscuits and gravy are a very filling deal.

I have to agree that the service is not so great here, partly because it was so busy. My wife had a couple of complaints about the food, first and foremost that the pork chop was rare in parts and the other that they overcooked her over-easy eggs. They give up the hot sauce like it was gold, only after asking they give you a tiny thimble full. No one on the staff seemed anxious to make you happy. The food was otherwise great, if not a tad overpriced.

This place is right across the street from my house, so I definitely have hit it up on more than one Sunday morning. A lot of people come here hungover, so there will likely be a wait on the weekends. Awesome migas, a Texas tradition. The chiliquilis, being spelled wrong, are also made strangely. Its chips for breakfast...so, Im not so into them. The staff is rushed most of the time, and can be a little slow, but hey theyre hungover too.

It was our first time here. It looked busy when we walked in. Im sure it aint normally that bad. When we sat I felt the springs from the seat and it was very uncomfortable. The food wasnt great but wasnt the worst. My scrambled eggs grossed me out. I couldnt finish them. They were runny on the inside. It might be better next time. If we come back.

A bizarrely perfect mashup of 50s diner and tex-mex cafe. Stick with the breakfast menu and just forget about the lunch and dinner items. The breakfast skillets are enormous and delicious. The pancakes are perfection. The daily specials are always worth checking out as they usually have a Mexican twist, and thats where this place really shines.

I had the Migas and they were absolutely FANTASTIC!! The black beans were perfect, the home fries were great, and their salsa was equally fantastic. Ive already recommended this place to family as a place they should go for breakfast. The environment is nice and comfortable with a dash of retro flavor. Hands down, they earned five stars!!

We just discovered Austin Diner this past weekend, when we went with a group of six for a late breakfast. And no one was disappointed! The food was delicious, the place is adorable, and the server was super-friendly. We each had a different breakfast dish, and no one left a crumb on their plate! We will be back for lunch or dinner soon.

People complain about service but that doesnt matter when it comes to the food here. I know how good southern food is supposed to taste and this was the BEST southern food Ive had since Ive been in Austin. Those other places that people rave about here in Austin but in my honest opinion they dont compare to this place.

Horrible. Very disappointing as there are so few places like this in Austin. Chicken fried steak was just awful. The grease tasted like it was a hundred years old.... I am, no lie, heading to JuiceLand right now to try and get the taste out of my mouth. Just horrible!

A group of us ate there a couple of weeks ago and in one of the meals, there was a twist tie. We showed the waiter and he said hed tell the kitchen, but we were still charged -- no half price, no discount, nothing. Doesnt exactly make us anxious to go back.

Was driving by and and an omelet for lunch sounded good. I sat at the counter was helped and placed my order. Definitely a diner in the best possible way. Try it, it was tasty I ordered the Mexican omelet. the ranchero sauce provided the flavor
