NO CUSTOMER SERVICE LOYALTY! CARE MORE ABOUT $6 bucks than DOING THE RIGHT THING. NO INTEGRITY. My husband and I have visited Marquez Bakery several times, and each time I got excited to taste their tres leches cake. I was happy I finally found a place with delicious tres leches. We loved it so much we even ordered a groom wedding cake in 2012. We went back several times and ordered whole tres leches cake. My husband happened to be in the area (40 minutes away from our home) and purchased two slices of tres leches along with a few other items. 2 tres leches slices were $6.98. I tasted the slices when he got home. The top was DRY AND CRUMBY, and had a BAD taste to it, and the bottom was soggy and milk tasted rotten. It made my stomach queasy. I took two little bites and decided to throw it away, didnt even open the 2nd slice. I called them immediately, the worker told me that it was old cake (3 days old) and if had our receipt (which we did) could return it. I gave them my number and the manager called me the following day. I told her I just wanted a refund because to drive 80 mins round trip for 2 slices of cake was not worth it. They told me they just tasted the cake THERE (NOT THE ONE I TASTED OBVIOUSLY) and it was FINE. I told them, well the one I had was terrible and old, they said well ours tastes good. We went back and forth. No "customer is always right" here! I even told them the person yesterday told me the cake was old. They told me I could drive there and then they could taste it and see, I told them I was not driving 80 mins and to please just refund my $6.98. They said NO. I asked them if they are more concerned with $6.98 than a happy and RETURNING customer, I told them all the business I have brought them, and the worker said she would ask her manager again, after being on hold for 10 minutes told, they gave me the same answer, NO. I let them know I would be giving them a bad review. ALL FOR $6. Is that not worth a happy, returning customer thats been loyal to you? NOT TO THEM.

Marquez Bakery does have good mexican food. But, Ive had several bad experiences with their customer service . An example: just last Saturday(1-14-2017) my cousin and I went there to eat dinner. We arrived at exactly 7:22pm, and when we tried to order our food we were told the only way they would serve us is if we took our food "to go" because they were closing at 8pm and had already completed their final cleaning of the day for the dining area. This is very unusuaI in the restaurant business. So, I asked if this was Marquez Bakerys policy, and the young woman replied "yes, it is" in a manner that felt as if she was wanting us to leave the restaurant. That is exactly what we did...we left. And, looking back on the experience, I may never return.

A friend & I decided to drop by & if your looking for customer service dont look for it here. No eye contact no smiles dont expect that. The 2nd thing I noticed is that there was absolutely no noise in the kitchen. That is very strange to me seeing this is a restaurant. We sat down after ordering food came out within 5 mins not hot food though warm though. I figured out that they cook this food possibly at home & sit it in a hot box & serve you food they probably cooked this morning. The rice was good thats why they got 2 stars. They dont have queso (gasp) & the enchalidas were falling apart. My daddy makes better enchalidas & hes black. I think its time to have weekly staff meetings and make some noise in the kitchen & cook people food fresh.

This was my first time eating their Mexican cuisine--Ive had their cakes before and they are delicious. But the food is even better. My uncle and his family is from the Dominican Republic so I know what the American version of Latin foods tastes like versus authentic Latin foods. And they passed with flying colors. You definitely get your moneys worth here. And the pastries are large, beautiful, tasty and CHEAP. I got 3 large ones for $1.65. You cant beat that. And it wasnt very crowded for a lunch spot (got there around 1 and there were maybe three other tables occupied). Will DEFINITELY dine there again...and soon!

We lived in Grand Prairie for several years. Always ate there, always enjoyed their menudo, barbacoa, and sweet bread. We moved but occasionally when we miss their food will drive an hour to eat there. At Christmas, although making tamales was a family tradition, its TOO MUCH WORK! lol So instead we order several dozen from them for Christmas dinner. At $8.99 a dozen, they are still reasonably priced. We now live in Terrell where tamales start at $13.00 a dozen and you never know what you are going to get!

Misleading on their food description, ordered two burritos and received two tacos, I must admit that they food is very good. Also, on the customer service side they are a bit cold towards customers as if they dont want you to eat there, and are very slow. Marquez Bakery and restaurant could improve in service and food menu(you order at the front cash register and order from menu without pictures on the wall, ,thats why the misleading on food)

HORRIBLE BUSINESS. I reserved chicken tamales and when I got there they claimed they were out because they screwed up and would not give me the chicken tamales I ordered. Then they made me pay for the other food I ordered, when I should have been fully refunded for the huge inconvenience. Shouldve gone to McDonalds instead; wouldve got better food there, too. Id rate Marquez zero stars if I could.

Nothing to get excited about. Food was cold, less than average Mexican food, carbonation was out in the soda fountain and staff was not very enthusiastic. I think my white husband can make better Mexican food than they serve. Was very disappointed. Would not recommend eating there. Their pan dulce was actually good though. Ill give them that.

When I left the Rio Grande Valley to take a job in North Texas I felt one of the major sacrifices I would be making was leaving behind the best Tex-Mex food anywhere in the state. Ive been impressed with Marquez so far. Their pastries can compete, but the best is the Tres Leches Cake. Youve got to have some if you havent tried it before.

Ive never been to the restaurant but I recently purchased they flour tortillas at Walmart and they molded very quick so if u at Walmart dont purchase they flour tortillas because they will not last long Ill stick to mission tortillas and the other name brand ones .... so much for supporting local bakeries very unpleasant experience

Authentic and homemade are the two qualities that come to mind with this place. Truly a one of a kind everything is delicious whether its from the bakery or the kitchen. They make custom cakes that taste as good as they look and their breakfast is amazing. Try the barbocoa and eggs, itll change your life!
