The only thing that wasnt disappointing was the heavy paper bag they put my to go box in. The ribs were tough, room temperature, and had hardly any smoke flavor at all. The turnip greens were canned and more like the consistency of overboiled spinach, and the white beans -- also canned -- were only moderately good. For $15.00 I expected more than 3 ribs. And they didnt even give me a napkin or paper towels. If you want good ribs, visit Peg Leg Porker. If you want good brisket, go to Jacks. If you want delicious home made sides, try Edleys. If you want something different but good, go to Martins. If you want a disappointing meal (but a nice afternoon at Centennial Park) try this place.

I met someone on a plane from Connecticut who raved about this place. They must not do much BBQ up there. The first time I go to a BBQ joint I get the ribs--they are my standard. They were flavorless. Whatever flavor that was there must have been boiled out of them. No woodsy-smoke taste at all. The best that can be said about the hot BBQ sauce is that it was tangy. There are so many other great BBQ places in Nashville, so I cannot understand how this joint got a City Best in 2008. It is close to Vanderbilt, so maybe a lot of students who cannot get to the really good BBQ vote for this one.

Hog Heaven is literally a shack enclosed with chicken wire, almost like a chicken coop, with a window where you place your order and a few picnic tables for seating. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich which came out on a regular hamburger bun. There were large chunks of pulled pork in this sandwich which were awesome. The barbecue was dry, so you had to add sauce yourself. Hog Heaven has a white barbecue sauce which was creamy and somewhat tangy. It gave the pulled pork a great flavor that was slightly different from what you’d get at someplace like Hill Country Barbecue here in New York City.

The pulled pork was good but it just didnt have depth in the flavor. The BBQ sauce is vinegar based but unfortunately Ive lived in KC and TX so it wasnt to my liking. It seems like a good quick lunch spot but there is not indoor seating and a lot flies bothering me. The cornbread is done like a smaller pancake which seems like a novelty. Too bad it didnt taste great. I may try this place again for the sandwich with coleslaw but with so many other options...

If you are thinking about having BBQ for a wedding, then you need to have Hog Heaven do it. They did amazing for our wedding last September and all of our guests were very pleased with the food. They set up everything and made the meal amazing!! You may be worried that BBQ for a wedding may not be the classy way to go, but your guests want to eat and they want to eat good food. You cannot go wrong with Hog Heaven. Thank you!!!!!

I think their pulled pork is better than any in town, even the fancier (and very good!) places in 12s and Green Hills. This isnt a restaurant... Its a place to get great BBQ. Its the definition of a great hole-in-the-wall... If I didnt know it was awesome, I wouldnt walk into this place, let alone order food. But its perfectly awesome. I have to fight the urge for BBQ every time I go to Centennial Park.

Im a BBQ maniac and Hog Heaven is a MUST when Im visiting the park. I love the fast window service and that tangy WHITE SAUCE on my pork sandwich. I think they use it in the Cole Slaw too because Its got that zip I love and cant find anywhere else. Im not such a fan of the 1/2 chickens or Ribs. I go to Hog Heaven for the HOG! My only complaint is they close a little early. so if you want dinner go early!

Dont believe the hype, its overpriced and nothing special. In fact, there was garbage everywhere on the ground And it was pretty obvious the staff was burnt out. Service was mediocre and food was bland. Coleslaw was bland and watery. sauces werent anything special special either. pulled pork was average, cooked fine but no flavor. Try famous Daves or Martins, I wish I would have.

Im a dive kinda guy and this place fits the bill. It should be on the TV show "diners and dives". Anyway. I ate there for lunch yesterday -got chicken sandwich and Im going back today weather permitting. Sandwich was good.. I like their white sauce. Improvements - they need a hot sauce. And I wish macdonalds would cut them a break and move their dumpster! but not their fault.

Not good. I may be a bbq snob, but this was terrible. Meat was watery and cold. Beans tasted canned with added pepper. Potato salad was ok, but extremely mayonaisy. Im also fine with a dive type place, but you could at least pick up the trash and wipe the stuck on bbq sauce off of the table. We paid almost $30 for 2 plates and a sandwich. I wouldnt recommend it.

I got the hot barbecue it was kinda plain. I like smoked BBQ really this one really didnt have very much flavor to it. I also got a side order of green it wasnt very good. It needed something, a turkey leg or something like to give it flavor. I may try it again for a different item to see if its better but I wasnt impressed with what I got.

Worst BBQ chicken I have ever had. Dry, over cooked, and no sauce at all! I just moved here from NYC and honestly they do it better in NYC! Unbelievable how badly this tasted. I took one bite and threw it in the trash. We I did take out, but if I had been dining in, i would have demanded my money back.

I would happily give this place a better rating were it not for the guy who took my order. Ive been treated rudely before and dont think anything of it but this guy seemed to enjoy being an a-hole. Probably wont visit for a while even though I enjoy their food. Ive had him the last 2-3 times Ive been.

It doesnt get much better than this as far as BBQ goes. Theres no atmosphere and negligible service, but the white sauce is undeniably delicious. Dont miss the BBQ pickle spears, either. My advice is to plan on a nap afterwards. The best way to enjoy barbecue is with a food coma.

We recently hosted a family reunion, and Hog Heaven came through with the greatest foods!! We had never catered an event, but were very relaxed once we called Hog Heaven. Everything arrived just as we planned!! We will cut to the chase next time and call them first!!

Went there for lunch on Saturday. Instant service, large portions, and great tasting. I had the pork, my wife the beef, and both were great.. Cold slaw and mashed potatoes were also perfectly done. Since they do not use any wheat fillers it was all gluten free.

Great place to walk to from Centennial park. There is not a lot of seating and it is all outdoors but i like the idea of picking up lunch and heading back to the park for a picnic. The food is pricey but worth every penny.
