When I was visiting Tennessee this was at the top of my list of places to eat as I saw it ranking at number 2 on a show that highlighted the best diners in the United States. We ended up eating here four times during the week we were here simply because no where else measured up. The only complaint I have is they arent opened for dinner. Anyway the food..my goodness where do I start? Now I am not a breakfast person at all. Give me a slice of pizza or some chinese food and I will happily eat that with my morning coffee at 8am. Arcade made me a convert for sure. Sweet potato pancakes..thats all I have to say. They are out of this world. They are huge and just fluffy and delicious and just a plate of happiness. The days I wanted to try something else(only visiting remember) I always got an order of these to go. The pizzas were surprisingly delicious. I was a little bit incredulous about how good diner pizza in Tennesse could be, I am glad I was proved wrong..the buffalo chicken pizza was a home run for sure. I cant stand when the chicken is drowning in buffalo sauce and you cant taste anything but the sauce..this pizza had the perfect ratio of sauce to chicken. The grilled ham and cheese was another memorable item on the list..a lot of people say how can you screw up grilled cheese? Believe me you can. The buttery goodness and gooey cheese just melts in your mouth and the ham gives it enough flavor to make the dish not boring but wasnt too overbearing either. My brother the peanut butter fan went for Elviss favorite..the grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich. Not my cup of tea..but he got it 3 out of our 4 visits here..nothing but good things he had to say. Overall if you are looking for a good place to eat with friendly staff, Arcade is the place to be. I really am lost without it now that I am home and Im thinking of taking another trip to Tennessee just so I can eat there!

This was my first visit here. I went around lunchtime and they had a bit of a crowd, but nothing too crazy. Upon walking in I was NOT acknowledged. I stood in the middle of the entry area waiting for a waitress to be seated for over five minutes before another family walked in and the cashier asked were they dining in and how many in their party. I immediately told her I only have 1 person and that I had been waiting almost 10MINS. I should have walked out then. I told her that I would just sit at the bar because there was an open seat. Once at the bar, the waitress there took another 5mins to acknowledge me again, but I sat patiently. After 8 mins she finally gave me a menu, and didnt even get my drink order. after leaving me to look at the menu, she took another 10 mins to get back to me. During this time I saw her serve 1 other person and a group IMMEDIATELY after they came in. they were seated and had there drinks! By this time Im pissed. At this time Im here for 30mins and nothing to drink, thirsty as hell and still NO ORDER TAKEN. she finally came around and asked was I ready to order. I told her I only wanted Water and placed my order. After another 11MINS of waiting, my order came out but I did not stay. I asked for a carry out from another waitress and packed my food to leave. The waitress I had finally turned to me and said, "I thought you were dining in?" Its funny how she remembered that but couldnt remember to take my order or bring my beverage! I told her Im leaving, and that I still hadnt even gotten anything to drink. And I left...worst service ever! I guess thats how racism feels! I was ignored, and half assed serviced while other people were immediately seen and services. She passed me several times and seen I had nothing to drink and no menu no order!. The food was OK overall, not even worth the wait. But I WILL NOT BE dining here again!

Put in an order before I got to the restaurant because I was in a rush, and I still had to wait 30 mins to get my food after I got there. I explain to our servers that we were in a time crunch. The service was bad. Had to wait 10 mins for the waitress to take my drink order. And I never got a refill and we were sitting at the bar/counter. When our food finally came out, the eggs were cold, grits were bland and runny, bacon was greasy, and the sweet potatoe pancakes were too sweet. When we told the servers that the food was cold they offered to remake it but we were already running late because of their slow service, we only wanted a sincere apology and for them to take the eggs off which we didnt touch. The management refused. We even complained to the owner who scoffed and walked off from us. Rude!! Even after all that we still paid our full bill, leaving the money on the table and walking out, and then a server ran after us assuming that we didnt pay without even looking at the table! This place is racist and rude. All the servers working here are white, they only employ black people in their kitchen. The owner obviously didnt care about my business because I was black. I will never go to this place again and I will encourage all that I know never to darken their doors again. There is much better food and service available in Memphis.

Went to Memphis for a weekend trip. Upon a recommendation from the hotel staff we tried this restaurant. It was not good. I get that this place is historical, old and has been visited by a lot of famous people. There are some interesting details about the physical facility but... thats not enough to make me like a crappy meal and bad service. We sat at the counter for about 15 minutes before anyone ever greeted us. Then it took another 30 minutes for our food to come out. On top of that it arrived cold and was actually rather nasty anyway. The eggs were under-cooked, cold and had a really bizarre taste. I had one bite and quit eating them. The country fried steak.. again bland and cold. Probably a frozen patty. The hashBROWNS should have been called hashWHITES. They were beyond under cooked. They were basically raw. The biscuits were weird and hard and again, you guessed it, cold. Im really pretty curious why my food took SOOOO long when it was all under-cooked and cold like it had been sitting there forever. No, I would not recommend this restaurant and I will not ever return. If you do want to see it, just pop in for a beer or something and eat somewhere else. (Honestly Waffle House is much better.. and those kinda suck)

I had the displeasure of eating at this restaurant! Having to wait for a table while was the just the beginning. The service was flat out awful. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad with no onions, a bacon cheeseburger and a grilled cheese for a six year old. After a 50 minute wait of with people actively cashing out with no more people coming in because they close at 3 we received food. The grilled cheese and the salad arrived, but no burger (she said two more minutes) The plate with the grilled cheese was served on a plate that was scolding hot and placed in front of the child. The plate was still burning hot ten minutes later. The Burger finally arrives about ten minutes later. My salad consisted of tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and of course chicken. Apparently a salad consists of three ingredients? Only one time were we asked if we needed more to drink in all the 50 minutes. Plus one of my tomatoes had an entire rind on it. A separate waitress asked us as we were getting if we had already paid.... Seriously? The hot plate given to the child is insane! It had grilled cheese and fries on it! Open since 1919 based on a miracle!
