First time at the Pizza Cafe, came down for a nice little vacation with my boyfriend. Heard that this was one of the places to try for sure. Walked in and was greeted with a "sit anywhere you like" only to be told we could not sit at the one of the only three tables remaining. Found that a bit odd, but moved to a different table. The table was soaked with water that wreaked of bleach. We sat for a moment without being noticed. Only to have our salty waitress finally approach us. Ordered our drinks and discussed what pizza we wanted to try. We decided to go with the 16 inch buffalo chicken. Boyfriend accidentally asked for the 15 inch and Mrs. Salty had the audacity to snap back rudely that its 16, not 15. We looked at each other and just let it go. Wasnt going to let that ruin the night. While we were waiting for the pizza to finish up the waitress came by with two plates which she dropped on the edge of the table and walked away. At that point my boyfriend was getting ticked. Id be lying if I said I wasnt feeling the same. The Pizza came out shortly after, to where we ate it while being completely ignored. Werent checked on to see if everything was alright or if we needed anything. Dont get me wrong, the Pizza was freaking amazing. But if youre looking for a warm welcome and employees who care you might as well go somewhere else. I understand that people have their days, but there were way too many instances on our first time for us to care.

Sometimes, the best gifts are wrapped the worst. As is the case in Memphis, the best restaurants sometimes appear to be holes in the wall. MPC is no exception. But the restaurant atmosphere here at this particular store is so laid back and relaxed, youll feel right at home the moment you walk up the back porch. Try sitting out on the porch by the way if youre here in the fall. The weather is AWESOME and youll have a great experience. You dont have to be a vegetarian to really dig the vegetarian pizza at MPC. Im meat and potatoes until I go to this place and then its all about veggies. Lastly, the cross between the downtown preppy and the carefree hippie scene is awesome if youre a people watcher. Even if youre not, you wont be bothered. But if you are... youll enjoy this place all the more!!! HIGH marks for MPC! Oh! The food is fantastic. :-)

This is one of my absolute favorite pizza places in Memphis. I think we tend to underestimate the impact of Memphis delicious aquifer water on the quality of our pizza crust. LOL I always order the thin-crusted pizza and I just love the crunch of their crust along the wide edge of the pizza. The flavor of the pizza is never too bland and never too salty. Its always just right. I love how they properly chop all of their toppings into prefect, bite-sized pieces. I havent even gotten to the price yet. Its amazing to me that this pizza is so reasonable. With Overton Square now bustling, the parking situation is a little harder these days, but Memphis Pizza Cafe was there before the revival of this entertainment district and it will likely outlast any potential downturns. Im a Memphis Pizza Cafe fan for life!

I am going to qualify this a tad... I have heard the quality varies by location so I am going to stick to the Midtown (madison) Location. By far the best Pizza place in Memphis. The alternative Pizza is stellar. To be sure though this is a specific kind of pizza. It is thin crust... so if you are wanting what I would consider a soggy wad of dough this place is not for you... the atmosphere is Midtown... not a great place for a romantic date. The variations of ingredients available definitely allow for a depth of flexibility. When I want Pizza this is where I go. (subs are ok... but then again this is a Pizza Place)

About once a week, my family gets take-out from Pizza Cafe. We always get BBQ chicken pizza (no exceptions) and I eat four or more pieces that night!! My sister is a vegetarian, so we get her and my 2 year-old brother two individual slices of cheese pizza. My parents and I always split a chef salad too! I always love to go to pick up the pizza because the atmosphere in the restaurant is so elaborate!!! And I almost always see someone I know there! This is my number one place to get pizza!!

As you can see, I rated this place five stars, and instead of telling you the typical things like "the food is good" Im going to delve a little deeper. The story behind this place is inspiring and totally a local wonder. The place has charm and character, and, of course, because it has five stars, the food and service are wonderful. Its a great place to meet up with someone, and its a great place to eat. You can even call ahead and pick up your pizza. -blasianFMA

Very good pizza. The pizza is on the crispy side as far as crust goes so beware if that isnt your thing. The pizza can be ordered by slice or by the pie. Freshly made to order pizza. They recently remodeled this location and it looks really nice. Love the atmosphere. Its located near many attractions. If you love pizza Id recommend this place highly. However, they also have salads and subs. My favorite items are the Hey Meat! pizza and the Ultimate Cheese.

Okay first off I want to say that I like being in the Memphis Pizza Cafe and frequently go there to drink beer, have a calzone, and shoot the bull with friends. However, the pizza is absolutely horrendous. MEMPHIS WAKE UP, that is NOT pizza!! It makes the us as citizens of the city look really stupid that we constantly vote it as the best pizza place we have. They really need to rethink their recipe.

1 star for pretty good service and a great atmosphere. 1 star for good beer on tap and decent food other than their pizza. Now about their "pizza"... Did you ever make pizza on crackers as a kid? Thats about what this is like. Their crust is dry and tasteless. Its thin, which isnt a problem in and of itself but in the case that just completes the resemblance of their crust to a matzo cracker.

The pizza is tasty and thin to give u nice crunch. I love the ambiance. Some of the decor needs a little updating though like the cushion on booths but other than that we always enjoy our food and ourselves. The Greek salad, veggie pizza, garlic chicken pizza with added pepperoni( special taste) are a must try!!

LOVE the pizza here. You can smell the pizza from outside. The salads are great as well. If you have had a bad day or its raining outside, go by and pick up a calzone to take home with you. You will not be sorry. I have taken family who were visiting Memphis here and they loved it. This is the place for pizza!

The kids asked for a second order on the cheese sticks and that was after having a slice of pizza cheese pizza each. The BBQ chicken was really good and the Garlic Chicken was amazing. Decided to try the Apple Streusel Pizza and it was delicious as well. Definitely coming back...
