Wife and I just went for the first time. It was obvious they have a loyal following and dedicated crowd, and they did a brisk trade all night. The main sushi chef greeted many by name, and knew many others on site. Many people recognized him and stopped and talked as well. Constantly people were being greeted as if old friends. Atmosphere was very cozy. Not many seats. Apparently this is closer to traditional Japanese, but I cant judge that. When we arrived, though the place was only 1/2 full, we were asked if we had reservations, and we could hear some discussion about whether we would be done in time to accommodate the "regular reservations." It was all an indicator about the regular crowd and popularity of the place. I took it as a good sign, especially considering this was a Tuesday at 5:30 pm. The prices are on par with the area, and the quality was great. I will say the rolls are a little on the small side, but we were very hungry, so I could have been biased. There arent many rolls like you would see in any other American style sushi place, such as Irashai or Tsunami (both in greenville as well), the the Nigiri was top notch, and the prices were comparable. I think we ate more than our normal, and paid less than we would have at other places in town, and certainly less than the downtown places. I am sure my wife and I will go here for sushi regularly, and make it into our rotation.

My fiance and I love to come here. On a Friday or Saturday, you may have to wait 15 to 30 minutes, so make a reservation. Its a very traditional atmosphere. Everything is very small but super cozy and relaxing. Love everything Ive ever eaten there. The tuna rolls are delicious and my favorite thing there is the Icki Salad aka Squid salad. I know it doesnt sound good but give it a try and you will be super thankful you did. The salad is atop a bowl of cucumbers with little sweet and a little salty. Perfect start to a meal with of course a big bowl of Edamame to share:)

The staff is very friendly. My biggest issue is they put wasabi on every sushi roll I ordered. This was my first visit there and every other place I have ever ordered sushi did not put wasabi on the actual roll. Wasabi was even inside the cucumber roll. Wasabi was not listed as an ingredient in any of the rolls I ordered of the menu. The soup was extremely strong also. I paid $15 for a sushi dinner entree and left still hungry and with the bitter taste of wasabi stuck in my mouth. Overall it was a poor experience and I wont be returning.

Just called to place an order to go was told they are too busy to make my order. Was told call back in 30 or 40 minutes but no gaurantees lol. I have worked in restaurants i have even owned a restaurant. I own a business now. That is no way to run a restaurant tell me its going to be a long time before my order is ready maybe i think its worth the wait. But you obviously dont think i am worth the order. So i will never call or come to your restaurant ever. So no worries on my order.

Small cozy place off the beaten path. Prices are decent, ramen noodles were really good, sushi was more authentic than some of the other places in Greenville. Sushi menu was small but they were more than happy to make any additions requested and allowed my friend to build her own roll. Like a previous reviewer noted, the hall to the restrooms was not clean, and you can see into the kitchen from this area which concerned me about the cleanliness.

This is the best sushi place Ive tried in the Carolinas. I had two rolls. One had raw scallops and the scallops were sweet and fresh and so very good. The people there are pleasant and appear happy to greet any new guests to the restaurant. It looked like a hole in the wall place and I was hesitant upon driving up, but Im so glad I went in. This will surely be a stop for me in the future.

Been eating there since they opened.. Over 20 years ago.. Never a bad meal.. Always very *fresh*.. More selections than other Sushi restaurants in SC and GA! Also very traditional atmosphere.. Including Japanese music and satellite TV for Sumo wrestling.. Recommend you arrive as early as possible.. Seats are filled up quick.. Wish I could eat there every day!

Warm and cozy interior with a friendly and attentive wait staff. Great prices and good serving sizes. The hall leading to the bathrooms was not clean. Considering it connected to the kitchen, it made me reconsider my sushi order. The sushi rice seemed underseasoned and the fish lacked that fresh "pop" but the soba broth was nice and earthy.

This is the best Sushi Restaurant in South Carolina, if not the southeast. My wife and I have had Sushi everywhere from Atlata to Birmingham, Hilton Head to Charleston, and Wilmington to Washington, D.C.. We have found none better! Just order the Chefs choice and ask Shimo for his suggestions. Youll not be disappointed. Delicious!!!!!

Best sushi Ive ever eaten. Really delicious, and the menu has lots of offer other than sushi. I would go so far to say Sushi Masa serves the best food in Greenville. Dont come if you dont have a little time to wait. The service can be quite slow. Its hard to be upset about it though, all the servers are very nice and helpful.

Excellent sushi and a very authentic atmosphere. Upon entering the restaurant, you immediately forget your surroundings and feel like youve stepped into a feudal-era Japanese tea house. The food is delicious and the staff is immaculately polite. Only take a first date to Sushi Masa if you want them to fall in love with you.

My favorite sushi place in the upstate. Been coming here for over 10 years and the proprietor introduced me to what sushi should really taste and look like. I visited Japan in 2016 and Sushi Masa has the authentic look and feel of a small sushi bar you could find anywhere in the crowded, narrow streets of Tokyo.

Dont waste.your money. Uniagi roll tasted awful. Couldnt even eat it. Spicy tuna roll had NOTHING in it except for fishy tuna, but the worst part is, I think there was a worm in my salad. I compared it to a piece of red cabbage, but it still looked like a worm. I think Ill just eat wheat thins for dinner.

I think that they underestimated their Monday night. Service was not great, our beers arrived after our sushi and it took 20 minutes just to get our order taken. The food was a little lackluster considering all of our friends suggest it. Sadly, it did not live up to the hype this time.

I really enjoy this place: Sushis are made by a Japanese chef, and are really good. Ive been impressed by the freshness of the fish, and the sushis quickly melts in the mouth, as expected. My only regret with this place is that they dont have plum wine (umeshu), but thats not a big deal.
