Goatfeathers has been a favorite of mine for over a decade. This little bar with big character offers a stark contrast to the normal 5 Points crowd. Its a dark, swank bar with quilted wood ceilings, low lighting, music to match the mood, and a huge round table in the center. It is a fantastic place for any type of conversation, whether its at the large round table with a great brew and strangers that are always interesting, or at a booth with a date nibbling on dessert and sipping on coffee. The food is excellent. It isnt fine dining, but you get a lot for the money, and it is tasty. They also have great happy hour specials on their food. There have been many Saturday nights that have started there over lightly breaded chicken breast over linguini in a basil cream sauce and a glass of wine. The bartenders - Opie, at least - are great. The servers can be fairly poor. Theyre not bad, but some of them in the past have had an apathetic attitude towards actually serving people. If there is one drawback, it is the servers. They could do better. That is a minor complaint really. You dont go there for the service. You go there for ambiance and the atmosphere. There isnt another place in Columbia like it. There isnt another place anywhere that Ive been thats like it.

WORST SERVICE EVER. Karina was our server and ruined our evening. First off, if you dont want to write our order down, dont come to us asking what we had to drink, its really not that hard...Ive been a server for four years and I was appalled at the way Karina and her manager handled the situation. This would never be acceptable in any restaurant Ive worked in. After handing us the checks (which were absolutely wrong) she took them back and added gratuity on them for a party of five (who does that?!) and gave them to us. And when we complained to the manager the server butted in and argued with the customer. Afterwards the manager continued to make the situation worse by arguing with us. NO, we were not a crazy drunk group of people. We were not rowdy and wasted. I am never going back and will tell anyone who wants to listen to never go there. The decent drinks are not worth the horrible service Karina gives. No wonder they were dead on a Friday night in one of the busiest drinking areas of Columbia.

I ate there twice. First time I ordered the special which was shrimp enchiladas. As soon as they brought me my food, I could smell an iodine scent and when I tasted the shrimp it was horrible. I said I would never go back, but a friend of mine convinced me to give it another try. We went with a group of 10 people and again I ordered the special. It was a steak over greens and mashed potatoes. Everyone else got their food but me and came to find out the waitress forgot to place my order. When I finally got my meal, everyone else was done with theirs and it tasted like a tv dinner. No flavor, bland and tasteless. I have read the other reviews and I have several friends that love this place. However, I have not been happy with the food or service and will not go back.

I have not eaten here but, the wine and atmosphere were really great every time I went. They hosted a wine tasting which was absolutely fun, I hear there is a beer tasting night as well. Great for a group of friends or co-workers to go and relax after work or enjoy a Saturday night around the table. The manager was extremely pleasant and made sure to come over and say hello/ask how we were doing and stayed to listen to our responses.Will definitely be back when I visit Columbia again!

I have been going to goatfeathers for for over 5 years now. I always sit at the bar, and the bartender is half the reason I keep going. I always get great service. I like there selection of drinks and there cheese cake is the best Ive found in town. Not to mention they have pretty fast wifi so I always bring in my ipad. Goatfeathers is just a great place for me to chill and relax after a long day. Its an A+ for me!

Great happy hour specials (40% off), very interesting atmosphere, good music and good food with a wide variety of options..... Service is friendly (in their own way) but notoriously slow. The usual bartender and manager (OP) is very nice and offers a lot of great drink options... If you are in a hurry, dont visit. Great place for a first date or a pre-dinner drink. Also really good deserts.

Once loved the place. My last visit there was absolutely wretched. The waitress was awkward, clueless, and waited twenty minutes to take our order only to tell us they were literally out of about 80% of the menu. It was so bad it was actually funny. I dont know what happened to the place, but its not like it used to be.

I like the dimmed lighting, the booth, bottles and art all around. Service was great. The Philly cheese steak sandwich was insanely delicious as was the fries with duck. We were on a road trip so couldnt enjoy the the drinks. Id love to stay for several on our next visit!

Great bar, wonderful eccentric decor. Strange and awesome specials, such as 5% off if you pay in cash, and rotating 33% off specials that change daily. Also $5 pitcher of house beer. I will definitely be visiting again.

Columbia wouldnt be the same city without Goatfeathers. Love this place and their happy hour is...um... off the chain. Seriously. Great food. Great drinks. Great music, staff, and atmosphere.

The ambiance is nice, and the prices are reasonable, especially on Sundays. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and a raspberry cheesecake... both were awesome!
