My husband and I went to Breakwater for our 3yr wedding anniversary on 3/14/17. My honest opinion, the place is way over priced. The food is not that great for the price that theyre asking. I had the shrimp and fried rice. I decided to get the small portion as the waiter intended it would fill you up and sure enough when it came I was disappointed. It was enough food for a young child to eat not an adult. So of course I was still very hungry. The shrimp didnt have much flavor. My husband order the New York strip and that by far had to be the worst steak we have ever tried. There was no flavor is was very bland and we paid $32 for that.... we had our 1 yr old with us as well as our newborn. We were disappointed when we were told there was no kids menu but they had kid highchairs. So for our daughter we ordered the BBQ pork belly only because it came with Mac &cheese which our daughter loves. There was nothing special about the pork belly. It was very char and burnt at the bottom which was highly disappointing. We will not be going here ever again. On top of all of that, theres no parking/ not nearly enough.

Recently took our two adult children to dinner on Dec. 26. The food was good to great but a few improvements should be considered for us to return again. First is noise control - although the new restaurant looks very well designed you need to consult noise control specialist to reduce the noise level. We recognize that the restaurant was almost full on this Saturday night but we had a hard time having a normal conversation between the four of us. Second you need to add more soup options (other than just seafood) to your line up and some specials. The waitress explained that you had not yet added any specials since you just recently opened up but we say that as a poor reason to not have some specials. If the noise level doesnt improve we probably will not return. We live in the area and dine out fairly frequently but we like restaurants that support good conversation without yelling to each other.

Breakwater was my favorite when we first found Beaufort in the early about 10 yrs ago. Great bartenders and tasty nosh small plates that could be shared with friends. When did the portion sizes get so much smaller and the prices get so much higher? $17 for 2 scallops and a scoop of risotto on the other side of the plate. Nice wine selections.

Great relaxing evening with excellent food and service. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Beaufort! Everything we have tried on the menu from meatloaf to mahi is so delicious!! In addition, the calamari is the best ever!

Well prepared and delicious food. Over priced with small portions. $28 for 8 oz pork shoulder, greens, & grits. Atmosphere is cold & distant. It may be right up some people alley, but it aint for me.

Pricey, up-scale, yet unremarkable. Still good but over-rated. Out of oysters at 9 pm. Portions small. 2 tapas, 1 entree, 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine $75 plus tip.
