Ive had their delicious BBQ twice now and highly recommend them if you are in the area. My first experience was at work when they supplied the food and another as take out. When we had the catering at the office everything was delicious and fall off the bone spot on. The reviews around the office were spectacular. Many people, myself included, took leftovers of the sauce home with them as they supplied way more than was needed. I am still enjoying doing my own BBQ chicken at home with the sauce. I can highly suggest getting catering through Sweet Cheeks as they wont disappoint. For our Take Away experience overall everything went just fine from ordering to speed of service. While we waited we sat at the bar and had a pint of beer. The bartender wasnt as quick to be able to answer questions about the beers they had on tap, but did offer some small samples to help me determine what I wanted. I wouldnt say the food was delicious as my initial experience at the office, but BBQ restaurants by the nature of the food is slow cooked ahead of time for many hours and the reheated at service is going to have some variation. I was still happy and happily devoured all the food in front of me. I only give this 4 stars for the beer service and Ive had better BBQ before. For Boston though this is probably some of the best you can get. I lived in the South for a few years and ate at multiple BBQ joints. Even the best of them are going to have some off days depending who is working the back.

How many people would believe you if you tell them that youve had some quality Texan BBQ while in Boston? Ill confess to being a bit of skeptic when I sat down with my sister at Sweet Cheeks Q. Opened by a former Top Chef contestant, my older sister, who had been before, assured me that I was in good hands. For those of you who havent been, Sweet Cheeks menu is structured a bit different. You can pick what foods will make up your entire order. However, take note: the portions are generous and very decadent. You will be very full in no time. Bertween the two of us, we ordered biscuits, mac and cheese, broccoli casserole, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. Both meats were tender and savory; full of flavor and well-cooked. The biscuits were almost too good. Soft, warm, and fresh, they were kind of on the heavy side and we probably should have just ordered them to go, or not at all. Even so, YOLO. Our two sides were exactly what they would hope they would be and more. Cheesy and decadent. We both almost regretted getting anything else because we ended up too full to really enjoy our sides by the time we got to them. If you havent been and are a fan of BBQ, Sweet Cheeks Q is a great spot for you. Also if you have family in town that wants to check out a proud Boston staple. Will say that due to its proximity to Fenway, steer clear of the area whenever the Soxs are in town. This place will be crammed packed.

My experience with Sweet Cheeks was a mixed bag. On one hand, I got dealt an unfair hand, on the other, the food was so exceptional, I was able to forgive, forget and start salivating for more. The primary issues were (to be quick) that 1.) the wait for a table was an hour longer than stated (no problem since we got some space at the bar to wait) 2.) The second issue was that the bartender gave my debit card to a stranger. Fortunately, the restaurant manager made the situation right by comping us our entire meal (wow!) for the inconvenience of me having to cancel my debit card. Now, lets talk about the food. The food saved the day! Despite the mix-up, I would totally eat here again and again. The biscuits were so fluffy, buttery and wonderful I thought that I was in the South again. The fried chicken was unbelievable; juicy and crispy. The brisket — oh my goodness the brisket — flavorful and tender. However, be warned, on a Friday night this spot is busy. Go with that in mind and dont open a tab at the bar, and you will do just fine.

Great BBQ for such an urban location. The food was amazing, everything was very tasty and cooked correctly. I did have the great opportunity of being with a large group so we ordered "The Big Rack" so we got to have almost everything on the menu and I must say that there was nothing there that you will be disappointed with, the short rib was nothing short of amazing (get it?). The service was great with the servers always topping off the water and checking in from time to time. The owner/chef Tiffani was also very pleasant and friendly and made it a point to stop and chat with our table a couple of times. The drinks were good, but different, maybe a little too different for my taste. I would have to say that my only complaint for the evening was that having ordered the meal that comes family style, nothing came with serving spoons or forks, that was a bit of a hassle. The location is great, right in the Fenway area, as for parking, good luck. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

This place needs a lot of work. Service is really really bad. There seems to be something fundamentally wrong with the way they cook the food here. If you are familiar with a real BBQ place you will taste it immediately. I had ribs and brisket here. The brisket tasted like salty chemical smoke. Ribs were off tasting and just not done right super tough. How do you make ribs tough? Im a fan of dry BBQ but if youre going to go that route than make sure you can do it well. If you want to go sauce then do something better than the ketchup, hot sauce, and bottled vinegar that they say are house made bbq sauces. Absurd. If this is house made then you need to use someone elses house. Everything is ridiculously overpriced from platters to drinks. The reason it gets 2 stars is for the cocktails. Actually done very well. Point is if you like BBQ i would stay away because this place will make you sad. I guess if youre looking for BBQ in new england though you should not have high expectations.

If youre looking for good barbecue in the Boston area, go here! Dont waste time on Redbones or other area joints. Where the other area BBQ restaurants Ive tried since moving a year ago all feel like transplanted, imitation-at-best takes on all of the states various BBQ styles mashed together, Sweet Cheeks is a distinctive experience: - As other reviews note, the biscuits are out of this world. Not optional. These alone are a reason to go. - Atypical of a good BBQ restaurant, the cocktails are very tasty (and, for bonus points, are served in mason jars) - The cue itself is tasty, with a recommendation toward brisket. Native Texans, North Carolinians, Georgians, etc. may find that the meat doesnt quite stack up to what youll find in the BBQ Belt, but this is at or above every other Boston BBQ restaurants quality and is more reasonably priced than most. I hesitated to write this review for fear it may add to my wait time, but the place deserves it. Highly recommended!
