Ive been eating there for over 15 years. I used to rave about the place but it has gone steadily downhill. There is a decent selection of food but sometimes its good and other times it is not...must depend on whos cooking. The service used to be great. The waitresses had smiles on their faces and said hello. Now, they dont smile, they talk about customers in front of other customers and more. I went there about 3 months ago about 4am in the morning. I was seated promptly and there were maybe 4-5 tables filled...the place was practically empty. The waitress who was supposed to take my order kept talking to her friends who were seated 2 booths away and ignored me. The other waitresses looked at each other for awhile and finally one of them took my order. After I was served, the condiments were taken away but none replace so I could use them. I wasnt even asked if I wanted anything else or if my meal was ok when I was served the check. Of course, there was no tip and they were not happy about it. Today, a different waitress served us (shes been there for a long time) but didnt say hello and just asked if we wanted anything to drink. When she took our order, she was very somber, almost catatonic. Five minutes after we were served our food, we were handed the check. We werent even asked if the food was OK or if we wanted anything else. As soon as it looked like we were finished eating she walked over and started taking our plates and asked if there was something else we wanted. Of course, we said no. We were made to feel like we were not wanted there and we will not be going back. Ive heard several different conversations by people that I did not know saying how bad the service was getting over the last year or so. They also said they were not going back. Skip this place and eat elsewhere.

Went in for lunch 8/6/17. Staff was friendly but not the most attentive. Wife ordered water no ice, got ice water with lemon, not a big deal but then we went to the salad bar and came back and our table was cleared. Full Waters, clean napkins and flatware, all gone. Still not a huge deal. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with crab meat, my food was satisfactory though my mashed potatoes likely came from a box. The real reason for this review though was the steak my wife ordered. Now I know you cant expect a steakhouse quality cut, even if it is a New York strip, for under twenty bucks but you should still be able to get it cooked to your liking and with at least a hint of seasoning, neither of these seemed to apply though. The steak was well done even though she ordered it medium and it didnt even seem to have salt and pepper on it. It was tough and tasteless as were the steamed carrots that came with it. Okay service, probably great breakfast and other stuff but stay away from the steak.

Going with a group of friends, we were seated in a 4 person booth and a friend of mine asked the waitress kindley if we can sit else where that would be more fitting for the 5 of us. The waitress proceeded to give attitude to my friend and responded "Cant you see Im cleaning this table. Obviously the table is dirty". Next to the dirty table, currently being cleaned, was an open corner table with menus and the waitress again stated "didnt I just say Im cleaning the tables" and continued with negative comments to my friend. My friend politely stated he was just asking for a more comfertable booth and the waitress continued with her negative attitude. I would possibly recommend this place only if their customer service improves. We were simply looking for a more comfertable table to appropriatly seat 5 patrons and were denied service by a rude waitress. Please revise your staff West Reading Diner.

So I am under the impression that this is an authentic old time dinner rather than a fabricated tourist trap. Even the decor inside and out makes this eatery an interesting visit. Usually these types of places have either decent food or decent service but seldom both. On my visit I had both great food and service, which was remarkable considering my visit was on Easter Sunday. One of the Easter specials was BBQ ribs, crab cake and green beans. Not sure if this is normal Easter fare in SE PA but man it was even better than it looks in the pictures. I also loaded up on the complimentary salad bar which was not bad. Entire meal was less than $15.

This is our favorite 24-hour diner, but it is a diner. We like it because there are more vegetarian options than other diners and the ambiance is fun. But the food ranges from pleasant to bad. I like their egg-salad on a croissant or ice-cream on a waffle, but I had a friend who found her chicken sandwich way too salty. The fries are just okay. Still, I prefer this place to other 24-hour diners Ive been to in the area.

Used to be one of my favorite places, but that changed. Food is sometimes great, sometimes not so good. Prices are on the high side for a diner. Staff is friendly, though. They used to have a small jukebox in each booth, but they recently removed them, making it just another diner. It is open 24 hours, though, which makes it popular with the night crowd.

First, dont expect friendly staff. Theyre just there to make a living. Second, DO expect great breakfast! The breakfast menu last all day and its great food. I got the buttermilk pancakes and I loved them. So fluffy, though as a cook, I suggest you ask for extra butter to slather on. End of story: Great breakfast!!

I have always enjoyed the ufood until I took my family there for breakfast.and roaches started coming out from the wall. My wife and visiting friend started telling and freaked out. Before we left, the guy at the register told us that yes they have a problem and the owner is aware. So sad!

Ate here before returning home to NYC. Great variety and prices are reasonable. Home made chili was meaty. Desserts are huge. Diner is spotless and service is very good. If I lived in area, I would eat here at least once a week and never eat the same thing twice. Cindy Z from Brooklyn

The staff is always friendly, the food is prepared fresh and the prices are reasonable for most items. The diner usually has a decent number of patrons at all hours but nothing that requires an extreme wait like some chain restaurants. Definitely a great staple for the West Reading area.

I just ate breakfast there, and out of all the diners Ive been to they cooked it perfectly! Nothing was burnt! Even the coffee was awesome!! I will be back next time I am in the area. The service was phenomenal, too! I ordered, and within about 2-3 min I was eating! Now thats service!

I used to always choose this place to eat with my family and friends. But one night roaches fell on my head and I freaked out. The lady at the register told me they are aware but to please not make a scene so the other customers will not panic. I will never set foot here again.
