My wedding was great. Everyone had so much fun. My husband and I went to the place a few months before our wedding just to see how it works and met a DJ. His name is John Tate. Valley Green Inn doesnt provide real audio/video system, and we did not want to spend $$$$ on entertainment. John Tate is not too loud, but his music selection is great. Also, we initially was going to have the ceremony and reception at this place. But, we saw another couples ceremony there. Bikers and hikers were passing by, kids were crying, etc. So, we decided to have our ceremony in a church and had just the reception here. Tegan, a new manager, did not show up on my wedding day at all. No place cards were set up, candles were not lit up. When Kate was a manager, I was told that the centerpiece and paper lanterns were going to be provided. We assumed that they were included in the price. But, when she quit working there and Tegan became a new manager, everything was extra cost. If you want pink table linens instead of basic, or if you want a customized centerpiece, or if you want paper lanterns for decoration, its all extra money. Also, if you want someone to put up paper lanterns for you, thats extra too. We expected everything to be included. After the wedding, We wanted Tegan to give us a call or email saying why she did not show up to the wedding. No phone calls or emails. After we paid money in full, she just disappeared. Very unprofessional. Overall the place is good because of atmosphere and food. But, if you want a reliable staff, go somewhere else. After all, it is not a cheap venue.

I had a bad first experience at the Valley Green Inn, but their customer service after the fact made up for it completely. My first experience was a Friday night celebratory dinner, when I had the catfish. A few hours later I came down with the most violent food poisoning imaginable. I called to warn them and never received a call back; which led me to originally write a poor review. I was then contacted by the owner, who was extremely nice and apologetic. I have worked in the restaurant business and feel I can tell when someone is just saying what they need to say to satisfy a customer. I did not get this feeling at all from him, he was genuinely upset by the situation and disappointed by his restaurants performance. He had even went back and found my check and also the invoices for the fish I ate. He was nice enough to offer me a generous gift card, mailed with a hand written apology note. I went back with a few friends and had a great experience. We all enjoyed our food and nobody got sick (which was a relief)! After the genuine customer service and having a second chance, I would go back again. Thank you Valley Green Inn!

What happend to this place? We went on a Saturday...in July. We sat in doors because it was so hot out. Though the entire place was empty, we were not seated in front of the window, we were sat next to the fire place, in the dark corner. It smelled so badly of fire, we asked to be seated outside. The gospel music playing on the overhead radio wasnt really appreciated either. As we were waiting, my boyfriend noticed a staff member creeping about who he recognized as a known heroin user and general scumbag human. Because of your choice of staff, my boyfriend didnt trust the quality/ cleanliness/hygiene of the food. We paid for the food....but left it behind, uneaten. ...I hate waisting money. Also, there was a man blocking the access to the parking lot. We parked ALL the way up the hill...only to realize the whole lot was empty. If it was being saved for an event...probably should put a sign up. The only reason youre getting one star is because of the beautiful location.

When asked to see a menu to decide if we should eat there or not was given a "sample" menu instead. Just listed some items and gave price range for all. Decided to try it. After sitting down got a real menu and the cheapest thing on that was at the top of the sample menu price range expensive. When I asked about it was given no real answer. We were tired and hungry and mistakenly decide to stay anyway. We ordered and after a while our waitress came back and told us "things were happening". None of us understood what that meant. After about 45 minutes went to try to find some one to ask about our food. After 54 minutes with no answers we decided to cut our losses and just left. There were very few people there so it is not like they were busy or that the waitress had a lot of tables. The place is expensive, $16 for a burger, slow, unresponsive, and not trust worthy.

I had a delightful birthday lunch inside this charming 1800s inn. The red sangria was refreshing on the 90-degree day. The Inn Salad, with arugula, strawberries, shaved fennel, crumbled blue cheese, toasted almonds, and black pepper balsamic vinaigrette, was a perfect light starter. The jumbo lump crab cake was fresh, lightly battered, served with crispy Cajun potatoes, lime and caper aioli, and red pepper jam -- best tasting crab Ive had in a long time. For desert, I had the Pavlova with lemon curd and fresh berries with a frothy cup of cappuccino. Our server was a friendly young attentive woman who knew how to make a guest feel at home. Lunch was followed with a two-hour hike along scenic Wissahickon Trial. The day could not have been better.

We had guests from out of town and decided to have Christmas brunch at the inn. We ate there last and loved it, especially the historic, old-world decor in the dining room. This time, they led us directly to the back room near the bar - a room with bare walls, totally devoid of any old-world character. When we asked if we could be seated in the dining room instead, they told us that the seating chart was set for the day. No concession at all. So, nice food but not what Im willing to pay $29 per person for if the ambiance of the dining room isnt included. Plus, there was an ant in our bread basket. Not a nice Christmas experience.

My fiancé and I arrived at valley green at 2:20 on Nov 1st in line behind one couple. We were not acknowledged by the hostess for at least 20 minutes as we stood by the front desk and watched her be rude to customers and servers alike. Around 2:40 she said she would seat is shortly and disappeared to the back for a minute to return and tell us that her manager told her not to seat anyone else. She then accused us of lying by saying that she had only wasted 3 minutes of our time. We drove the half hour drive back home and I felt compelled to write my first ever review. Very unsatisfactory.

Valley green inn has been my favorite restaurant for the past 5 years so for every birthday, anniversary, celebration this was my first choice. I was there at least three times a year. Unfortunately, they recently changed chefs ( I last went in June 2016 and was told thr chef had changed) and the food was no where near as good as it was before. Many of my favorite menu items are gone ( baked brie, oven roasted chicken, creme brulee, filet with bone marrow). It makes me so sad because I really really loved this place but the food is not good anymore. Please get your old chef back!
