TL:DR - foods okay, beer selection is great, service is so bad I wouldnt bother. 2 stars (rather than 1) because of the great beer selection and that one cute Irish waiter. We brought a very large party to this pub. We had warned them in advance and were told that we could be accommodated. When we arrived, we were IDd immediately (at which point they said nothing about where we should sit), then we proceeded to a table of our choosing, as no one directed us in any particular direction. We were promptly and rudely relocated by the night manager - he sent us downstairs. And yet again, we were relocated back up to the area by the bar. I witnessed the night manager being particularly rude and curt with a group of international students, and for the rest of the night he grumpily sat on his grumpy-manager stool (when he wasnt *literally* shoving people to make his way through the crowd). Even on the worst night ever, no person in a managerial position should act in that manner. The service was slow when they bothered checking in with us. The waitresses had a huge crowd to serve, but considering how much time they spent chatting and laughing with Grumpy Manager, Id say it was more a matter of negligence than being overwhelmed. AND THE BARTENDER-LADY POURED MY GUINNESS WRONG. UGH. Im incredibly disappointed.

Went in on a busy Saturday and experienced some pretty terrible service. First, the bouncer chased us away from a 4 seater table a few minutes after we had settled down to ask us to move to a 2 seater. Then, when we sat down at our new table, we were informed that the specials were only limited to bar seating, so of course, we moved. Finally, when we got to the bar, the bar tender flipped out because we had shifted a bar stool with a jacket on it. "Did you seriously just move that stool? Somebody was just sitting there. Thats pretty bogus isnt it?" Turned out it was his brothers seat (we had thought that someone had just left their jacket there). Whatever, we just left. There are pretty amazing bars in Philly, dont waste your time on this one. Ignore what people say about their Awesome Fries, take your money and calorie budget to another establishment with better quality people and service.

this place has great food especially their fries and burgers! i think all ages are accepted, but since it is a bar, you might not want to bring kids at night. there are a lot of college students that come to eat...i went with my friends the other night (were sophomores...in high school) but we were treated like any one else, and even asked if we were going to drink that night. but i do look older for my age so maybe thats why...but anyways, its a lovely place and the driinks are cheap so go now!! (: OH but the servers are b*****. they think getting you a bottle of ketchup is a tremendous thing. usually the lady waiters are worse than the guys. the guys arent that bad (: just watch out for the redheaded one with the glasses !!! meowww

First and last time!! Overheard another couple also state that they will not be returning. It was also their first time there just a couple seats over from us. Food was mediocre and service was horrible with the exception of Michael. Our bartender Jackie was extremely slow and very obviously lazy. We were sitting in front of the food service window and she walked by several times, clearly able to see the food and hear the cooks ringing the bell but decides to ignore and wait for someone else to do the job. Was disappointed to hear they pooled tips, otherwise we could have left it only for Michael - which - thanks to him received 2 stars. Wish I would have read the reviews about the mice and glass before we walked in.

I have been here before and had no complaints. I went there on Tuesday night for drinks and food. Unfortunately we had company with sometimes three mice at a time about 4 feet away. We got another table farther away from them but they continued to run around and get closer. The staff member told us that there are mice everywhere in the city and that its Philadelphia and its just a part of the city. I am pretty sure its called the City of Brotherly Love not the city of mice are everywhere deal with it. Surprisingly I decided not to get food and left after a few drinks

The food is typical bar food. Its not bad for the price, but you are GUARANTEED bad service. Ive been here over a dozen times and the service is always sub-par. New Deck doesnt seem to understand that its a pub directly across the street from Penns law school. The waiters get visibly frustrated if you try to split checks or use more than one card. They dont handle large groups well and are strict about their 10 dollar minimum for cards. Too bad, because its a cool looking place. The staff just sucks.

Why? They have a huge menu with always good pub food. (The curry fries as an appetizer and the shepherds pie is one of my favorite meals in the city.) They have a sizable beer selection with a couple good craft beers. They have a great atmosphere with a wide variety in clientèle (from UPenn students to older professionals, etc.). And thats all you need. The beer specials used to be better but I wont complain too much.

Food is good, prices are good, beer is good, but more importantly this was home of the first and 3rd date of the love of my life. My wife and I stopped here with our friends while in college so, yeah, we are probably a bit biased to this place. Live music and great atmosphere though. We came back 10 years later and still just as good.

Okay beer menu with other cocktails. Food is American mixed in with Irish pub favorites. Offers a decent group setting with downstairs dining room. Live music several nights a week with other entertainment (Quizzo, karaoke, etc.) too. Daily specials for food and drink. [NOTE: This location is not wheelchair accessible.]

I go here with my classmates quite often as after 11pm, it is half price apps, and the beer is pretty reasonably prices. They are not very consistent with how they allow you to get pitchers though. Sometimes you can get them at the bar, sometimes you cant. Its quite frustrating.

My daughter bit down on what she thought was ice but was glass. We asked to speak to the manager because the waiter said they did not clean out ice well, and he said there was not a manager there Maybe thats why they dont care about the safety of their customers

Standard Irish Applebees vibe, packed with office folks during the day. We have office parties downstairs and everyone goes here for a beer and lunch during their lunch break around UC. Great if you need a quick spot and decent food.

Great Irish pub on one of the nicest streets in Philly. New deck has great beer selection, and always have specials and events at night. A popular destination for Penn and Drexel students, New Deck caters to all crowds.
