I told my boyfriend that I wanted to try somewhere different for dinner....after all it was my birthday and although it was my choice I didnt know what I wanted. He googled resturants in Philadelphia that we were going to choose from and he came across Bacio! I wasnt sure but I decided to take a chance and sooo glad that I did :) It was our first time going there so we was unclear of the directions. My boyfriend called them and they politely guided us to the resturant and we were only 1 1/2 mile away. It was exactly 9:20pm when we got there and they stop dining in at 9:30 and suprisingly they greeted us with smiles and a very friendly attitude. Our waiter, Kelly and the chef and other cook Jay were all there greeting us with smiles and very friendly hellos. Kelly was awesome! He helped us figure out what we wanted or would like to try and even suggested the Orange sparkling water that was soooo good (its a MUST to order)! I had the lagasna and my boyfriend had chicken francese....our dishes were delicious. We ate out of each others plates and Kelly was even nice to let us try some potato bread which was also delicious. I gave the chef a "O.M.G." when I tasted my lagasna and he gave me a thumbs up from the kitchen. We had a wonderful time and Kelly even chatted with us for a short time before leaving from his shift. After finishing dinner Jay delievered our check and to go boxes and we began chatting with him and it was then I told him about my birthday and he looked suprised and said "well happy birthday to you" and walked away while we were in the middle of conversation. I didnt realize that he was walking to a cooler that housed the dessert. He sliced me a piece of Tira Misu cake and brought it right over and asked "do you want a candle?" I was so overwhelmed and I simply told him that he didnt have to do that and he then asked "so you want the spoon to taste it?" I loved it and I had never had it before. Jay was soooo nice and he really made my 25th bday that much more special......O i didnt mention. The cake was on the house! I highly recommend this resturant....the food is like no other, the service is friendly and fast and the enviroment is friendly and laid back for an upscale looking italian resturant. My boyfriend and I will definitly be going back!!!!

My husband and I went here for the first time tonight on a date night. Loved it and look forward to going back! It is small and casual, with tables of people picking up pieces of each others conversations and talking to each other, and a small good natured dog wandering around, and a good mix of Italian and soundtrack music (the playlist at a restaurant matters to me!). Only one waitress and the main kitchen is open and right there next to the tables, and so the chef asked us directly from behind the counter how we liked what he made. Lucky for him (otherwise, it couldve been totally awkward), everything we got was amazing. We got conch salad and fra diablo mussels for appetizers, and the mussels were the biggest Ive ever had, and the sauce was yummy. For dinner, we had clams, scugglili (conch I think), mussels and shrimp with linguine in a rich white wine sauce and homemade meatballs and homemade pappardelle with mushrooms. That pasta dish was unique, delicious insanely, addictive. But every single dish was interesting and good. We had walnut torte for dessert which was also delicious. The owner apparently makes it himself. The service was wonderful, informal, personal and genuine. The fact that its BYOB may help keep its neighborhood, relaxed, congenial vibe. With Liquor licenses sometimes comes attitude. Anyway, five Italian cheek kisses to Bacio! This place is legit! (In contrast, we went to From the Boot in Lafayette Hill for our last date night, which had gotten a lot of hype from some friends of ours. We didnt love it. The dishes werent impressive; to me, they felt heavy and uninspired. I wont be back there, but I will definitely come back to Bacio!) Yum yum....keep up the good work!!!

Went to Bacio with four other adults and a nice bottle of Moniker Cabernet. We were all very pleased with the meal! My meal of Chicken Fancese was delicious. The side of spinach was the best side of spinach Ive ever had. Id go back just for the spinach. Seriously. There was some spaghetti with the entree. It was good and a nice compliment, but nothing amazing. The desserts were excellent. The cannolis were the best Ive had, but even better was this chocolate walnut torte. OMG! It was killer. My daughter and wife had the papparadelle with mushrooms. They thought it didnt have enough flavor (I tasted and agreed). They said it needed something, like more Parmesan, which we probably could have asked for. But it wasnt offered. My brother-in-law had the veggie lasagna, which he thought was very good. My sister-in-law had spaghetti with pesto. She was very happy, so much so that she said that when her friends come in from out of town she would definitely take them back to Bacio. I tasted two salads, a Caprese Salad (I normally dont enjoy these, but this one was really good and was enjoyed by others) and a beet salad (good, tons of beets, but not anything crazy good). Italian bread was served before dinner. Wait staff was very friendly, like family. There was even an old friendly dog (shar pei beagle) that was wondering around. I think it was the owners dog. The prices were reasonable, about $17/entree. I believe I had gone to Bacio many years ago. My experience then wasnt memorable. But this one was!

Bacio is better than great. Ive been there 4 times over the last year (Im not anywhere local) and love it. I love that you can bring a bottle and so can spend ALL your budget on the food! The food is great - Italian American. It looks just like a place in Italy tho! I swear I went to a place in Rome that looks almost the same but no, these guys are Italian American, the best of both! You gotta try their cheesecake (if Vinnie hasnt GIVEN it all away already! Yes, I just went there to get some and was told they had none left!) its really a Ricotta Pie, grandmas recipe Im told. Seriously, Vinnie gives too much away and so please if he does, please add an extra tip because I get the sense that these guys are heart and soul into food, community and kindness and probably give away too much business and selfishly I want them to stay in business!!!

I absolutely love this place. The dishes are all cooked from scratch so theres a real freshness about it thats hard to replicate elsewhere. Also I have a lot of dietary issues (allergies and preferences) and this is the most accommodating place Ive ever visited. From gluten free to vegan to soy allergies, etc - they are always happy and ready to care for the diverse needs of the group (I like to go here with large groups of picky friends!). Plus BYOB and good sized portions make it a real value. They do seafood really well too!

This was an absolutely all around fantastic restaurant. We came on the recommendation of friends. Used to dining in Center City and Manayunk, it was a bit of a departure from the norm. HOWEVER, we were amazed with the prompt, personal, and knowledgeable service. Vinnie (our waiter) knew everything about the menu, and was tremendously passionate about the food. The food was superb, with a great selection of specials. Will certainly be going here again.
