I hate to be this person, but I seriously have no idea where these good reviews are coming from. Ive eaten at Bella Capri three times (Ill give any shop a few chances, everyone has off days) and have been consistently disappointed. Now, caveat here, I am a Philly native who, before moving to DE, lived in NJ and had access to ten pizza shops within five miles, all of them awesome. Here in DE, Bella Capri is the only convenient option near us. But I have ordered a cheesesteak from them... it was dry, rubbery, and almost cheeseless, with a roll that appeared slightly stale. Okay, I figured, this isnt Philly, so no more cheesesteaks. The garlic bread my husband ordered during our first time there could have been used as a hockey puck - it was just a sandwich roll cut in half and buttered with garlic powder, and toasted to be... extra well-done, Id call it. Tonight, we ordered for the LAST time and received a stromboli with green peppers, mushrooms and onions. Upon taking a bite, I was punched in the mouth (and eyes) with raw, crunchy onions and peppers - the onions being strong enough to burn my eyes (and I cook with onions almost daily, they dont bother me generally, but these were some truly acrid onions!) The mushrooms were clearly from a can, and were clammy despite the stromboli itself being piping hot. Ive never bitten into anything that gross or poorly-made in my life. I also ordered a serving of calamari fritti that arrived cold and half-filled... the calamari is delicious, but ten or twelve quarter-size, clammy rings is not worth 8 bucks. (We were refunded in full for this order, because it was simply not acceptable or edible.) And overall - for what I see to be very "meh" food - the prices are outrageous compared to the pizza shops Ive been to in the Philadelphia area and in NJ. Its a shame, because like I said, I gave them three tries! Really wanted to like them, but sorry, Bella Capri... Ill make my own stromboli from now on.

Wow. OK. Read the reviews and came here with the expectation of getting an authentic NY style Italian meal. Where to start. The fried calamari. It was coated in something, but barely warm, not browned, not fried. It came in about 3 minutes, tough, tasteless, rubbery...you get the picture. Sauce? My wife didnt taste it, but there was some sort of spice that I couldnt quite place, but it was NOT like any homemade Italian sauce Ive ever had, and my life is chock full of chef-grade Italian Moms, Grandmas, Sisters, Cousins & Wife, all of whom could open a world class place. Anyway. I had Veal Parm. The Good part: It was a real veal cutlet, not a patty. Thats a major plus around here Im finding. It was covered in real mozzerella and not provolone as many DE Italian Restaurants use. But, it was tough, and there was that sauce again. My wife had chicken marsala. Yikes. Chicken was not floured or breaded or fried. It was a white, possibly boiled chicken cutlet. The marsala sauce was thin (because the cutlet was not floured or breaded, which helps to thicken the sauce) and it had no flavor whatsoever. My wife ate about 1/3 the dish and just gave up. The Calamari was pretty much untouched. Lets say picked at. I did finish my Veal parm. I was pretty damn hungry.

While staying in Georgetown I ordered from this place for delivery. Apparently the pizza was dropped on the way and the cheese slid off in the box. Delivery guy didnt say a word. Called the restaurant and the older gentleman who I spoke to actually yelled at me and acted like I was lying about it. I wasnt asking for a refund or a new pizza I was just calling to let them know it happened. While the food was pretty good (what was left of the pizza and my wife had fettuccine alfredo) I would not recommend this place because of the rude guy who I think is a manager or possibly the owner. Maybe they get people trying to get free stuff off them and thats why he acted like such a douche but I had a legitimate issue and he handled it totally inappropriately. Missed out on a lot of money after this too because I was with a group of people here for over a month (work) and we all decided to avoid it after that. Since it was really convenient to the hotel we stayed at it would have been a regular place for us to eat. Oh well. Taste doesnt trump basic decency.

There are some people who have obviously had some bad experiences here, but every time I have come, the pizza, especially the Sicilian pizza, has been fantastic, some of the best I have had in America. The shop is obviously run by Italians, both because of their use of toppings (the canned mushrooms that caused another reviewer so much ire are authentic, if youre been Italy you know) and from our waiters avowal (despite what the reviews below would led you to believe, she was very competent and kind). There has been some slander of this place, but for those who want good, authentic Italian food, this is the place to go. P.S. I am not related in anyway to the owners of this place, and have never meet them, so if all forms good reviews are indeed from those two groups, here is one that is not.

The service was good Rosa is a wonderful person who is warm and friendly. The food is excellent. There are not many places where you can order a plate of Broccoli Rabe, and it is cooked to perfection. The red gravy is excellent...yes Im from Philly and in Philly its red gravy. I also had the Italian sausage with Broccoli Rabe and red peppers in a white sauce, (white is never gravy) over Penne Pasta. The taste is out of this world! Ive been looking for a good Italian restaurant since I relocated from Philly. Im no longer looking!

Rude staff, ordered a dinner portion of pasta, which I have had before and it was less than half of what I got last time. When I asked about the difference the guy said maybe you will get more next time. Next time? i dont think so. Also they use canned ingredients. Even the mushrooms. If I wanted canned ingredients I would go to the grocery store. canned mushrooms are mushy and nasty and they put them on salad. This place is a joke. The good reviews must be from friends and family only.

My family and I was looking for good pizza. Tried all the pizza places in Millsboro, DE. Bella Capri has very good pizza and fresh chef salad. This restaurant is very clean and friendly. I drive 18 miles once weekly to Bella Capri because it a very good restaurant for common folk. My sons and grandchildren always want Bella Capris philly steak, pizza and salads. Bella Capri aims to please its customers.

Ive been patronizing this shop for years, since my college days. Gotta say that the food is consistently impressive. Ask them about the cheese steak capri, tell em Mark recommended it! Ive never tried the pasta dishes, but everyone that Ive dined in with has ordered pasta and enjoyed.
