I love coming to the Brownstone for their breakfast the most! Strawberry/cream cheese stuffed french toast is by far my favorite. I love their crab cakes and also the hot ham and cheese on pretzel bread. Ive never had anything less than fabulous service from them and everything is reasonably priced. Update: Ate there tonight and got the Honey Dipped Chicken and it was beyond fabulous. The meat is so tender and juicy and the breading so crispy. Along with homemade mashed potatoes and a tossed salad with excellent french dressing. The iced tea was really great too! So clear and tasted like they cleaned the machine today lol.

This is one of my favorite places for close to home cooking..... however..tonight was a dissappointment...we sat upstairs...noisy.... and crowded, and the server was stressed. Dishes banging and the server and another helper rushing around. I ordered the hot turkey with real filling and mashed potatoes but could not get our server to get me more gravy. Their food is usually good, especially the turkey. My advice...do not sit upstairs and stay away from the dinner hour...much too hectic.

3/2014~~Ate here for the first time. Beautiful old bank on the outside. There are a few items still intact inside from banking days....safe, vault and teller window. Woodwork has been painted white which takes away from the warmth/atmosphere. Food was great...hubby had stir-fry and I had the steak and crab cake which were dee-lish! We shared pecan pie slice and it was the best weve ever had! (enuf for 2) Want to go back soon for breakfast. Enjoy!

I was there on Saturday July 22nd and was pleasantly pleased. To start our server was very knowledgeable and recommended most items. At an adjoining tNle was a man eating gumbo, well needless to say I ordered this. Let me tell you it was the best I had ever eaten. The rice pudding for dessert was home made and scrumptious. I will definitely come back and yes very gumbo. Well worth the drive no matter where you are coming from.

Went for breakfast and it was awesome. Our waitress was an elderly lady who was nice as ever, I wish Id remembered her name. The food came out fast and was hot. I ordered the sourdough french toast with cheese eggs, bacon, home fries without onions and white toast. The taste of everything was spectacular and well beyond what I expected. I will be revisiting and this place easily takes the top spot, for breakfast, in my book.

Nice, simple decor. This used to be a bank, many local banks over the years, in fact, and the building a cool scope and sense of history. However, the food is mediocre at the best of times. It is generally bland and there is little depth to any of their meals. Sometimes you can get relatively the same out of a bag or box at the store. Still, I enjoy going for basic breakfast and its relatively cheap.

I wanted to take my sweetheart there for a Valentines dinner. I wanted everything to go smoothly on our special night. As soon as I said "For two" , I was then told they only take reservations for four or more. Well, I guess we will never know the quality of the food there. Hahaha. There are many other places that want my business. Word of mouth is a great help.

Picked this place to eat based upon others reviews. Not disappointed! The server was quick to help us out although she was super busy and seemed a little annoyed when not with us, but it wasnt a big deal. The food was great and it came out super quick. I ordered the hot ham and cheese sandwich on pretzel bread and it was delicious. Will certainly visit again.

The Brownstone Cafe has wonderful food at all times, but their breakfast is the best I have ever had. From sweet potato pancakes to baked oatmeal with fresh fruit, I have never been disappointed. It is always busy because of its great reputation, but I have never had to wait that long. It also has a cool environment.

We went for breakfast and it was delicious. Presentation was good. Waitstaff friendly and gave excellent advice on what to order. Pretty building, interior was nice. Definitely recommend if youre looking for a local place to eat with a hometown feel thats a little mixed up, the bank turned into a restaurant kinda mixed up.

This restaurant serves good old fashioned home cooked meals. Havent had anything I didnt like, and we go there at least weekly. Very friendly staff. Its in a historic brownstone from the 1880s that used to be a bank. Easy to find as its in the center of the small town of Middletown, PA. Try it, youll like it.

Great menu selection, good quality food. They do have an upstairs for large groups however the upstairs is not handicap accessible. Depending on the time of day will determine the wait time for seating. Home style food and atmosphere. Crab cakes are exceptional as well as many other dishes.

This place is great whether youre looking for family gatherings, date night or a quick quiet lunch alone. Ive been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and every meal was perfect!! The atmosphere is cozy and every bit as comforting as the food. Its historic and a must see so go...now!

Great food at a cheap price! Restaurant is part of the local historic landscape. Recent street remodel make it look really nice outside. Inside is a retired bank. The banks vault door is still there and the kitchen I have been told is located inside it. Breakfast is always great!

My son and I love the Brownstone. The different meals we have eaten were very good. The waitresses always very pleasant. The food is delivered piping hot and delicious. My favorite there so far is the chicken pie. My son loves the terriyaki chicken... the portion is huge.

During a short layover, between flights, my crew and I discovered this great dining experience. My only regrets was not being able to eat more of the "Chicken Pot Pie". Im Pennsylvannia Dutch and this tops the list. Definitely need to bring the family here sometime.

Great food, friendly service and an interesting dining experience. The building used to house a bank once upon a time, which theyve paid homage to by keeping the vault intact and placing other bank related items around the dining room. Really neat small-town spot.

The Brownstone Cafe in Middletown, PA is well known throughout the Harrisburg area is well liked here in Middletown. While the lunch and dinner menus are great, breakfast is a great treat with their baked oatmeal being one of the best.

One of the best diners Ive been to for breakfast in the area. Breakfast selection is delicious, I usually go for the sourdough french toast and omelette. The eggs benedict was somewhat lacking in flavor, not the greatest Ive had.

Great restaurant! Have eaten there more than 100 times in past several years. Know all the staff and their service is great, food is wonderful and price reasonable. Highly recommend for a nice, "home cooked meal".
