We had a big work group there and we all ate and drank, which helped to give them a very good night of income. We were all polite, well-behaved, and having a good time. We started inside at a long table since the Tiki Bar wasnt open on such a gorgeous night and at one point and the rude Manager, Taylor, said to a few guys while standing and talking, "Could you be any more in the way?" Then, when we all moved outside and pulled some tables together to continue our going-away party, purchased more beverages and AFTER we all paid our bills since wed been there awhile, we were FINALLY told we werent allowed to push tables together (mind you, there were plenty of empty ones around us) and were asked to leave. We moved the tables back and dealt with false accusations from the rude manager who has absolutely no business sense, as he chased us out. We work at a very large corporation and will continue to spread the news. DO NOT GO THERE. *We did tip our waitress VERY well because she was wonderful.

We checked out the web page and planned to celebrate Mothers Day at this restaurant. I was looking forward to seafood chowder, grouper, and key lime pie - all the specialties mentioned on the web page and commented on in reviews. We made reservations, which were hardly necessary - the restaurant wasnt even half filled. The only offering was a buffet. Dry fish, a pre-made fried chicken item, ham in a heavy sauce, beef sliced in au jus. Only green beens, rice and mashed potatoes. No soup! The beef and beans were tasty, but hardly what I hoped for. No table cloths & paper napkins. Nice service, but not a special occasion restaurant. The big surprise was the check! $84 for three with 2 glasses of average wine. For the very limited buffet and very average or less quality, I was disappointed.

Really disappointed. First, the menu they have on their website is 2 years old and is NOT the same menu they have at the restaurant. Second, their salads say on the menu they are mixed greens, but it was all crappy iceberg lettuce. Iceberg is definitely not what you would ever call mixed greens. It was awful. I HATE iceberg lettuce and was expecting mixed greens as listed on the menu. Also, my friends ahi tuna was way overcooked and had an awful taste & texture. Another friend order a southwest chicken sandwich that was mostly bun with a tiny piece of chicken. Although the atmosphere was great the food was TERRIBLE. Ill never go there again.

We had reservations for a group of 16 and they sat us at 4 different tables. We ended up moving tables ourselves so we could all be together. Our server was great, she did a really good job handling all of us but she could have used some help with an additional server for our large group. All of our food orders came out sporadically and when they did come out they were cold. Out of all 16 of us only 2 were "satisfied" with their meal. The food was OK at best. Definitely will not recommend eating here , it might be fine for having some drinks by the lake but that is about it.

The one star is over doing it for this visit! I have never had a bad experience until today. The food is good and the service always has been. Today was different...you wait to be seated and see several open tables and are told its a 20 minute wait you figure its due to being short staffed the kitchen is behind etc... so youre understanding and you wait. Once you are finally seated and wait another 10 to 12 minutes to even be greeted and still havent put in a drink order you are not as understanding. So, another restaurant will receive our business tonight.

Great atmosphere, and thats where it ends. Terrible, terrible Rumrunner. All syrup and didnt even closely resemble the way a Rumrunner should taste or look. Ive never seen a Rumrunner that was bright red. The name Rumrunner is in the bar name so I expected them to be able to pull the drink off. Their attempt at food mirrored a 14 year olds attempt at cooking his first dinner for his first girlfriend, potentially in an Easy Bake Oven. By the way this is the first Google review Ive ever done. I felt obligated out of much love for all of you. Save yourselves.

The restaurant has a lot of potential to be great, however it is poorly managed and staff is clueless. We got sat right away but the host had to go find the server after few minutes and let him know we were sitting there (it was slow). When we asked questions about the menu he couldnt tell us anything about it he was clueless and his famous answer was " I dont know". My wife got the surf and turf we couldnt tell what kinda of steak that was because it looked like a mixture of ground beef and left over steak?! Will definitely go somewhere else next time.

The food was terrible. Fish tacos were actually a fish wrap with a horrible taste! Also ordered a burger with bacon, terrible all around and the bacon was raw, maybe warmed up but not cooked, and they still charged extra for it! $50 bill for two for lunch and it was the worst lunch I have ever had! I think all they had was a microwave in the back to cook with, thats how it tasted, and im normally not picky. Dont waste your time or money!

2 star food and 2 star drinks. The frozen drinks were not mixed properly and had giant chunks of ice. The seafood was slightly overcooked, and most likely frozen prior to cooking. The steak with the surf and turf was low quality as was the shrimp. We waited about an hour for our food. On the positive side, atmosphere is very nice with views overlooking the water

Never had a dinner we could not eat u till our visit here. My girlfriend and I have never hated a place so much we had to leave and go to a different restaurant but the food was honestly that bad. When we went to order they where out of mostly all apps and my girlfriends meal was a miss match bc they were out of what she wanted.ps I hated the plastic plates.

Many of the bad reviews on here are from picky people. Each time Ive ate at this restaurant, theres quick and easy service, great drinks and food. Great place to go for burger lovers. They have nice, unique burgers that always make me come back. Drinks are kinda pricey, but they always put a good portion of alcohol in them.

Editing my review because this listing turned into "The Cove" & my previous review was for the original Rum Runners, still open down the street. The Cove is great for a lot of reasons but mainly its the views. Pretty standard fare but good atmosphere and overall nice enough place. Casual dinner, after-boat drinks, etc.

Service was slow. Had to go find our waiter to get us our drinks after we waited 10 minutes after being seated. Food was ok. Chicken sandwich had a tiny piece of chicKen on a large bun. Tasted good, but was tiny. Everything else was good. Had to find waiter to bring us our check. Disappointed

Very attentive service especially for our group of 7. Reasonable price given their location. Personal favorite drink was the Lynchburg lemonade. For apps, try the buffalo chicken dip or spinach dip or the soft pretzel feeds two people easily as an app.
