Although Diner 248 shares a name with other grease pits across the Tri-State Area, this place is really misrepresented as a "diner." Its no grease pit and its a cut above anything an average diner can provide. My wife and I had dinner on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We were given a 30 minute wait time, but I think it only ended up being 15. What made us decide the wait would be worth it is the delicious looking desserts on display when you walk in - well played, Diner 248 owner! Our waitress was friendly and attentive... when she could be. She was clearly very busy, but did her best to make sure we were taken care of. That meant that service wait times were a little long, but we understood. I ordered the meatloaf and my wife had a chicken sandwich. My meatloaf was good, but not excellent. But I dont know why I order meatloaf out! It seems like a strange choice in hindsight... But my wife really enjoyed her chicken sandwich! On her FIRST bite, before she even fully experienced the sandwich, she nodded her head and said, "This is good!" Thats a very rare thing from my wife, who can be a picky eater. Our orders were large portions of food, so we only ate some of it (dont worry - we boxed it to go!) and decided to leave room for dessert. My wife ordered the Chocolate Grace and I had the Banana Cake. OH MY GODDDDD were they great! First off, they were ENORMOUS pieces. We enjoyed the Chocolate Grace (picture brownies and whip cream - tasted like a Swiss Roll), and it seemed like a crowd favorite, but the Banana Cake was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I will be coming back to this place SPECIFICALLY for that cake. I also had a draft Maple Brown Ale that may be one of the most delicious beers Ive ever had! Prices were good - a little higher than what youd expect for a diner. But like I said before, this really is only a diner in name. Well, outside of paying at the register before you leave instead of at your table. But Ive always liked that about diners, so Im glad they kept that element! The staff were excellent too. I noticed staff continually checking on tables and communicating with the reservation/seating host. They kept everything moving and never were standing around aimlessly for one minute. Everyone clearly understood their job and did it well! We were pleasantly surprised by Diner 248! After driving by it for years noticing how packed it always is, we are glad we stopped in to see what all the hubbub was about. We will definitely be back to eat there... and for that freaking delicious Banana Cake!

Do not eat at this place! My husband and I just moved here a month ago from California and weve been looking for a good diner. We tried this place yesterday morning for breakfast, it was pretty packed so we thought with that many people this place has to be good! We couldnt have been more wrong! I ordered the french toast breakfast (french toast, bacon, eggs and home fries) my husband ordered the pancake version of this. When the food came it looked ok, until we took our first bites....no flavor whatsoever! There was no cinnamon and vanilla flavor to the french toast, my husband was disappointed in his pancakes. The bacon wasnt crispy at all and tasted like the store brand stuff. The eggs seemed fresh, but still no flavor. The home fries werent exactly home fries or hash browns, more like they boiled potatoes, put them on the grill and smashed them, and those were probably the only half way decent part of the meal, but even then I had to put more salt and pepper than usual, and even the ketchup I put on them barely helped, they did have the crispy brown parts I like really like, but even that wasnt enough to save them! We paid around $23 for our food, OJ, coffee and hot chocolate. I dont even think this meal was worth $10! Id like to say it was average, but it was below average, Dennys has a better breakfast than this place! Dont waste your time or money here!

This diner is one of the worse places my family has ever ate at. The waitress was a bit airy, and it seem like it took her a while to comprehend answer to her own questions. However, she was nice and understanding. The place is quaint but when look closer the table they sit you at is crawling with ants, which not only made us lose our breakfast let alone did not help us in wanting eat our lunch. The kids were served their food which was fine and we had our appitizer. 30 mins later we asked for our dinners and the waitress said to my daughter would you like salad now. I thought a salad was suppose to be served before your dinner. OK!!! Then my open faced roast beef sandwich was bland, tasteless, and the rye bread wasnt even toasted. My husband order a beef Gyro and was served chickhen. He ask for a specific cheese on his fries and got something else. The total wait for our food from start was at least 1 hour. For a diner that wasnt even busy is a extremely long wait, WTF. This place is dreadful except for the end when what I believe to be the owner offer my children lollipops which they ended up dropping. OH well a crappy ending to a crappy meal.

Poor. You were recommended to us by a local resident. The food was good but the waiter was incompetent and extremely slow. The extremely poor service destroyed our dining experience. The place was practically empty so you cant use that as an excuse. The waiter (?) was more interested in talking to females in the hallway than he was in doing his job. That is unless his job is to recommend honey mustard to dip the fries and then charge fifty cents for it. I could have gone to Arbys and gotten honey mustard for FREE! He didnt know if you had Dr. Pepper. I had to ask several times for a Pepsi refill and then wait for ten minutes before I received it. He was very quick with the check, but he never came back so we took it to the register ourselves. I told my girl friend not to leave anything for a tip, but she did leave something that he really didnt deserve. When the girl at the register asked how everything was, I told her that the service was extremely slow and the waiter was not very knowledgeable. She mumbled something that was incoherent. It was apparent that your afternoon staff doesnt really care. Too bad.

Despite its name, this place is not a diner. It is a family restaurant by day and a sports bar by, well, whenever its appropriate to be a sports bar. The food is unexpectedly excellent, i.e., given its name, location, and façade. In particular, I recommend the veggie burger. The decor is sports bar. Large bar. Flat screens all over the place. Think "Cheers." I find the booth seating very uncomfortable, so I sit at tables with chairs. The service is very good. The waitstaff are prompt and very friendly. My parents have been regulars here for several years. They love it. About once a week, they get breakfast -- omelet with mushrooms, onion, & cheese, home fries, sausage, toast, juice. They are very particular about how their eggs are prepared and the eggs are always prepared properly. And about once a week they get lunch, usually one or more of burger, chili, soup, salad. They like everything.
